At this point, I'm of a mind that Jake will take the turn-off and head off towards the mesa and camp. He was considering doing that any way, but seeing two of his pards head in that direction makes his decision a little easier.

Can I assume Daniel is done tending to Earnest now? He healed 2 wounds, right? So at this point he has one left.

No ... per msg #333 in Ch27, Danile healed only 1 Wound. Earnest has 2 Wounds remaining, which could possibly still be healed by someone else with the Healing skill before the "golden hour" runs out. After that, it will take Natural Healing.

And for all intents and purposes, sure, feel free to move on, having 2 Wounds, as we continue free posting. But remember that it really takes 10 minutes, which hasn't passed yet in the game. It's been only 90 seconds or so. The Judge's point being: refrain from having Earnest get up and join people elsewhere at this moment, rather, let the others make some posts about their activities after the Chase ends before having the professor get up and move about. Those minutes will easily pass during player conversation and narrative. Meanwhile, you can post conversation with Daniel, narrative about getting caught up on the action, etc. I'll post for Daniel to get that started.

The intent was to let you all lead the way towards some unresolved threads (e.g., the young girls, Red Shirt's captive, whatever you do next). That said, no problem skipping ahead if you all are hesitant, pressed for time to post, etc.

However, I'm a bit confused about what "all characters assembled" looks like for Red Shirt, Tracy, and the captive. What will they do with the captive in that 10-15 minutes?

Escort him as they move to join the others, unless Tracy or RS wants to let him go (RS doesn’t). The Judge will narrate appropriately.

Jake's latest post in which he suggests that he stay with Earnest, outside the town (to set up a blocking position in case any hardcases attempt to flee the dust-up inside town) is intended as a suggestion, instead of being cast in stone.

If anyone feels strongly that he (and Widder-Maeker's considerable firepower) should accompany those who are going into town, please feel free to post to that effect, IC.

In a similar vein, the Judge is happy to have most of the player characters stay together based on the idea under consideration. It makes sense for Earnest to stay with the girls because of his current status. RS and Daniel could stay with him. The Judge can still give the professor an avenue for some interesting roleplaying while the others return to Springdale.

The Judge understands the pause during and the holiday season and hopes everyone has had good times with friends and family. Hoping further that we can get back to regular posting in the next couple of days.

I'm (OOC) fine with this option, and Jake (IC) would be, too. However, thus far the IC discussion seems to be in agreement with Jake staying with Earnest (Jake's IC suggestion). And that's fine, too.

I'd just as soon act on the course of action presented IC (i.e., Jake remaining with Earnest) rather than falling into the "paralysis by analysis" trap. :)

I based my IC post on our conversation here OOC. Since you have laid out reasons to both stay and go here, Jake, I figured asking Red Shirt might be a natural way to come to a final conclusion.

It's funny ... Red Shirt has a thing about Springdale. written into the original adventure ("Hidden Canyon") and the Judge has kept that in mind throughout. So, if everyone agrees with Tracy's approach to this, and tolerates the Paiute's preference not to go to Springdale, then Jake can accompany the others and RS will stay with the Professor.

As for Daniel, well, he also has a thing about Springdale, but it's a different thing ... and the Judge wishes to treat that with nuance.
