kensai:
Hello there!
Of late I've been reading a few LitRPGs, and I'm finding the idea of participating in a solo adventure in the style of the genre rather enticing. The main differences between this and a standard (for instance Pathfinder or 5e) campaign would be that my character is aware of the system and can grind based on that knowledge, that the system usually allows growth through training, and that the main character is usually overpowered with a higher than normal growth curve.
For the sake of your sanity, if it's helpful, we could use a pre-existing system with some tweaks to make it fit the behaviors of the genre.
Any of the various popular LitRPG novels out there is fine for the setting or we can be original, and if I haven't read it, I'd be glad to pick up a new one.
Thanks!
I just want to make an observation, and someone confirm if it's correct or not:
A LitRPG is a novel that acts like an RPG. To be more specific, it's the story of someone who is in an RPG, and knows it.
So... Basically, what you're proposing would really be the opposite: An RPGLit: An RPG but you tell the players "Because of virtual reality or something, your character knows they're in a game, and they have access to all the numbers and crunch-- they'll know not only that they've taken damage, but that they've actually taken
3 points of damage, and so on."
So... ANY kind of RPG becomes an RPGLit if you say a sentence like that one right there in quotes, right?
EDIT: Ah, with one more caveat-- extra-speedy leveling up.
But that's about it, right?
