Re: OOC Thread

Very well then... Let's try this again.

Once more with feeling :P

If I'm not mistaken, I have three players in as many threads.

Most unfortunate.

Any suggestions on how to turn this particular lemon into yet another tasty lemonade?

Re: OOC Thread

Weigh the other hand.  If one thread goes slow or dormant.. no one's left waiting..  There is certainly a benefit to that.

Re: OOC Thread

True... The unfortunate side effect is that it takes three times as much GMing, which, as you are well aware, is something of a scarce resource.

How shall we fix that particular problem, seeing how consolidation seems difficult, to say the least?

Re: OOC Thread

Prioritize plotlines, activities, potential plotlines, etc.  What you want to do the most, is what you have to promote the most, and that entails getting everyone inline one way or another.

Re: OOC Thread

I just read a very helpful message that significantly improved the chances of actually getting the game off the ground again.

In a short while, messages will be posted to the relevant threads summarizing the events that complete the ongoing scenes: those characters who no longer have a player will be removed in an appropriate way, and I shall try to set a common timeline for all players, so as to consolidate all groups.

Re: OOC Thread

So very good to see you again guys. I really hope this time I'll manage to keep the game flowing at a decent pace.

Now, I figure the guys at the fort have high chances of passing the zombie survival test due to high CON levels and, under normal circumstances, if you pass the first Test, you are immune to further zombification until you die.

So I need something to make their circumstances not-normal..

That's why the fort shall be overrun by a huge swarm of stinging insects with modified venom. No, not zom-bees :P Yellow jackets (vespula squamosa): a full colony of them.

Now, the size of a colony can range from 3,000 to 100,000 individuals depending on latitude.

Just so you know, I'm giving these things plenty of latitude :P

John, how long does it take to unhook the boathouse from water and sewage? Just to know how much advance warning I have to give you if I want you guys to survive...

Re: OOC Thread

He was already planning on a fishing trip that day, the boat would be ready to pull out and depart and be fully disembarked into the channel within about 2 minutes.  It doesn't exactly have weak engines...  I had an idea for a bit of a secret given particular skills, capacity, and availability.  I was going to have old chinook jet turbine engines powering the boat :P

Additionally, people John are the surly non-fuck-giving type who'd probably usually get off the boat, go up to the restaurant on the dock's overlook, and use their facilities.

Can I get a refresher on the timeline? How much time has passed since the outbreak began? Has John's timeline synced up with ours? I can't recall how long we stayed at the doctor's place.

Re: OOC Thread

We are currently on day 2, afternoon, for Allan's group, and day 2, morning, for John's group. So, almost there.

On a related note, I need to remove Hector and Eddie from what used to be the main group (the one with the most players): at that point the only PC left in it will be Nephi, and then that group will join the others at the fort. Will do so as soon as the situation with the other two groups is a bit more defined.

Now, it's a little early for time to go out of whack, that effect should start happening around day 4 or 5, but if we really need it it can be made to happen.

As for what is going to happen with the laws of physics...

Well, this isn't a situation where 2+2=5. This is a situation where 2+2=pinecones ice cream with tire sauce - and sediment-shaped sediment on the side.

Where there are people, you will get some semblance of order, with the Divinely Inspired bringing more order than most, having a direct link with Creation.

Throw the main group off the bridge into the waters, we can pick them up on our way back in :P  Time crunching a fishing trip is kinda child's play unless Pam wants to do some interactions first :)

Re: OOC Thread

Well, in Italy you can legally drink at 16, so giving a beer to a 15-year-old won't net you the death penalty... I was under the impression that the USofA were not as liberal when it comes to drinking age, though. :P

A single beer, in international waters, under the supervision of FOUR officers, lol, she'll be ok ;)

Yeah, but I think her daddy would be pissed. Not to mention that providing alcohol to a minor would likely get those officers in trouble with their superiors. Four soldiers with a lot of beer plus one underage girl is the stuff of career-ending scandals.

Re: OOC Thread

Hypotheticals rarely reflect reality, nor is any of this any concern to the campaign or it's bearing.  The scant few superior officers there are to John's rank, are dead'ish for the most part as far as I'm aware.  Then there's the whole international waters thing :P

Re: OOC Thread

So we have a boathouse in the middle of the ocean (apparently) with three guys and two girls on board, and beer is being passed around, starting with the jail bait. And then the engine mysteriously stops working.

Let's move on...

Pam isn't expected at home, really: her father has unreliable schedules so she can sleep at friends' as long as she says where she is, which she did, so she can go back whenever. School isn't an issue, either: she has perfect grades in everything, and she's even good at sports, so she can pretty much do whatever she wants. On occasion, she even skips school for more interesting pursuits, so nobody will panic if she doesn't show up until the following afternoon.

Now, that behavior is probably unwise in most places on planet Earth, but, while I don't have any statistics, I would wager that the crime rate around Fort Monroe is significantly lower than the national average.

I mean, there are plenty of stupid criminals, but choosing to attack people next to a place where they *train the young and able on how to kill bad guys* seems like a quick way to reduce that number...

At any rate I am ruling, in my capacity as a GM, that that is what happened, and all the criminals have been Darwinated before the zombie plague even started. All for Pam's benefit :P

BTW... International waters laws don't work that way.

Here, straight from the Straight Dope.
