I would prefer (but do not require) an original setting rather than the Marvel/DC universes, one where supers are either or both of just beginning to emerge and fairly uncommon. I like to play weird characters that have no direct counterpart to any existing fiction, and enjoy well-built worlds that have realistic consequences for my actions. I would really rather avoid the common trope of "weedy-woodly-woo, now you have superpowers, how mysterious!" so that I can effectively employ my unique characters' backstories and power origins.
More than just fighting supervillains, I want to have the opportunity to change the world for the better (or worse). I enjoy realistic politics and social issues in my games, and especially watching how they shift and evolve in the response to the mainstreaming of superpowers. I enjoy meeting interesting NPCs and learning to care about them, whether it be for good or ill.
I have an extensive back catalogue of characters looking for homes; GMs interested in making a game that caters to a specific character may PM me for an up-to-date list of who I am most interested in playing at the moment.

How original were you thinking?
LoonyLadle: | Hopeful bump! Maybe a brief explanation of the character I hope to play will rouse some interest. |
How married are you to that concept?

Which is to say I think super hero games especially, work better when players have some sort of creative prompt for generating their characters. My home group uses a random powers deck my buddy found. Weaver Dice has the other players generate the powers based on a random tragedy keeping the player's loose goals in mind. Another one I saw had you powers be basically a 3 part gig where you write one then you pass to the player to your left and to your right.

Mostly I just don't want the overhead of fifty bazillion heroes who have been around longer and are better than me in every conceivable way. I want to be part of the first wave, and not have to live in Super Dark Phoenix Psyker Wolverine Galactus' Left Bollock Man's shadow.
So if you want to take the real world and apply superheroes, that's fine. If you want a fictional City of Adventure, or to take things into the past or future, that could be fine. If you want to make a whole new world from the ground up that would work too, though it seems a lot of effort.
Sir Swindle: | How married are you to that concept? |
Not immensely, but it ties up a lot of aspects I want to explore into a single mechanically interesting character. I'm certain that some degree of translation will be necessary to make the idea work in whatever metaphysics framework you come up with. I'm not entirely opposed to adapting one of my innumerable existing characters into a superhero, but I do find a lot of traditional super origin stories incredibly trite.
Orson Welles: | The enemy of art is the absence of limitations. |
A wonderful sentiment, one I generally agree with.

Or look at White Wolf's Aberrant game where the official cause is one event, but the real cause is a little more.... not sinister but not what the world thinks it is. Or was.

Thu 5 Aug 2021 at 20:01 | Re: Mutants and MastermindsHonestly, I think it's safe to say that any regular superhero Mutants and Masterminds game that goes up will likely get mobbed by interested applicants. It's just finding a GM that is challenging.

He was quite persistent. Then, I remember seeing a game open, applying for it, getting in, and playing for a while. Eventually it folded, like many games do, but the original poster looking for the game never even knew it was around. He never applied to the game. The game ad came out, it was mobbed by seven or eight people, and then it was closed two days later once it was full. I honestly don't think that fella even knew the game ad was out at all. Oh well. It happens.
I thought it was a rather odd situation of not paying attention to the game recruitment thread.
