Re: Insert Game Idea Here

True, summer is a time filled with long consecutive hours of free time.  Combine that with the June Sales on Steam and people like me are spending a lot of time playing videogames and forgetting to check on rpol.  Or they get Netflix or some such movie service and they start binging on shows.  It's sad because you would think that with more free time people would be starting games on rpol.  That's the curse of having too much free time.

Re: Insert Game Idea Here

what is the definition of "the player they are looking for"?

;P

I wouldn't mind hosting a game, but what I want out of a star wars story is usually not what the players want.

I don't like Jedi/Sith focus story lines.  They are a rarity, not the norm.

I guess the old style West End games adventures more then the Saga Jedi epic battles.

I'd love to play in a game where no one was force sensitive a la Wraith Squadron.

Re: Insert Game Idea Here

That's true.  I find everyone has their own idea of what the perfect Star Wars game is.  So while you may be the player you're looking for, the game may not be the Star Wars game you're looking for.  And even if it is the Star Wars game you're looking for, the GM may not be your cup of tea.  Some GMs are long-winded and move things at a slower pace, while others shoot at you right out of the gate and are mono-syllabic.

It would be really nice if there was somewhere for GMs make posts describing their GMing style.  I think the #1 reason why players quit on games is that they don't care for the GM's style.  Unfortunately, it's hard to tell those things until the game has started.  GMs bait you in with all sorts of promises.  Then it turns out not to be the game for you.

We could just use character descriptions for that, use the normal area to explain your play/gm style.

Re: Insert Game Idea Here

I like the descriptions for GM style, or people could put that in their game write-ups.

Wraith Squadron, the newest version "Mercy Kill" had a Force sensitive Jesmin Tainer. Her mother was Tyria Sarkin Tainer was also Force Sensitive but didn't really have much ability in it during the series that I recall (I'm not sure I read all of them though). But according to Wookieepedia she went on to become a Jedi Knight (Tyria).

I am interested to hear what GM styles people prefer when they are a player.

PC Grimjack:
what is the definition of "the player they are looking for"?

That was my attempt at the jedi mind trick. However, it seems to have a diminishing effect across the internet.

I would prefer a game that is not jedi/sith centric and greatly prefer one that does not involve them as a major part of the story.

I would like to be able to play an alien, and in a non-solo game would greatly prefer a motley crew of all aliens or a group of the same alien race.

I would like to play in a game based in a timeline around the original trilogy or beyond, but before the Yuuzhan Vong.

I could play in a game where the group is anywhere on the scale of morality good, bad, or Lando.

With all of the above being said, I would rather play game that does not fall into one of the above statements then not play at all.

Re: Insert Game Idea Here

link to another game

Then have I got the game for you! I'm guessing.  I'm only half-right.  I have a game I started only a month ago that is now missing two of its players.  They're the two Wookiee players, and in a game called The Battle of Kashyyyk it must have Wookiees!

So is it a Jedi-focused game or not?  Yes and no.  It's a Clone Wars Era game so there are a couple of Jedi players (one of which is one of our missing Wookiees) but more of the players are not Jedi.  It's only a 3rd level game so the Jedi aren't all that powerful.  But they don't have to be because right now it is a simple droid-bash.  Yes, the two Jedi players are Padawans and no, their Master is not in the middle of the fight.  Their Jedi Master conveniently had both his arms cut off is backstory and it waiting on his new arms to be grown in a cloning tank.  So he can only offer advice... if asked.  Though the Clone Commander is doing a good job of offering tactical advice and objectives for the players.

Since this is happening at the tailend of the Clone Wars, should the game last so long, it will enter into Order 66.  By then the Jedi Padawans should have gained a level or two and be able to fend off some Clone Scouts.  And then it's "run to the forest" time.  Or more likely for space since half the players are wiz at flying ships.  So yeah... somehow I have to work that into the plot.

Re: Insert Game Idea Here

I am looking for a game for this character.

Be warned it a bit long winded.
Vislor Farlander and his 3 DUM-series pit droids on a Gymsnor-3 light freighter  "Forlorn hope"

Vislor Farlander has a shady past.  His parents are dead, his mother died giving birth to his younger sister and then his father died later in the clone wars as a CIS trooper towards the end of the clone wars.  He and his sister where left to raise themselves in an orphanage, but Vislor was older by about 13 years so he was kicked out of the orphanage sooner then his sister.  Vislor found himself trying to survive taking odd jobs and trying to make ends meet for himself.  He got caught up with the wrong people and the next thing he knew he was boosting speeders and flipping them.

He never hurt no body, but he also never backed down from a good scrap, which of course earned him enemies that would soon turn on him.  The thugs that he ran with sold him out.  He took the fall for a speeder theft ring that was uncovered by the local system security force.  Vislor had a choice as a first time offender enlist or do hard time.  One institution or another.... he decided on the Imperial Navy.

Vislor went through basic easy enough, even was headed for the naval core of capital ship pilots.  He was stationed on the Imperial Customs Cruiser 'Suspiria' under Imperial training officer Dragen.  Dragen was a decent enough fellow, a bit subscribed to the New Order (the general idea that Humans guide the universe's destiny - the one thing that makes the Empire the clear bad guys), but not viciously so.  Officer Dragen was an optimist and a believer, not a hate-monger.

Suspiria was a decent enough post, quietly circling the Wheel and stopping trade ships and freighters that passed through the neutral station.  The job allowed him gain skills that turned him from a petty thief punk into a skilled man.  Vislor's skills as a capital ship pilot where noticed and Dragen put him in with the big dogs, being that he was in line to be a Naval pilot for bigger ships.  Which Vislor saw as a possibly for a promotion.

Former thugs shouldn't be officers, according to the hot-shots in the officers' corps. And well... Vislor apparently proved that true.  Vislor's upbringing had not prepaired him for these social interactions.  His lack of thick skin, but no lack of tough knuckles, proved to be his undoing.

He took out his agressions on Lieutenant Mortan, a superior officer, who was taunting him.  The same Lieutenant Mortan who is now currently serving as flight leader of the Suspiria's TIE contingent.  Hitting a ranking officer got him washed out really quick, he was discharged out of the Imperial Navy (no severance package) and was left to make his own way.

He started working as a freighter pilot with lager company ships, a regular companyman.  That wasn't paying the bills fast enough, so he saved up some creds, got a loan from the Banking Guild and bought his hunk of junk that he calls a cargo ship and now works as an independent cargo hauler.

In his Gymsnor-3 light freighter the "Forlorn hope" Vislor started plying his trade as an independent freight courier.  He even took on a co-pilot, a Selonain by the name of Kadanac. The otter like alien, Kadanac, and Vislor became fast friends.  They both shared a harsh upbringing, and a fresh outlook on what life should be like.  For a few years they carved out a bit of a life for themselves, always just one missed payment from total financial ruin, but at least they where free.

That is untill Seijek City starport in the Aargonar system.  Close to defaulting on his loan on the "Forlorn Hope" Vislor had no choice but to take on some contraband cargo to make ends meet.  Forever the faithful friend and business partner, Kadanac agreed to take on the cargo.  It was a milk run, but its never that easy.  The Forlorn Hope had engine troubles inroute to the drop off, and ran across an Imperial customs Cruiser.  The same cruiser Vislor served on, the same cruiser that both Dragen and Mortan still severed on.

The Forlon Hope limped to a Seijek city and set down for repairs, while Kadanac and Vislor franticly tried to figure out a better end to the events in route.  At the docks, Vislor was able to fast talk Dragen into remembering the old times and the two agreed to meet up and have a drink or two.  Dragen met Vislor at his ship, and was introduced to Kadanac.  The two left to catch up on old times, while Kadanac tended to the ship's repairs.

While Vislor was drinking up spirits, Kadanac was facing a life or death situation.  Upon meeting Kadanac, Dragen messaged Mortan to handle inspection of the Forlorn Hope.  Not for contraband, but to make sure that the alien was making the repairs properly.  Mortan found this as an excuse to make Kadanac and Vislor's life miserable.  Mortan's men taunted Kadanac, pushed him around, forced him to the edge.  Vislor had no clue what was going on while Dragen smiled and fed him stories of the past.

When Dragen's comm went off Vislor knew it was going to be bad.  When Dragen's smile faded into a flat emotionless face, Vislor knew it was worse then bad.  Dragen turned of his comm and looked a Vislor.  "Your Co-pilot was not compliant to Imperial rule, he resisted arrest when asked to prove his citiznship of the Empire....the alien provoked the guard and it was put down."

""IT" was put down?"

Vislor could not comment, in desbelief he ran out of the bar heading towards the docks that he had left only a few hours ago.  Imperial customs patrol officers stood around the scene, around the Forlon Hope.  Around a scene with a body covered with a plastic sheet.  Vislor's gut pulled one way as his mind raced the other.  He tried to get trought to Kadanac but each attempt only increased his chance to get arrested himself.

Dragen knew that when he sent Mortan and his men to his ship this would happen.  They didn't even care about the cargo that could have gotten both of them thrown in prision.  All they cared about was racism and revenge.  Vislor waited around Seijek city for the local security force to release Kadanac's body.  The Imperial Custom cruiser had already left the system a few days before.  He cremated Kadanac's body and had his remains gravity pressure formed into a gem, that one of his DUM-series pit droids now wears.

Vislor is a broken man.  Torn by angush over loosing his friend, angered by an Imperial system he though could give him a better life, wanting to taste revenge on the 2 people most directly responsible for his lot.

Clone Wars Mandalorians

Deathwatch, the name evokes a chill in those who have heard the stories. The group of Mandalorian radicals who adhere to the old ways of conquest. The recent attacks have brought them out of urban legend and into the light once more though, resulting in the return of their oldest foes.
Jaster Mereel's ideals, the Supercommando Codex, lived on through more than just Jango Fett. Those who followed it, the True Mandalorians, had been hunted down and nearly wiped out. Casius Cadera, a supercommando pilot, had been thought dead months before the treachery that slew all but Fett. He was lost in a Starfighter crash, but he owed his life to his armor, even though he fell into a two year coma and was still crippled.
His survival unknown, and his brothers all gone, he quietly rebuilt the True Mandalorians with the aid of only the most trusted companions.
---
Stepping out of the shadows, a blaster bolt lanced through the air and destroyed the assassin droid that had been poised to kill the woman he had been sent to find. Startled at being saved from her certain death she whipped around only to pale at the armored visage that greeted her.
"Are you here to kill me?" she questioned with as much dignity as she could muster.
Amused, the figure let out a chuckle.
"Now now Duchess Satine, no need to look at me like that. I'm your new bodyguard.
You didn't think, that with Deathwatch crawling out of their hole, that the true Mando'a would be gone either did you
?"

I desire a Clone Wars era Mandalorian campaign (obviously) set within the initial events of the Deathwatch arc of the show. The party would ideally consist of Mandalorians with the possibility of two tag alongs. One Jedi and Republic 'watchers'.
Starting level would ideally be 4-6 that way you represent well trained warriors and can be thrown into the events with little pause, as well as either a higher point buy or a dang good dice roll possibility.

Mission points
  • Exterminate Deathwatch
  • Protect Mandalore and her children (the planet)
  • Remind the Galaxy of the might of its fiercest warriors

Insert Game Idea Here

Due to popular demand, I'm going to start running solo/duo Star Wars games again.  They're a lot of work for me so I'm only going to accept a few players.

I like to start out solo games at a single setting.  But then players can travel away from there.  This time I've chosen The Wheel.  It has an interesting political situation, anyone could be passing through it, and it creates opportunities for characters who have any sort of loyalties to be there adventuring.  As my usual for solo games I'm doing it during the Rebellion Era.  I don't much care for Jedi and all their mumbo jumbo.  Having it set in the Rebellion Era prevents me having to read a billion requests to play Jedi, or worse, Sith.

Huh.  No, I don't think I got any RTJs for a bountyhunter, not per se.  There are a couple of characters who could do bountyhunter type jobs.  But they're not going for the Bountyhunter Prestige Class.  It's a little odd that no one requested that.  It's a good thing to because I don't really have any bountyhunter type jobs in mind.

Insert Game Idea Here

Any GMs out there willing to accept?
Proposed Game Summary: I want to play an 'android' jedi/bounty hunter

Character summary:
Name: Gambit
 Age: 23
 Species: Human
 Gender: Male
 Class/Specialisation:(Guardian or Consular)(or Force Adept) Jedi/Bounty Hunter
 Appearance
<------My current Portrait
Background & Goals:: A bounty Hunter who has little jedi power, but capable of developing more power. He is on the middle betweeen dark and good. He may go darkside and move up in ranks and be someone of importance and becoming an emperor or something.

What sorts of things does your character what to achieve?
Fight and destroy other jedi, or others who go against what my character believes in.
What do you want your character to achieve?
To be stronger and develope more jedi powers
Is there anything specific you want or don't want to have happen?
I don't want my character killed off. Haha

Scale between Railroad and Sandbox: How much do you want each of us to be in charge of the direction of the plot? Me to put you on a set course, or give you free reign to wander the world/universe and tell you what you find?
I would like a set of two railroads and free reign to choose from the two and may become a traitor. Or work on both sides (sort of like Zechs Merquise in Gundam Wing who fought on both sides and sometimes concealed his identity)
Let me know what you think
Please reply
Thanks for your time
Cheers

Desired House rules:
Star Wars Saga
or any Star Wars

Posting rate: once every couple days

I would need help creating a background and character sheet

Insert Game Idea Here

Looking for someone to GM a game thats already in play or to co-gm

link to another game

The current GM deals with ADD and depression which can be an impediment for him and his confidence to keep the game going isnt very good.

The concept is sound and the squad is made up of 4 (Squad Leader, Sniper, Demolitions Specialist and Medic) with room for a Technician.

The game is just in recruitment phase.  Two already accepted with 2 just working up their backstories before being added.

If a GM wished to take the whole set of reigns then perhaps the current GM could play the technician.

Just thought I'd try to help him out by checking here
