Re: NEED MOAR HORSES

Cheers. It was mainly to make sure the OP team could cross safely.

Although the point about vegetation etc makes me wonder  if building ramps in and out of the water may be an alternative to fixing the bridge? One for the engineers maybe...

Re: NEED MOAR HORSES

I was thinking that. The problem will be the big rig as it could jack-knife or breech by going down or up too steep an angle. There may be a way if we uncouple the trailer and pull it using winches and tow ropes but I'm having problems visualising it.

Re: NEED MOAR HORSES

In reply to John Jameson McCarthy (msg # 920):

Yeah, it's an option, but it would be very difficult if you want to attempt. Worse, if it came uncoupled in the water, mud, and slope, I would imagine that to be a nightmare to reattach.

Ok, the Humvee and BMP-Ambulance have cammo netting each, and there is one left over in the stores (also loaded in the Humvee). The rig is too big, so you can either cover up either the wrecker or Iltis - or try Ferro's suggestion and share the Humvee/Iltis with one and use the other for the wrecker.

Nets are factored in for Observation checks made against you.

The BTR 80 has camo netting as well. If Spartan doesn't beat me to it I'll refer to it ic when Riedel posts (that may not be tonight).

In reply to Fusilier (msg # 923):

No worries. I think we still have a fair amount of food and water there as well iirc.

There was also a parachute in the BTR 60 which you said may have been used for camo (ooc #896). Is that what you were referring to as being in stores?

In reply to Michael Kessler (msg # 924):

No, that's separate as well.

So, totals:
Humvee - net
BMP-Amb - net
BTR-80 - net
1x Wrecker - ?
1x Iltis - ?
1x Rig - ?

1x spare net
1x Parachute (green)

That reminds me though, I never got a call on this gear so it isn't in the inventory. Were you taking it all?

Fusilier:
1x PPSH-43 SMG
2x 7.62mmT 35rnd PPSH-43 mag
53x 7.62mmT
1x Wool Blanket
1x Field Dressing (Postwar)
2x 500ml Bottle (Beer)
1x Basket w/2kg Raspberries Eaten
1x Bullhorn (4x DD Battery)
1x Lantern
1x Flashlight [BROKEN] (but you get the batteries)
2x AA Batteries
1x Hammock (Canvas)
1x Parachute (may have been used for sleeping or cammo for vehicle)
Coax 7.62mmL was already added

I thought it was in the BTR 60, so as long as we have the BTR we have it (at least until such times as we move it somewhere else).

To confirm, radios are on?

Also, for any planned work periods, can you make them 4 hour blocks? Just so it's easy for bookkeeping. If that doesn't fit with your plans then don't worry about it.

I'm starting to work out the tasks that need doing but one that is optional is stripping the BTR. I think we should get what we can from it and then dump it but I want others' opinions.

Hey, if nobody wants the PPSH-41, I would keep it in the Hummer as another quick dismount weapon in case the fifty goes down?  If not, no problem.

Re: NEED MOAR HORSES

Re radios, the OP’s and the command element should have theirs turned on (Kessler’s certainly will be), but it’s a good opportunity for others to get their electronics charged using the charger in the BTR (iirc that’s the only charger we  have – the Mad Dogs’ own one was left behind in Gdansk?). Those assigned to the OP’s could maybe look at having one radio between two so we can get more charged up.

Re the BTR, I agree we should try and strip it of as much as possible.

Re: NEED MOAR HORSES

OK, here's the plan for the next couple of turns.  As always the plan is to try and concentrate PC's and NPC's into groups as much as possible, however if anyone wants to change their PC's assignment please shout and we'll do all possible to make it happen. Likewise, if you've any questions / comments / suggestions, just fire away

We're going to split into two - a recce patrol and the main camp. The recce patrol will push forward to check the ground ahead. In order to try and give as many people as possible an opportunity to be involved in that the provisional plan is as follows:

Humvee
 Ferro (driver)
 Benucci (gunner)
 Kessler
 Reidel

Iltis
 Mulcahy (driver - NPC)
 Ortega (gunner)
 Varis
 Little

It will be a night patrol, so those going on patrol will rest up for the next couple of periods so they're fresh for the patrol.

Everyone else stays in camp as follows:

Character1234
McCarthy BridgeBridge RestRest
FischerBTR Stripping BTR StrippingRest Rest
Lines OP East (Active) OP East (Rest) OP East (Active) OP East (Rest)
O'Brien OP East (Rest) OP East (Active) OP East (Rest) OP East (Active)
Fox OP West (Active) OP West (Rest) OP West (Active) OP West (Rest)
Morgan OP West (Rest) OP West (Active) OP West (Rest) OP West (Active)

Artur (Polish Civie)Bridge BridgeRest Rest
Piotr (Polish Civie)Bridge BridgeRest Rest
Anna Patient Care / Rest Patient Care / Rest Patient Care / Rest Patient Care / Rest
Cassidy Patient Care / Rest Patient Care / Rest Patient Care / Rest Patient Care / Rest

BTR Stripping refers to getting what we can from the BTR 60. If that task doesn't fill the allocated time those doing it will switch to routine vehicle maintenance.

OP Active is hopefully self explanatory. OP Rest means the individual will remain in the OP but will have the opportunity to get some rest (unless anything happens)

Radio Watch station is inside the BTR 80

Janku and Meyer are intentionally omitted

Everyone should have two periods of rest.

Re: NEED MOAR HORSES

Corkman, sorry for any to'ing and fro'ing. To clarify my last IC, the idea is that Tosh and O'Brien man the OP while you, Ferro, and Varis come back to camp and get some food and rest ahead of the night patrol. You can rock up at the BTR if you want and I'll cover it ic, but at the minute it'll just be a warning order (is that the right term?) - full brief is to follow (that may just be an ooc post, not sure)

Re: NEED MOAR HORSES

OK, ooc summary of the recce plan

Iltis, call sign Alpha Two (Leading)
Mulcahy (Driver)
Ortega (Gunner)
Babicevs (Rear passenger, your choice whether left or right)
Little (Rear passenger, your choice whether left or right)

Humvee, call sign Alpha Two (Following)
Ferro (Driver)
Benucci (Gunner)
Kessler (Front passenger)
Riedel (Rear passenger left)

Dismount Squad (if required)
Ortega (ic)
Babicevs
Riedel
Little

Route
Head east through Laczki Myszewskie

Sharp right once we're through, down the road that has the trees on the eastern side (I went this way as there doesn't appear to be a road due east in the direction of Nowinki, so we would have had to cut across the fields)

Take a left onto the road that leads through Trojaki

Stop outside Stobna. We need to get through Stobna and head for Kepki

We'll take it one settlement at a time, scout it out, observe, pass through if it appears safe to do so.

We'll decide whether it's practical to cross the bridge later

Make sense?

Re: NEED MOAR HORSES

Just to illustrate (crudely) here is a cross section of the bridge. There are 4 damaged sections, labelled A-D.

A) It's been repaired by professionals using proper bridging materials. Though it's difficult to see in the dark, Alan estimates that it would certainly hold the weight of all of the vehicles. A return trip may be a little problematic, once Tenza's rig was loaded down with tons of fuel, but for now it won't be an issue.

B) The status of the second damaged section is identical to the first.

C) The third damaged portion of the bridge is gone, with no repairs or substitutes in place. It's a nine meter void, with the dark, moving waters below.

D) The final forth section is viewed only from a distance, as there is currently no way to get over to it for a direct inspection. It's clearly repaired and looks passable, though to what weight restriction is unknown at this point.
