Re: Discussion - Classes & Species

GM Sunset Miko:
Me, I like Gungan soldiers. Now that's an insane Reflex defense.

Wouldn't Scoundrel or Scout work better for Reflex, though?

PC meade352mxs:
Honestly, my favorite species is Zabrak, in both the RCR and SECR.

Zabrak are awesome, heh.  I had a Zabrak Scout/Soldier/Bounty Hunter in play in a game that had to be closed not too long ago, and though I didn't get too much time to discover all his abilities, I really loved the character, he was as tough as they come, heh.

And, to push this thing back on it's tracks (feel free to move the Spaceballs-discussion to the main OOC! :p), what are your thoughts on melee vs. ranged characters?  I've yet to do a melee character that wasn't a Jedi, but I'd like to try out a regular Soldier melee-warrior sometime soon.  But are any of the other classes at all viable for Melee?  Nobles and Scoundrels feel like they'd be far too light on HPs to stand toe-to-toe with the bad guys (though Nobles do have a new Fencing talent tree in KotOR CG...), but could it be done with a Scout, putting emphasis on mobility and moving around the battlegrounds?

Re: Discussion - Classes & Species

I have a melee based Trandoshan npc in the table top game that I'm currently running, set during the tail end of the New Sith Wars, just before the rise of Darth Bane. He dual wields vibroblades and has done well. A player in the game also has a melee character, a wookie soldier that is just hankering to get ahold of a vibro axe and start chopping people in half.

Edit: If you're going to go melee, before KotOR, you almost had to go soldier, just to get the armor talent tree since you can't count on cover/concealment when you're going toe to toe with someone.

Re: Discussion - Classes

That's pretty much the way.
If you want to go for Melee as Soldier although the Brawler Talent Tree is pretty nice, I think You should begin with Armor Specialist and then move on to either Weapon Spec or Brawler.

Although it was only a Hybrid I played(Mandalorian Soldier with a focus on Rifle/Exotic Weapons) he was almost on par with the Jedi. The Moment our Melee Jedi was LV 5 I think it was, my Character was still a pretty good Melee fighter, but his specialisation was Rifles with Exotic Weapon Support and could only beat the Jedi with the Combination of all of the mentioned, but then it would be almost a certain defeat.

I think I have to buy the KotOR book next I am getting more and more excited about the content.

What do you guys prefere as the Battle Commander Character? My Group thinks only with a healthy Multiclass you can really go for a Battle Commander(We had a Soldier/Noble going for Officer)

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure I've never heard of a "Otok Kreeth" before. . .

Re: Discussion - Classes

Hmmm, interesting.  It may not have been me, then.  I've been on a Zabrak Scout/Soldier kick lately, and I haven't noticed anyone else playing them.  Ah well.  Reeth Ortak, maybe?

Re: Discussion - Classes

I'm sure that unless it's posted up on the WotC website, you're supposed to buy the book for stuff like that. I'm not sure its legal. I'm not familiar with copyright law though.

Re: Discussion - Classes

I believe rallenc82 is correct - at least technically.  While we probably can't post things like that in public threads, however, we can share it with our gaming groups - as long as it's bits and pieces of published books, and not the entire things.  At least, that's about what I was told when I asked Cruinne about it when it came up at an earlier time.  And, since I already have that particular species typed up, anyway, I figure I'd throw this link out there:

link to a message in another game

It's got Miraluka, Arkanian (including Arkanian Offshoot), Kathar, Feeorin and Bith from published sources, and a couple of others that were published online by WotC.

Re: Discussion - Classes

Also, any chance of stats for these guys, do we think?

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Celegian

Because Jedi Master brain-in-a-jar is just too great a concept to pass up.

Re: Discussion - Classes

Here is one person's take:

Celegian
Ability Modifiers: -2Dex, +2Int, +2Wis, -2Cha
Large-size: -1 Size penalty to Reflex Defense, -5 Size penalty on Stealth. Encumbrance x2, +5 Size bonus to Threshold.
Base Speed: Within a cyanogen atmosphere or floating life-support chamber, Celegians fly at a base speed of 4 squares. Celegians have a swim speed of 10 squares in the cyanogen seas of their homeworld.
Telepathy: Celegians can use the Use the Force skill to create a telepathic link untrained and without the Force Sensitivity Feat. In addition, the DC for using Telepathy is reduced by 5.

Re: Discussion - Classes

Hm, are there stats for Jawas?  I'd think that would be a popular one to get stats for.

But then again, do you have any idea how much they stink?

Re: Discussion - Classes

Saga Edition Conversion Guide:
Jawa +2 Dex, –2 Str, –2 Cha; Small (+1 Reflex Defense, +5 Stealth); speed 4 sq.; may take 10 on Survival checks in desert terrain, reroll Mechanics checks when repairing an object, vehicle, or droid; darkvision; languages: Jawa and Jawa Trade Language.

Awww... only -2??

and Jawa's are aparently pretty bad-ass...  any chances of getting an All Jawa game going?

"Salvaging on the High Sands! - A Jawa Story" ...sounds like a winner to me!

o.O

That, that would just be wrong. For some reason I'm thinking it would be like having a Kobold PC in a DnD campaign. Only the entire party is kobolds....
