The herbalist named Walker continues to surprise his pards and his adversaries. Running forward, into the midst of the rest of the bandits who remain settled in their favored positions, he reaches the middle of the mesa. Near the end of his run he fires a shot with the Starr, aiming at the man lying prone on the large boulder above the rise to the north. It's close range, but the man has cover and the New Yorker sees dust and rocks spewing from the lip of the boulder, a foot or so beneath the bandit's position.
The rifleman had seen the bandit moving to this right, having less cover than most of his other possible targets at this moment. Putting that man in his sights and squeezing his rifle's trigger, Jake notices that this man is wearing a distinctive Stetson. No doubt, thinks the Texan, his shot is on target, hitting the man in the area of his right hip. Unlike some of the other yellow-necks, this feller stands his ground, apparently managing to stay in the fight despite what Richardsen first thought was a solid punch. The Stetson levels a carbine and seems fit to return fire.
Just as Walker was drawing within a few feet of the rocks, with no one quite sure whether he intended to stop or continue his run though the heart of the bandit camp, another rifle report rings out immediately after Richardsen's. The bullet pounds the herbalist's collarbone but it fails to find purchase, instead ripping through the fabric in his overcoat and leaving the New Yorker a mite rattled.

OOC: Prone, as Jake knows, provides a modifier 2 cover, which made the difference against Walker for the bandit atop the boulder. The Judge's read is that Dave has +2 for Joker, -2 for two actions in the round, which made his roll with no mods appropriate. Needing two better than usual TN, Walker's 5 misses when the cover modifier is applied.
Jake's opponent has cover as well, but Jake's roll was high enough that there is no need to calculate. Ageed, the Marksman would apply in this case but irrelevant in this case. The WC spent a benny to soak the one wound dealt by Jake. He succeeds, fending off the wound and unshaking.
08:23, Today: Judge Messalen rolled 6,1 using d8,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 6,1. JH soak (WC benny).
EP's attack on Walker is a hit. +2 for Aim action last round (the Judge posted last round that EP took an unseen action); -2 for Walker's current cover. Short range for the Henry rifle, therefore a 5 hits. The damage result is Shaken. Walker can choose:
- to unshake immediately by using a benny
- to wait until his next turn to get the automatic Spirit roll to unshake
08:36, Today: Judge Messalen rolled 5,3 using d8,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 5,3. EP Walker Henry.
08:37, Today: Judge Messalen rolled 7 using 2d8, rerolling max with rolls of 2,5. EP Walker Henry dmg.
It is Riggenberg's turn. The Judge's notes in msg #399 still apply, in regard to Earnest's LOS (even after fixing the map for his correct position at the beginning of the round).
