LF: D&D 5e

I'm looking for a game I can actually play in. D&D 5, preferably 3rd level or higher, but I can deal with 1st.

I don't want an Adult game. Mature is fine, but the Adult flag is overused in my opinion, and permits levels of description and types of activity I find unnecessary.

I would prefer few or no house rules, and I would like to be made aware of any such before the game starts. I

And, finally, I would prefer a (single) party based campaign, rather than massive number of players in a sandbox, or other forms multiple groups. In my experience with games with multiple groups, one always tends to take more of the DM's interest than others. That's fine if you are in the group the DM is paying attention to, not so much if in one of the others.

I would prefer if Xanathar's, Volo's and SCAG were allowed, but I can come up with character ideas without them. I have plenty of things I'd like to try out.

Looking back at the above, I may not be as open minded as I thought I was. I just want a game that lasts more than a month or two, and where the DM actually shows up and posts at least 2-3 times a week.

Would you be up for a solo game? I have a homebrew game that revolves around eventually acquiring a castle or stronghold and becoming a minor baron. Not going full Kingdom Builder or anything but some light "ruler/politics" mixed with classic dungeon crawling and adventure.

You would just focus on you. There would be a small group (2-3) of NPC hirelings essentially. You can talk with them and ask them for help/advise but you'd be the one in charge and their recommendations would be...dubious at best

(i.e. the barbarian will always say "charge into them and bath in the blood, the bard would always say "let's just talk to them and work it out!" etc.)

If you want to run the NPCs in battles thats fine otherwise I would have the reigns.

Setting would be either Mystara or  Forgotten Realms but I could also be persuaded to do something more exotic like Spelljammer or Dark Sun. I'm not opposed to Greyhawk or Ravenholm or Dragonlance but I'm not familiar with those settings so there would be some lengthy prep time on my part. Anyway if that sounds interesting shoot me an rMail

No, I'd prefer a party. And not politics or intrigue, but more traditional dungeon crawl or adventuring.

I may be willing to run a low level party through a published adventure and then branch out into a longer campaign if everyone is still committed.

Are you familiar with the "Lost Mine of Phandelver" for the Forgotten Realms?  If not, that may be an option.  I would prefer to start with 4-6 first level characters. I would consider allowing options from Xanathar's, Volo's or SCAG but I don't currently own those resources so I would ask that you describe any requested variants in a PM and we can then discuss them.

I'm fine with limiting the game to the mature tag and using the stock 5e rules.

Let me know if you're interested.

In reply to cithindril (msg # 5):

Interested in a good old fashioned dungeon crawl.

The module that I mentioned above includes two dungeon exploration segments, a wilderness exploration segment and an interlude in a nearby village.  It's a pretty classic dungeon crawl adventure.

For anyone who may be interested in playing, please don't look at the published materials to avoid spoilers.  If one or more potential players have already read that module, I'll select something else.

Thanks!

Well, if the OP's interested, I'd be willing to be the fourth player. Forgotten Realms is the one with Waterdeep, Thay, and a goddess of magic that dies with every new edition, right?

Ok, let's get this party started!

I've set up a new topic in the Wanted - Players forum under the title "Heroes of Faerun".

The RTJ instructions are posted in the game forum.  See you there!
