Theros or Ravnica D&D 5e (Low Combat)

Hello All!

I'm hoping to find a DM that would be interested in running a short to medium adventure in either Ravnica or Theros. I've been a huge fan of both settings since I started playing Magic a number of years ago and were ecstatic when they released setting books for them both.

I would like to explore either setting with a smaller group with a DM who focuses on story and player choice than crunchy combat. I have access to both books source books and would be happy to share for a DM or other players who don't have them.

I can consistently post once or twice a day, but would like to start with a shorter adventure so everyone can get to know each other before committing to a larger undertaking. I'm also keenly interested in systems that streamline the combat for play by post. I've seen suggestion of players offering a few turns of actions at a time or abstracting combat to just a few hits rather than dozens or hundreds of hit points. However, I would defer to a potential DM's preferences.

Thank you for reading, and I hope to hear from any interested parties soon!

Theros or Ravnica D&D 5e (Low Combat)

As a player, I'm very interested. I know about the Plane Shift books, which are free, but I couldn't find Theros among them. Where can you grab the pdf?

Theros or Ravnica D&D 5e (Low Combat)

In reply to voidseeker (msg # 2):

Theros has an entire source book on it, similar to The Guildmaster's Guide to Ravnica. You could purchase it from a FLGS, DNDBeyond, or Roll20.

Theros or Ravnica D&D 5e (Low Combat)

I’d be willing to play in either, but I could consider running a Ravnica game. I have that book but not Theros, though it’s been a while since I’ve DMed anything. I haven’t tried running a 5e campaign yet, so starting small to test the waters would be ideal for me too. Light combat might be a tad tricky since the system is designed around combat, and it’s a huge theme in both D&D and M:tG in general. BUT, I think we can simplify it by not having random combat encounters, avoiding mook-fights, and everyone working together to use alternate approaches to resolving encounters (i.e., no one plays a character that attacks first and asks questions later).
