Mechwarrior?

Anyone up for running a Mechwarrior game? Preferably set in the decades before the Clans arrival, prob after the 3rd and before the 4th Succession wars.

I have seen a few of these get started, and not one has lasted past the first fight that i know of.

But i would like to see one last.

There was one with several Merc Lances/Companies that lasted awhile before the GM bailed. That game ended about 11 years ago.

Yeah, mech combat can be an issue, but, I think using the free Battltetch Quick Start Rules, with a simple change that a mech is considered destroyed after CT or head loss. Destroyed leg = no MP, every other area = weapons lost. Using megamek as a way to keep track of imagery and boards.

I mean, yes it can still be slow when mech combat arises but if the campaign has combat as a big thing, not a trivial everyday occurence then perhaps it is workable?

Some interest. Not familiar with the RPG side of BT. Would like to see more than mech battles though.

I would be interested in this as well. I don't know much about the setting, other than a game I picked up off a Steam sale. Dune with giant stompy mechs? Yes, please!

Interesting you would say that Tipped Velvet. I'm working on a mech force myself, using an arid mineral planet as the background. Along with Weylan-Yultani signs on some of the buildings & equipment. And Skynet, ComStar, Coca Cola, etc. I'm quite sure some of those buildings will take "collateral damage ..." But I digress from the topic, 3rd & 4th Succession Wars. Not that familiar with the history.

I just got hooked up with the Mechwarrior: Destiny book from a family member.  Anyone still interested in playing as a lance under a larger mercenary company in the lead-up to the clan invasion?

...for the record, if it's the game I think it is, that GM didn't bail. They passed away.

I'd also be interested in seeing some more non-mech battle RP. It seems to be where BT games fall apart, people don't seem interested in anything other than the big stompy robots in my experience.

I'm not familiar with that system, though I apparently have a copy of it. I've played a bit of the older Mechwarrior (and Battletech) games, and A Time of War sort of not long ago - and quite a few of the various Battletech and MechWarrior video games - but I'm not big into the lore and all the knowledge aside from broad strokes.

I picked up a Battletech book on a lark from my local used bookstore and I have to admit it's better written than I expected. It's a war book, obviously, but there is also a lot of political maneuvering and even a bit of romance, which is good.

I also learned that the cockpits of battlemechs are hot, sweaty places and that sometimes women go into battle topless? I can't imagine going in bewbs-free but here we are...

If you're still recruiting, I'd be interested.

I've been looking to play in a BT game for a long time.

The only BT books I've read is the Jardine series. Not the usual BT material I take it, interesting at times. It looked to be one volume that was inconveniently chopped into 3 novellas. Not the usual BT grist mill reading.

It was originally written as three novellas that was later combined into one volume. There was some time between the publishing of the novellas.
