Got out of the Hospital Sun afternoon and have been working from home since because the doctor is having me soak/redress the wound every few hours! But they do want to try to save it so here's hoping!

I'm going to try to get back to posting regularly... it's just been a crazy week or so!

The Judge's comments about "Conviction" (Msg. #436 of the IC thread) are most revealing. And here I was, thinking that a conviction was how one ended up on a chain gang ["You shore 'nuff in a heap ah trouble now, boy" (spoken in the traditional "Southern sheriff" drawl)]. :)

I'll have to read up on it. Time is short at the moment, but I should be able to crack open the rule book later this evening.

On a much more serious note, I'm glad to hear that you are home now, Earnest. I surely do hope that the wound continues to improve, and that when all is said and done, full functionality and range of motion have been restored.

Had a hand dr visit yesterday... they're planning in-office surgery next Wed to move some skin to cover the wound (it's pretty much open right now). I have to change the dressing twice a day until then... still, that's better than having to soak it several times a day (which was keeping me home from work)!

After it heals from this coming surgery, they'll do another to either reattach the tendon or fuse the joint, depending on how things go.

Yes, we have a new player. Usually, the Judge alerts the current players when a new person is joining, but because of the current game circumstances it made more sense to introduce the new character without forewarning.

No, nothing Jake-specific about the tildes. You're certainly welcome to use them if you are so inclined.

I was just trying to come up with a different sort of punctuation (i.e., different from quotation marks) that would clearly delineate unspoken thoughts. Some GMs like for thoughts to be the same color as a PC's spoken words, and tildes make it easier to distinguish spoken and unspoken words. :)

Oh, for sure. It seems like two out of three of the D&D games that I join on this site crash and burn (usually due to DM abandonment) within six months of start-up (usually sooner).

I joined this game several chapters in*, myself. :)

If you have an interest in the Old West, you can't go wrong with the Judge. I know a fair bit of history myself, but in terms of Western history, the Judge beats me, hands down. :)

PS. *After looking back on the closed threads, it looks like it would have been Chapter 9, or thereabouts.

Well, one difference (alternate history-wise) that I can remember off the top of my head is that in our game, the French still control Mexico. IRL, they had pulled out by some time in the 1860's. So . . . although we have not bumped into them, in-game, we presumably have units of the French Foreign Legion (as well as French regulars, one would suppose) situated just across the border in Mexico.

Jake (IC) has a strongly-held delusion as to why the French are still holding onto Mexico, but I'll hold off and let Padre discover that, in-game.

Or, on second thought, maybe it isn't a delusion, and there really is a buried Templar treasure hoard somewhere hereabouts. :)
