Marvel Multiverse (D616)

Anyone got any interesting in running a Marvel Multiverse game? Canon or original characters are fine with me, and pre-published adventures are fine as well! Excelsior!

I can't imagine so since the game's own developers aren't interested in the game being run (seriously, why no digital edition?!). But, I'd be down to check the system out if anyone's running a game for original characters.

I would give that a shot with Original Characters!

Marvel Multiverse (D616)

I bought the game when it was released, and I was underwhelmed for the most part. Less setting flexibility than I was expecting with core rulebook (way too Marvel-centric with the powers themselves) and the Hasbro model of no pdfs was a major turnoff. Decided to keep my financial support of the House of Mouse to the one product.

That said, I didn't mind the game mechanic itself, and would like to see it in action at least once. I'd be interested in original characters, doubly so if we weren't in a known Marvel universe (and not expecting to encounter known characters)...

I have the Core rulebook and was actually more impressed with the beta test book that came out than the Core book--I know that doesn't make sense on its face but I was really disappointed with the way many of the characters were done up and it seems to be either extremely easy or extremely difficult to kill in a game with little middle ground. I know heroes aren't supposed to kill, according to the rules, but the comics from Marvel these past several years have been more violent than ever and it seems like every mutant/hero is Omega level or knows 3+ Omegas that could come in and deus ex machina any adventure.

Storm used to have to concentrate just to create rain clouds to water her plants at Xavier's, now she can wreck entire countries with just a thought?! One bad week of PMS and there goes North America!

Still, dust is growing on my book and I'd rather put it to use than not. I'd be willing to play in a game with original characters, or maybe even try DM'ing if there's enough interest. If DM'ing is the way for me, I'd rather it not include existing heroes for a while and then gradually (if at all) introduce desired characters/groups if the game lasts long enough or builds enough interest.

I've found a legal, behind a paywall sure, copy of the rules so wouldn't mind giving it a go.  I'm not interested in GMing it however.

Marvel Multiverse (D616)

I actually just got the Core book and the Cataclysm of Kang module yesterday. I was surprised by how much of the Core book is taken up with hero profiles and how slight the actual mechanics are (not that I think it's a bad thing, I was just surprised).

I need to give the whole thing another thorough read-through, but I might be up for GM'ing a short game for original heroes.

Maybe we do a scenario where ordinary people get power from an external source to serve an important purpose of some sort? That would let us significantly level up a couple of times (as they learn to use their power and/or the Source gives them more, or whatever) so we can see how the system work at different tiers?

You've certainly got my interest! I'd also like to get my copy of the book to work for me, rather than sitting around being sad.

I'm up for trying out the rules. Annoying how they can't sell PDFs or whatever, but not the end of the world.

I'd also be interested in giving this system a shot.
