Abilene

When the Major and his cowboys reach the trail, they see the herd of longhorns has spread far to the north and east. The campsite, which was near the middle of the grazing herd, is now south of most of the beeves. The other cowboys have continued to herd the cattle to the east and north, allowing them to move after the gun fire, but pushing them further away from the trail.

It will be a task to round them up in the morning, but at least the longhorns didn't stampede.

Major Gray stops and surveys the scene.

Re: Abilene

"Resume the night herd," says the Major, glancing at Ayasha, JEB and Travis. "The beeves should be quiet now, I reckon."

"Ride out and tell the others to return to camp," he adds, to Cole, Randy and Art.

Re: Abilene

There's little doubt Joe Turner, Randy's good friend, will have questions about the encounter.  While riding back to the camp with the others, he tries to recount what he can.
