Re: General OOC
Mandalorians, or as the people refer to themselves, Mando'a, are a culture unto themselves, discriminating against neither race or sex, as long as you follow the basic code of the Mando. You must speak the language, care and provide for your family, and show up whenever the leader of the culture, Mandalore himself, calls.
Mandalorians are compulsive adopters, and as such, their population is constantly in flux. Originally, there were not even human, though the original species of Mando isn't quite certain. Their armor has changed through the millenia, but for the most part, the T-shaped visor has been their defining aspect for nearly as long as they have been known to the Republic.
During the time of KotR, the Mandalorians had just been beaten back by the Jedi Revan and his followers, after waging a war against the Republic the likes of which they had never seen. The Mando'a were daring, decisive, and showed no mercy for those who would not fight. In the Mando culture, refusal to fight is the ultimate weakness, surpassed only by those who abandon their families or the culture in times of need.
By the Rise of the Empire, the Mando'a were scattered too and fro, and most assumed they were extinct or nearly there, much like the Ryn. Boba Fett was the most famous, but there were others of note, including Jaster Mereel and Jodo Kast.
In the New Republic, the Mandalorians, for the most part, were still sprinkled across the galaxy, fighting for credits, fighting for survival, and fighting for themselves. However, at the invasion of the Yuzzhan Vong, the man who bore the mantle of Mandalore, Fenn Shysa, called upon the people to return to the planet who bore the name of their people, and gather in force to help the New Republic drive the alien invaders back to where they came. Fenn Shysa was later killed, and he passed the title on to Boba Fett, who is probably the most controversial Mandalore in his people's history.
When Jacen Solo started his bid to rule the Galaxy as another Emperor, Boba Fett made another call to the Mando'a, and they once again gathered on a planet that had been ravaged by the Vong. Unfortunately for the rest of the galaxy, the destruction rained upon their planet has revealed a new, massive vein of the Mandalorian steel, known as beskar. And MandalMotors, the primary manufacturing company on Mandalore, has started manufacturing fighters, both for home use and abroad. These new fighters are called Bes'uliik, in the tradition of the old Basilisk War Droids, and they are every bit as lethal as the originals.
And this concludes Mando'a 101. Hope it helped.
