West End Games Star Wars (d6 system)

Just got back from Disney and the whole Star Wars experience (for the second time) and I’d really love to play a d6 game set in the Empire time frame (post new hope pre return of the Jedi).

I’m a huge Star Wars nerd and have to say the d6 system is my favorite. I’d prefer a straight game using the core templates rather than a bunch of fancy customizations (although I do think the destiny pool is a really fun mechanic from edge of the empire).

Anyway, I’d love to have someone run this!

Mmm the old West Ends games version. It was a bit wacky but fun. And they're are like 2 not-really-official versions I think that were cleaned up and the  rules made a bit better, something REUP for the acronym or something. There were a LOT of adventures and modules for it too if I remember correctly. Could be fun to play. Quite a few nostalgia-feeling game requests lately! lol

There are a lot of players for WEG d6 Star Wars here on RPOL...I'm one of them!

I tried to run a game here a few years back, but it didn't last very long. I could maybe try it again, but I would be recycling adventures from my F2F game (5 years and counting, but as my "break from D&D" campaign).

BTW, the fan edit PDF is REUP which stands for Revised, Expanded, Updated. I find most of the stuff in it to be fairly balanced. There are things online that are definitely not.

I’m game to try if you are! I don’t mind recycled content.

I was always partial to second edition versus the reup. I felt like the reup sort of overcomplicated things. But that’s an edition I’ve played in a lot. My vote would also be for using one of the templates from the book. Customization starts to get messy and broken and I think the templates do a good job of controlling the narrative.

But I just want to play. So whatever you want to do is fine with me.

Agreed on templates only, though I don't mind switching around the flavor text.

My F2F game is a bit of a mismash of 1E, 2E and REUP content. I like the simpler starship combat of 1E, for example, but also love the wild die mechanic.

I will get things set up soon and let you know.

So excited.

I’m not saying I won’t make an Ewok bounty hunter.

Uhhhh...please don't? It would depend on what era the game was in as well I suppose since they weren't really known til after the Return of the Jedi, lol.

Actually they apparently were around before the clone wars.

Can't expect everyone in the galaxy to be familiar with every sentient species, when there are thousands of them.

My home game is set during the Rebellion era (last session they helped some Rebel pilots escape an Imperial planet in time to join the battle of Endor, so it's heading into the post-war era after years of play), but if players want, I could shift the time frame earlier or later for this RPOL game.

Well, you are the one offering to run, and since you'll be using things from your home game, which is set during the Rebellion time, that's makes the most sense. And if I remember correctly, WEG Star Wars was mostly kind of defaulted to expecting you to play Rebels during the Rebellion.

I've created the game. Here's the link: link to another game

The game is set during the Rebellion (limited numbers of Jedi), but there's no obligation to join the Rebellion. That's up to the players.

Uhhh...which REUP book are you using? I just realized there's an initial one and then apparently a 2nd edition one? Not sure if the templates are the same in each (though I suppose templates didn't really change all that much).

I didn't realize there are two. I'll post a link to the one I have.

I have added you both to the game, and posted a link to the version of REUP that I have (and lots of other WEG SW resources).

I turned on the Players Wanted flag. From my experience with WEG SW games in the past, both the one I ran and ones I've played in, there will be quite a few people petitioning to join. I'm looking for two or three more players, but it shouldn't take long.

We can probably manage everything else in game so the Moderators don't get angry.
