Ferro:
"Tosh, Valkyrie. One man secured on our end. Over." Ferro transmits over the radio. If was unfortunate they didn't know how many were out here. More than one?

Jinny - please note that Tosh doesn't have a radio at present (he was using a manpack one previously) and therefore wasn't able to respond to this transmission.

Apologies.

Andy.

I believe the plan is to strike out to the west now, before the situation on the ground between here and Gdansk gets any worse.

Payment for the ferry may be all that's needed.

Re: Getting up to speed

Out of curiosity, what's the status of the Iltis' weapons (the MAG58 and the AGS17)? are they still fitted to the Iltis? If so can they be dismounted from it and used? (I presume yes for the MAG, not so sure about the AGS).

Re: Getting up to speed

MAG-58 is fitted to the Iltis. The mount for it is DIY setup in a spot that wasn't easy to do (front passenger), and as a result is rather poorly built. It comes loose and isn't stable... but it's currently usable as is the weapon.

The AGS-17 is no longer fitted to the Iltis. It needed a DIY adapter for it to fit to the rollbar mount, but that adapter was bent and destroyed during a roll over. The AGS-17 has no tripod and can't be fired on it's own, so it's currently unusable.

Re: Getting up to speed

OK, the basic plan that Mark and I discussed earlier in the week entailed trying to take down the eastern group of Soviets first, starting with the canal and then working our way westwards towards Bogatka. What we discussed (it's mostly Mark's work, I'm posting it as he's not been around for the last couple of days) was:

We split into three groups
Assault Group #1 - Humvee / Krankenwagen, with some PC's and a militia squad
Assault Group #2 - BTR with most of the PC's and a militia squad
Blocking Force - The  rest of the militia plus a squad formed from ex POW's (All NPC) and Sergeant Fox as liaison between militia and Mad Dogs.

The blocking force, with the Dushka, take up positions in Wislinska, this keeps our retreat open and holds the force a little further west in position.
Assault Group #1 use HMG fire to fix the canal group in position. The militia section follow but keep in cover.
As the fight begins, the BTR which has been hiding swings south and hits the canal group from the rear. It uses fire initially but can dismount our shooters if needs be
Mortar support is available if required

If we neutralise the canal group, the militia section with the BMP and Humvee move to secure the crossing and the two sections in the village hold position. We rinse and repeat with the next unit using the heavy guns to fix them in place and the BTR as a Manoeuvre Group.

If it goes wrong we fall back to Wislinska and regroup.

Potential Assignments (as always, these are not fixed in stone, so if you'd rather have your PC somewhere else just say. The intent is to try and give everyone an opportunity to get involved in the action as much as possible)

Humvee
McCarthy - in overall command of the operation
Riedel - Driver
Muller - Gunner
Anna

The Humvee will serve as a combined platform for command and control / casevac / quick reaction force. If any PC would prefer to swap with Muller and man the Humvee's MG feel free - my thinking was that the BTR group might have more going on

BMP (all NPC)
Krupp - VC
Marshall - Driver
Janku - Gunner

BTR
Kessler - VC
Andropov - Driver
Meyer - Gunner

Fischer - Dismount leader
Little
O'Brien
Babicevs
Lines
Ferro
Benucci
Aleksandr (NPC)

I'm aware that's more than the BTR's internal capacity, the thinking is that at least some - if not all - dismounts will ride on top. Adding a militia squad would mean a total of twelve dismounts, so I'd suggest splitting into smaller subunits, either 3 x 4 man or 2 x 6 man.

Anyone not mentioned above stays back on the island with Tenza and the fuel (I think I've covered everyone, but if I have missed anyone please shout out and accept my apologies).

Any thoughts / comments / suggestions?

What is Frank armed with now?  He used to have a AKM with a drum mag but Fox is using a 7.62mmN rifle I believe.

I ask because if Franks AKM is not being used then some of the mags could be distributed to the POWs with 7.62mmS AKs and Tosh would like the drum mag for his RPK.

I'll suggest this in character if Frank does have an AKM etc that he's not using.

Ta,

Andy.

I'd suggest putting Christensen elsewhere.

Which militia squad is with Assault Group #1 and which is with Assault Group #2?  I'm guessing that one of these will be Fireteam #4 and one will be either Fireteam #1 or #2.  I'd suggest that Christensen is placed with #1 or #2, whichever is attached to one of the Assault Groups, to bolster that militia unit, presuming that there is space on/in the vehicles.

So if we give Andropov's radio to the mortar team, do we have the other PRC-77 in stores or are we going to have to take one from a PC?

Re: Getting up to speed

In reply to Fusilier (msg # 927):

There are a lot of people in Fischer's dismount team with radios so probably one of them should hand theirs across.  O'Brian is probably the logical choice as he's one of the lowest ranks and Cymon has two characters with radios in the dismount team.

Michael Kessler:
Fischer - Dismount leader
Little
O'Brien
Babicevs
Lines
Ferro
Benucci
Aleksandr (NPC)

Just to add a comment about this as one of the teams is a four man militia team I suggest that we split the Mad Dogs in two further four man fireteams.
