Geoff frowned, "I'm inclined to agree with you, Monica, but I'm going to have to investigate the route to the fort in case there is a trap. Survivors are going to try to make it there, if the zombies are being controlled by some sort of intelligence then it's my job to try to help people."
He hated saying this when every fibre of his body screamed at him to run for the hills and escape this horror, but he was wearing a badge and drove a car with "To Protect and serve" on the door. He'd been a pretty poor escape for a policeman up until now so it was time to start.
"Why don't we strip the squad car of everything we can use and I'll check the route out," he suggested, "you can wait at the point where we can head to the mountains. I'll do what I have to do and get back to you. If I take too long, you can head off. I don't intend to engage the zombies but I'd like to see if I could find a way to warn people if there is a trap."
