Jed Black:
The weight of the mines doesn't matter either way to him - he's overloaded anyway.
Once he burns through a few mags and throws a few grenades it may be worth him ditching them (or preferably using them to blow the crap out of some Russians).

Why not drop a grenade in the bag of mines and throw the whole bag! It would work in Hollywood!!!

Fuse - am I correct in assuming that Mitch isn't aware of what happened when the grenade went off?  I.e. he doesn't know the status of Varis or Andrzej?

Thanks.

Re: OOC Thread 6 (group 0)

In reply to Caleb Mulcahy (msg #2):

If only it were so simple. Having IRL experience with explosives I know that's not likely to do shit besides waste a grenade. :(

No, there are a few other options though:
1. use as intended with tripwires, etc - not likely!
2. plug in a fuse, light, throw and run - possible, provided Meyer has the necessary items as per the set up for the mission.
3. get really creative (and potentially suicidal) by tying a string, wire, cord, etc to the detonating mechanism, throw, and then pull to activate - problem? the fuse gets pulled as it's thrown and BOOM in your face. I think this one should be reserved for Oskar.

Unless Tomasz has ditched it he should be wearing NATO issue webbing with at least four STANAG mags in it, just in case you want some more ammo......

"...and a few hundred meters away, Varis felt a great warmth, like the universe was slowly righting itself. It passed - all things pass no matter how wonderful - but in its wake was the sure knowledge that there was a Plan, and they were all part of it, and that somewhere, someone seriously injured was being berated for his cowardice while all his shit was being nicked."

In reply to Robert Mitchell (msg #9):

He didn't ditch it. The webbing is on the floor next to the machinery he was behind. If anyone looks, there are 2 full magazines (one on the weapon) and 3 empties.

The blood trail leads out towards the bay doors that faced the East (the parking lot, the treeline, and the road. It's not so relevant now, but it appears he was either shot by Young's mortar team or by the two car loads of Anjo's men who came rolling in.

"War is hell, you rotten fuck."

I can see that going down real well with the locals Aleksandar, Janusz and Pawe...
What's the message they get out of this? Get scared and wounded and have the nasty American fuck you over. What a way to win friends.

On the other hand Jed would probably have just shot him....

No worries – glad to help!

And I think that Oskar has answered Mike’s question quite succinctly! <G>

I’m glad that Mitch isn’t there – he almost always sees the best in people and would probably try to excuse Tomasz’ cowardice as Tomasz did fight well initially before we reached Charlie position and only ran when it got bad at the wall.

Jed Black:
Not wasting time, Jed moved quickly to the boarded up window and noticed the stationary BTR and mentally assessed the manpower available.

<blue>"Meyer, I want that BTR removed soon as you can."

Leg - it's not directly relevant to me but which BTR are you refering to?

Fuse - please can you clarify something.  Which BTRs are visible from inside the ground floor of the townhouses?  I thought that the 1st BTR was below the level of the north wall of the courtyard (and therefore not visible) and that the wall around the eastern alley was high enough that from the ground floor of the townhouses you couldn't see the 2nd BTR.  Is this correct?

Janusz spit at him. I think we're in the clear.

Besides... these guys are Slavs. They're not Western Europeans. Slavs are different. They dig this shit.

Personally, I would have taken him back with open arms and compassion, but I work at a job that allows me to post to gaming boards and eat creme brulee at my favorite coffee shop at 11am in the morning. Post-apocalypse me might be a terrible, rotten fuck, and I hope to never find out. :)

In reply to Robert Mitchell (msg #14):

If you look at the map, you'll see a BTR about a 120 metres to the east. This is the one hit by the 40mm grenade and Jed's slug earlier.
It had remained motionless for a while but moved a short time ago.
Fuse posted it could be seen through the gaps in the window boards.

The 1st (next to the wall) BTR is not visible to the ground floor with the wall blocking the LOS.

The 2nd (on the road) BTR is partially visible (turret & very top of hull only). Most of it is blocked by the wall, but the slight contours on the ground allow for it to be seen. I need to point out however, that it isn't enough to fire at, and any rockets would probably strike the top of the wall. Basically, I mentioned it only so that you are aware of it's location.

That's what I thought too. Only mentioned it IC so that Meyer would be aware that it'll be his job to deal with it when the time and opportunity comes.

Sorry, I thought that BTR had only been visible when it was comparatively close to the alley wall.

Sorry for any confusion. I really only said it in the narrative because I wanted to indicate that you know it is there... to provide a little more situational awareness or whatever.

In reply to Fusilier (msg #21):

No worries - in my head I had the alley wall as too high to see over and hadn't realised that the BTR was on a raised piece of ground.  It's amazing how each person ends up with a different mental image of a situation based on the same description! <G>

When this is split how much do the loaded RPG-16 weigh on it's own?

1x RPG-16 w/sling + 3 reloads (in a sandbag) (18.4kgs)

Thanks.
