Whimsical D&D (3.5) ideas
I've been craving something... fun. Like, silly fun, not serious fun. There are a couple of concepts that I think would be interesting to at least give a try for a game. Here are a couple, I'm also open to other suggestions if they fit the theme.
Goblins
If you've ever read the Goblins comic, I think it would be a fun concept to try. Basically, at the beginning of the comic, a group of goblin NPCs decide they're tired of getting beat up by the PCs, and decide they're going to get character classes and fight back. My idea would be a group of monster races, probably using Savage Species progressions, with a character class gestalted on the other side. In the comic, the characters also joke about rules of the game, breaking the 4th wall, but that isn't as important to me as long as the overall feel of the game is that it isn't taken too seriously.
Legends of Avantriss - Call of the Feywild
This is another piece of media from outside the site that I'm pulling inspiration from. Avantris is a homebrew world that I found out about from their Twitch streams, where they record themselves playing 5th edition tabletop games. One of the series of streams is based on the concept that the whole party is within, and being affected by, the feywild, which causes wacky and sometimes dangerous things to happen to them, seemingly at random, or sometimes as an exchange for something else. Need information on where to find the bad guy? Looks like you're going to be talking backwards for the next day. This will be a bit more serious than the other game, although that probably won't last long, by the time the fey have their way with the PCs.
