Nothings funny, I just tend to laugh at awkward situations. And you are right Nephi, if anyone had the right to lay claim to me, it'd be you.

Re: OOC Thread

I don't think you want a demon possessed girlfriend, Nephi. Imagine you're having a romantic evening at a nice, quiet, restaurant when suddenly her head starts spinning around as she vomits torrents of green shit all over the place. I mean sure the sex would be interesting, but there's more to life man.

Of course there's more to life than sex.  And I'm a good boy who won't have any until the honeymoon night.  Like I said though, a quick Healing would fix any pesky possessions real fast.

Don't be diluted, there's noting "good" about depriving one's self of the primary function and reward of life.  And you certainly don't do anyone any favors, in terms of promoting longevity of a relationship, if you don't assess your physical compatibility with a partner before attempting to dedicate a lifetime, the only one you'll ever get, to someone.

Re: OOC Thread

My .02$, in the past ten years the average marriage has become a joke, lasting often less than three years fourty years prior with most marriages at least breaking ten to twenty years. What's difference? Besides our expectations? The open acceptance of pre-marital sex, and more importantly, the acceptance of divorce. Ironically the happiest couples I've ever seen are mormon, a people so uptight they make the pilgrims look like hedonists. I joke, but still, sex is by no means an ensurance to a long relationship.

Acting like an adult and working through your issues together is.

Re: OOC Thread

Hey now, I don't like where this is heading! You guys have turned our silly skit about hacking possessed people apart into a serious discussion on relationship compatibility, and I won't have it. We need to get back to the goofiness and stop infecting it with serious talk before this somehow transforms into something truly dark and evil...... like a political discussion! *shudders in fear*

Re: OOC Thread

Please, don't get me started on gay 'marriage'.

As for pre-marital sex, I believe it shows a profound lack of respect for yourself, whoever you're having sex with, and for whoever you do try to dedicate your life to.  Not to mention if everyone only ever had one sexual partner, all these STDs wouldn't be a problem.

Re: OOC Thread

I've nothing against it personally, but I know most don't like the term Marriage being combined with the word Gay or Homosexual, even though marriage itself is a joke with no punch line. Unless of course you're a comedian like Ron White.

As for pre-marital sex, since marriage itself is a joke, pre-marital sex is the precursor. Most couples wind up having sex, getting pregant, and either A) forcing the man to pay child support, or B) gettig hitched, namely so the guy doesn't have to pay child support.

A shame we can't go back to the good ol days, back before marriage or religion for that matter. *sigh* But the first thing we did as a species, besides banding together for self defense, was create religion to explain the world around us. Real shame that even after we began understanding science we still kept religion.

As the great Bill Murray said in the documentary Religulous, "For humanity to survive, religion must die."

Re: OOC Thread

Good news everyone. And by good, I mean bad.

I seem to have become essentially unable to write anything. Well, not literally unable to write (of course), but even this post took significantly more time and effort than its contents warrant.

This seems to apply to the entirety of my creative activity: whether it's writer's block, burnout, or something else entirely, I honestly can't say.

It's not that I don't have any ideas, I do, I just seem unable to expand them properly.

It gets worse: I've taken a full week of vacation from everything, be it work or hobby, in the hopes of recharging the batteries. No such luck: I STILL don't seem to have recovered enough brain power to come up with more than one post, and an OOC one at that.

(Speaking of OOC posts, it was actually quite nice to come back and find a whole page of good ones. I wish I could contribute something better.)

I'm sorry folks, I just can't seem to write the way I used to.

I will try to see if I can come up with a solution of sorts. As a matter of fact, I do see some possibilities, so let's not despair just yet.

On a somewhat related note, the main thread is suffering from the lack of a reliable tactical map - one that would show vehicles, players and zombies, with an appropriate scale. The difficulty of clarifying the tactical situation compounds the problem, since it makes it twice as hard to come up with a working post.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to introduce miniatures into a PBF?

Re: OOC Thread

Well if you really want to contribute to our occ madness you could answer a rules question: could Nephi just Heal a possession by demons away? Personally I think he shouldn't, it's to easy an answer and kind of a Deus Ex Machina. You know instead of the characters having to think things through and come up with an answer to their problem, within the logic of the story, something magical happens that instantly solves their problems for them. Ever sense that Greek play lowered the God of the Crane on to the stage and coined the term people have been criticizing it as lazy writing, and in this case it would rob John and I a chance to bond over the tag team axe murder of Karen!

Re: OOC Thread

Unless of course Karen wants to repopulate the Earth first, then the axing will have to wait.  Meanwhile, on the subject of the map, use google maps or google earth to find the exact spot you have them at, zoom in, get a good sized picture of the area, then, if you can, orientate the map to an even axis so you can lay a simple grid over it set to scale.  Then, plop the player's character avatars into their squares.  You can highlight the edge of the square that they're facing towards even, for extra info.

Re: OOC Thread

Well, I think of Healing like channeling pure positive healing energy into the afflicted person, and demons can't stand positive energy.  Whether or not a Healing exorcism would be successful would depend on how entrenched the demon is and how much Essence (faith) I could bring to bear.  Remember back in the first scene when someone (Geoff I think) got wounded and I Healed both him and his infection?  That probably wouldn't work on the average zombie, since they've been infected too fully.  As close knit as the group is, we should be able to recognise a possession before it becomes too strong.

Re: OOC Thread

By RAW, exorcising a demon requires its own Miracle. Please forgive the formatting and the missing references, this is an extract from Witchcraft as AFMBE does not normally include demonic possession:

Exorcism
5 Essence per Test

This is the power to banish spirit entities and demons from both places and people. Exorcisms often take a long time, and are risky undertakings. To conduct an Exorcism, the Inspired must stand next to the possessed person, or nearby/inside the place. A series of Simple Willpower Tests follow. The first Test costs five Essence Points and forces the possessing creature to reveal its identity. Some are Fiends (see p. 300), while others are hostile spirits of the dead. Sometimes, they are creatures so strange and alien that they defy explanation. The next several Willpower Tests encompass an effort to push the offending being out of its current dwelling. The Inspired has to accumulate a total of 10 Success Levels to remove the entity. Since one Test is unlikely to accumulate that many successes, the Inspired must keep making them until the necessary number of Success Levels is accumulated. Each Test costs an additional five Essence Points and takes D10(5) minutes of preparation. In the meantime, the possessing spirit is rarely a passive spectator. Most of the time, the Exorcism process protects the Inspired from direct attack; the creature must pass a Difficult Willpower Test (at a -4 penalty) to attack the Inspired once the Exorcism has begun. However, the creature may try to intimidate, cajole, or seduce the character away from her labors. Fiends and ghosts are the best at these tactics. Their abilities allow them to see into the Inspireds mind and soul, and they can bring painful or shameful aspects of the characters personality to light. Insults and threats are often made. The Inspired may need to pass Willpower Tests to see if she can continue the Exorcism without losing her temper or composure. If the Exorcism is successful, the being is removed from the body. If it lingers and the Inspired can see it, she can attack it with other Miracles or drive it away through the use of Prayer and holy symbols (see p. 243). Most of the time, however, the entity flees to the Otherworlds where it was spawned bearing a deadly grudge against the human (and any of those like him) who thwarted it.

You two are hopeless.  Attacking and accusing her before making sure there's even an infection or possession to worry about.  Makes me think you're more likely to be infected.  *Draws rapier and starts moving towards John*  Back away from Karen, now.

Just out of curiousity, who's seen X-Men: First Class?  Who thinks Mystique looked more natural and cuter as a kid?  And who else noticed several characters who should have been too young (or not yet born) to be active in the mid 60s?
