Re: Unit assignments

Yes, I gave a list in the turn post of items the FU have to offer in exchange. Select from the list and the amount you want in exchange for the KPV system.

You are making a bid vs the bids of others... who are also trying to sell heavy weapons to the FU. It's like a silent auction.

Medium. Note that it's the parts to build a still. You need to do that on your own... but you have people who have the skill. Minor point.

Re: Unit assignments

Fuse,

Several trading questions for you:

I assume that the prices from the smugglers are "per item" so the following is correct:

3x .50cal Link Case of 105   - $100 per case for a total of $300.

I'm 99% sure that's what you mean but please can you confirm?

What price will the FU Ketch Captain sell us preserved fish for (including crates to transport it in)?

And if the quantity is substantial will they deliver it to Kaminski's?

Will Makarewicz (the Fisherman Union warehouse captain) trade any of the following for preserved fish and if so what price will he give us?  Ortega would have visited him while waiting for the zodiac to return.

I think that we can supply containers.

AK-47 (Poor Condition) x3
Kbk Tantal (No Stock) x1
SVT-40 Rifle x1
Radom Hunter SA Rifle x1
Mosin–Nagant BA Rifle x1
PM-63 RAK Submachinegun x1 & 25rnd mag x1
M231 Port Gun x1
M9 Pistol x1 & 15rnd mag x1
Revolver .38 WIFAMA x1 & .38cal rnds x11
K-Bar x1
Bayonet (AK) x1
Combat knife w/sheath x1
Hunting Knife x1
Fish carving knife x1

Everyone (including NPCs) - if there is something on the list above that you want please say before we trade it away.

Ta,

Andy.

Re: Unit assignments

I'm having a stab at trade values here.

Smugglers:
They're operating a nearly 100% mark up on weapons and a 300-500% mark-up on ammunition.

Given the fact that she's expensive, I'm hoping that if we offer our mortar bombs at 150-200% mark-up that'll she'll take the offer. It should be a good one because the 81mm rounds can be used in Eastern or Western mortars so they can be sold to anyone with either an 81mm or 82mm mortar.

I propose a price of $100 per mortar round with a bottom price of $75.

I'd also propose getting the:
Carl Gustav: $1500
3 boxes of .50 cal: $300
1 box of 14.5mm: $150
1 box of 7.62mmN Belted: $165

For a total of $2115

That means we offer 21 mortar bombs initially but go up to 28 rounds at worst and give them something for the $15 if they take 21 and forget about the $15 if they hold out for more.

As for the Fisherman's Union, Closed Auctions are tricky. The two guns are worth $3000 each and the mount between $1000 and $2000 so a maximum of $8000. If we cut our profits too much there's no point selling it so what if we break it into instalments that allow the FU to spread the cost:
1) Down payment of the makings of a medium still ($2000, I'm assuming that the extra $500 of the cost would be labour) and 200 days of food ($1000)
2) After that, the FU will supply us with 100 days of food every week from the start of November until the end of January. That's $2,000 a month for three months.
3) That would cost the FU a total of $9000 which is a bit more expensive than the original price but has the benefit of only having to face up $3000 initially. After that the payments are almost inconsequential for the FU.
4) To sweeten the deal we can point out that the two extra spaces on the mount represent the potential to upgrade if they can buy more KPVs and we can offer them any KPVs we find along the way at a set price of $3000, bearing in mind that prices are probably going to go up over the winter.

If they FU accept the deal, we have solved our food issues until February as we only have to find two days food a week: if we have to we can run on short rations. We'll also be able to produce 35 litres of fuel a day which isn't great but gives us some self-sufficiency.

What do you all think?

Re: Unit assignments

I've been thinking about this as well and I have a slightly different approach that has the disadvantage of not giving us a future income of food but does resolve everything now.

I think that the trade is looking like the following:

Sell to Makarewicz (the Fisherman Union warehouse captain):
AK-47 (Poor Condition) x3
Kbk Tantal (No Stock) x1
SVT-40 Rifle x1
Radom Hunter SA Rifle x1
Mosin–Nagant BA Rifle x1
PM-63 RAK Submachinegun x1 & 25rnd mag x1
M231 Port Gun x1
M9 Pistol x1 & 15rnd mag x1
Revolver .38 WIFAMA x1 & .38cal rnds x11
K-Bar x1
Bayonet (AK) x1
Combat knife w/sheath x1
Hunting Knife x1
Fish carving knife x1
Total value: $TBC

Buy from Makarewicz:
Preserved fish - $TBC

Trade to the Captain of the FU ketch:
KPVx2 in a quad mount – KPVs have a book value of $3000 each and estimate the mount at $1000 gives us a total of $7000

Buy from the Captain of the FU ketch:
Parts for a medium still – book value complete is $2500
Preserved fish - $TBC

That should give us a still to use and hopefully a decent amount of preserved fish.  We can then do the following:

Buy from the Smugglers:
Carl Gustav M2 Launcher x1 - $1500
.50cal Link Case of 105 x3 - $300
14.5mm Link Case of 100 x1 - $150
RPG-7 HEAT Round x1 - $100
7.62mmN Link Case of 600 x1 - £165
Total value: $2215

Paying with preserved fish if possible and mortar rounds if we need to.

Additionally I think that we might need to consider selling the AGS-17 as we don’t have any ammo for it.  If we could trade it to the Captain of the FU ketch as well as the KPVs then I think that we should look to buy the following as well from the smugglers:

SPG-9 73mm Recoilless Gun x1 $2700
73mm HEAT x8 - $4,400
73mm HE x2 - $500

That’s going to cost us a lot more than the fish we gain for the AGS-17 so we’ll have to trade a number of the mortar shells but it would at least give us a heavy weapon with ammo.

One alternative is to sell the mortar and shells entirely.  Do we actually have anyone in the Mad Dogs who can both use a mortar and wants their character to take on that role?  If your character is capable of using a mortar (Heavy Artillery skill) and you want to do that in the game please speak up now.

What do you think?

Andy.

Should we wait off purchasing the ammunition until we have had a chance to work out what is available at all the markets ? Great work though !

The deal with the FU for the KPVs seems to have a time factor in it so we could miss the opportunity to get ourselves a medium still and some food.  We might need to take the deal even if it's a bad one.

Agreed though I don't think the smugglers are going anywhere soonish. So we could at least recon the markets for ammunition. The Carl Gustav we will have to take though as there were none available earlier.

Re: Unit assignments

Yes, price is per item.

You don't know how much the FU Ketch Captain will trade for. You're making a bid vs other bids. They would deliver if necessary.

Makarewicz (the Fisherman Union warehouse captain) is reaching the limit to how much fish he will sell you. You already bought a ton off of him and he has others to feed and needs to stock up on winter supplies. Fresh stocks ($5.50/kg is that price) might be easier to trade for, but preserved stocks are pretty much done.

The market sells grain/vegetables for $4.00/kg (not including fuel [wood/charcoal/coal] that's necessary to make some of it edible). The only downside is it's hard to buy in bulk there, to prevent hoarding and waste mostly, but also because of the stockpile each merchant has. For a group your size you can spend a day visiting multiple dealers and trade for three days worth each time from the lot.

Another option is to appeal to a larger power - the IB, F.League, or Marian Faction... like how before you were on the IB's ration plan. Each group will have different expectations from you and have you do different things that may or may not interfere with your own short or long term plans. Makarewicz for example mentioned raiding.

You have containers.

AK-47 (Poor Condition) x3 - $250
Kbk Tantal (No Stock) x1 - $250
SVT-40 Rifle x1 - $200
Radom Hunter SA Rifle x1 - $200
Mosin–Nagant BA Rifle x1 - $125
PM-63 RAK Submachinegun x1 & 25rnd mag x1 - $250
M231 Port Gun x1 - $250
M9 Pistol x1 & 15rnd mag x1 - $50
Revolver .38 WIFAMA x1 & .38cal rnds x11 $50
K-Bar x1 - $20
Hunting Knife x1 - $20
Fish carving knife x1 - $25

Re: Unit assignments

In reply to Fusilier (msg # 980):

Thanks for this.

Just to double check that I understand correctly Makarewicz is prepared to pay in fresh fish at $5.50kg for all the items at the prices you've listed.  Correct?

If it is then trading all of the items above gives us a total value of $2190 which equates to just over 398kg of fresh fish.  If I remember fresh fish equates at 2kg per person per day for basic sustenance so that is 199 man days of food, which is too much fresh food because it will go off before we can eat it all.

I therefore think that we trade for 80kg of fresh fish for $440 which will give us 2 days of food for the unit.

Alternatively was Makarewicz interested in buying any of the weapons and paying with something different to fish?

Yes, I've deleted the items he wasnt interested. He'll accept the rest for fresh fish. 80kg is fine... he won't want to give much more anyways.

No, the warehouse captain sells fish only.
