So would Nephi and Karen be hearing any of this or not?

Re: OOC Thread

That would depend on whether or not the radio that Allan gave Nephi can tune into the right frequency.

Re: OOC Thread

Mmm... Right, I better retcon that.

We have a grand total of two walkie-talkies and one fixed radio on the RV, so it makes the most sense to give one each.

Re: OOC Thread

It's a question of what kind of radios you're talking about. I assumed the pair of radios Allan had were two-way radios that he and his wife used when hiking. They don't broadcast on the same frequency as CB's but, they could communicate with other two-way radios that are tuned to the same channel. If you want them to be able to communicate with a CB in the unicat, then they should be handheld CB radios. Those cost a bit more, but also have more range. Or, we could've picked up another pair of two-way radios from one of the stores we hit for supplies.

Re: OOC Thread

Now that's an interesting point. I had originally thought they would be 27 MHz (CB) walkie-talkies (which, incidentally, seem to come in any range from 28$ to 280$: I would expect them to have had the same price range 10 years ago), since they would be compatible with a mobile station installed on the motorhome.

The biggest advantage of mounting one on the unicat would be the longer range granted by a mounted antenna, which is useful in urban environments where buildings may interfere. A mounted station could theoretically communicate over very long distances. I think Xynthia would have suggested that...

Re: OOC Thread

Hope everyone had a good Christmas.  I did.  My older brother decided it was time to pass on another anime to me that we had both enjoyed and I'd been wanting to watch again recently, and my girlfriend gave me several DVDs I rather liked.  Really difficult getting away from the family for a little making out though.  Bunch of nosy people, that I don't see much of.

Re: OOC Thread

Merry $Christmas everyone. As usual, under the tree you find a package from yours truly; this year the $Christmas gift is as follows:

1 Skill Point
2 Drama Points
5 XP

If you want to buy a level in a Special Skill (which would cost 2 CP), you may convert one DP to a CP.

Re: OOC Thread

Some more lemonade coming up for you guys... I won't go into the details of the lemon it came from, enjoy the extra sugar.

Those who have extra CP to spend, please come up with something before the start of the next session, which is going to be relatively soon.

I am going to wrap this session up with the arrival at Fort Monroe, sometime in January, so you have a few weeks to plan.

Happy 2011 everyone!

P.S.: Please check that your character sheets are correctly updated and I didn't miss anything...

Once again, free lemonade for everyone. To clarify, Geoff heard the "ominous portent" from his police radio as well as the CB handset, everyone else from the CB only.

I'll remind everyone that, since you re in different vehicles, you will either need to stop the convoy or to talk through the radio.

Radio communication seems once again to be restricted to a few hundred yards, if that.

Re: OOC Thread

We split the group, and we unsplit the group. Geoff and the Reverend leave, Hector and Eddie rejoin.

I shall soon(ish) be opening a thread for the next step, but when I do I will close the session and assign XP - I will consider both threads for purposes of computing the total number of posts.

At that point, any unspent CP's will be lost. If you have something you would like to buy, you should really do it now.

Any skills you can think of can be used by your characters, from woodcarving to blacksmithing to afro-cuban dance to stage magic. Don't be shy!

So should I just go ahead and start posting in "You Can't Run and You Can't Hide", or do I wait for the others to respond to the car?

Re: OOC Thread

Yes, Hector, please go ahead and post: once everyone has said their hellos to Hector and Eddie (and vice versa), and I have your choices for the use of the remaining CP's, I am going to distribute the rewards for this session and open two new threads.

When I distribute the new rewards, your remaining unassigned CP's will become unavailable.

Finally, when I open the new threads, be ready to roll a bucket of dice...

Hector's post seems like an excellent place to close this thread. Anyone who hasn't told me yet how they would like to spend their CPs should do so ASAP.

Re: OOC Thread

I just noticed something weird.  The game I play in where my character is most like me (this one) is also the longest running and has the most posts.  Every other game, where I've tried to play something different, has died, and only one or two made it past 500 posts.

So what you're trying to say is that you're Morman? And that you should be who you are even in game?

Well, yes I am.  As for being who I am even in game, not really.  I just thought it a weird co-incidence that the more I tried playing something different, the shorter the game was :D

Re: OOC Thread

Well, "write what you know" is a good rule for authors, so it's probably not an entirely bad idea for roleplayers either...

Personally, when I play a character I am not in sync with, my posts become shorter and less enjoyable; that's true even when it's an NPC, so I try to have at least one thing I can connect with. Games with characters I feel a strong connection with tend to last longer than ones where I don't, so I think there's definitely something there...

Speaking of characters, does anyone else have CP's to spend? Please check your character sheets, I am probably going to open the new threads before the end of the week.
