There is no visible effect, but the head destrachor [d1] and two others [d5 and d4] extend their heads and open their mouths to emit the deafening hoots...and nothing happens.  The creatures turn toward one another with non-existent eyes as if to figure out what happened.  Then the three turn as one toward the larger group of adventurers and head their direction cautiously (bringing the sphere of silence with them.

As Kahmaul and Vertium begin their attacks, the ranger delivers a shot into the nearest destrachan [d6 4dmg].

Dathnaea slowly starts backward behind the armored members of the group.  She fires off a shot from her bow, but misses.

One of the destrachan moving toward the larger group cranes its neck forward and attempts to scream, but again, nothing comes out as it is still too close to the silenced destrachan.  Wary of what is happening, it splits off from the other two and starts to flank the main group.

   Realizing the necessity of keeping them together, Aethen focuses and releases the call to the plants at the feet of their foes.  Feeling the power slip from his mind, he watches the forest floor react.

   "A wise choice, cleric!"  Aethen says after he sees the confusion sown by the silence.

Aethen casts Entangle toward D1, D3, and D5.

"I think I'd have to agree!" The Invar was alarmed to see their friendly impasse be cut short. Taking out his bow and firing a quick two shots at the nearest creature. The first scores home, but the second misses by a hair's breadth, and Flynn inwardly curses as it does. This was not the first he had seen of this creature. He looked forward to dealing with them quickly and glad to see Avril was not one to be fooled twice.

Tyler moves to the back of the group away from the destrachan.  He closes his eyes and kneels down as if meditating, murmuring under his breath.

Fylon ignores the three focused on his friends and heads off the closest to the other group.  He draws two thin blades and whirls them in a display of prowess that is actually somewhat impressive.  Then, he swipes both at the destrachan, which hoots in pain.  The swords don't do all that much damage [d1 7dmg, 4dmg], but it is enough to draw the creature's attention.

The barefoot orc darts over to the destrachan moving right beyond Fylon with practiced concert.  A flying kick staggers the creature back [d1 6dmg].

Further away, the ogre reaches one of the destrachan and takes a swipe at one with his axe.  Air whistles with the swing, but he misses entirely, too slow to hit the nimble destrachan.

Another of the destrachan converges on the ogre and emits another ear shattering blast right at him.  The ogre holds up his shield to absorb the majority of the blast, but still staggers backward.  He seems otherwise unaffected, though.

"Watch the flank!"  Grondor hollers.  He approaches the destrachan engaged with Fylon.  His sword ignites in golden flame and he delivers a blow that cuts deep into the creature's hide. [d1 14dmg]

Attempting to hem in the destrachans, Adryn arcs around the back of Flynn to attack from its flank [d3].

Focusing more on positioning himself, Adryn ends up over-reaching his target... missing horribly.

21:18, Today: Adryn Longmane rolled 10 using 1d20+4. attack.

There is no sign of the goblin who disappeared into the trees.

The spells are flying wild and the combat is fierce.  The destrachan nearest the ogre [d6] emits another screech, this time subtly different, but again there is no effect. [Awesome Fort Save!]  The ogre does not even stagger this time.  The Invar wizardess releases a spell and a green bolt of energy lances out and strikes one of the destrachan attacking the ogre [d2 6dmg].

Try to knock the others closer to Flynn and Grondor

Arvil flings 2 magic missles at the fartherest destrachan. [d4 7dmg]

Genovia looses two more arrows at one of the destrachan attacking the ogre.  They both shatter against the creature's tough skin.

The silenced destrachan [d1] has realized its predicament with uncanny intelligence.  Instead of wasting another attack on the sonics, it swipes twice at the orc monk, the least armored of its aggressors.  One swipe hits hard [orc monk 9dmg], but the monk deftly sidesteps the second.

Taking its cue from the leader, the destrachan facing Kahmaul [d5]swipes twice with large claws at the Paladin.  The claws find a chink in the armor [Kahmaul 8dmg]

One of the destrachan [d4] near the ogre sees no effect by the sonics on the armoragon and takes to clawed attacks.  Nothing gets through the heavy armor.  The ogre doesn't even seem to feel the force of impact.

"Qara'chargol ouranios!" Vertium shouts.  Three pillars of light form right in front of him.  When the pillars fade, three giant fire beetles with magnificent colors crawl forward toward the nearest destrachan.

The ranger steps around the tree he'd been hiding behind and lets loose two arrows.  One sticks [d2 5dmg], but the other ricochets off the destrachan's hide.

Dathnaea draws a bead on the destrachan attempting to flank the group.  She releases and the heavy arrow leaps from her bow into the creatures shoulder literally staggering it [d3 9dmg!]  She hoots in surprise and joy at the solid hit.  "Yeah!"

Kahmaul does not hesitate as he feels the claws rake through his armor. Instead the Anthros holy warrior returns the blow for another, this time laying into the attack an even fiercer force.

   Seeing the battle had swung in their favor for the moment, Aethen concentrates and lets a tether of power slip away as he quietly whispers a prayer for aid.  In response, a wolverine coalesces in front of him.

   Aethen looks down to the creature.  "Go and aid the ogre.  Addiyr guide your path."  Giving a quick bow, he then accompanies the wolverine forward, falling behind as the wolverine charges and attacks.

Wolverine charges D2.  (-2 AC until next action)
16:42, Today: Aethen Ironroot rolled 8 using 1d20+4. Wolverine attack.
Aethen moves 30 ft. toward D2.

As Adryn contemplates his next move, an arrow whizzes by his ear and buries itself deep into the destrachan's shoulder. Taking advantage of what appears to temporarily staggered his opponent, Adryn begins muttering a prayer for aid.

The lone destrachan [d3] turns to face Adryn and blasts him with the sonic attack.  Adryn manages to dodge the full brunt of the attack, but the sound is painful enough [Adryn - 7dmg]

With eyes closed, Tyler suddenly hollars, "watch out!  They are leaving the ogre and headed for Fylon!"  He remains on his knees, eyes closed.

Fylon whirls his blades in a devastating combination of attacks.  The destrachan before him takes two major wounds [d1 - 6, 7dmg]  The ogre manages to clip one of the destrachan on him as it turns away.  The axe gouges a huge furrow in the creature's skin [d6 - 13dmg]  The monk manages a roundhouse kick against the destrachan Fylon hit, [d1 - 3dmg]
