Coppernight Hold (Igatho and Holy)

After the meeting, Holy had left with Kitau and Grimly to search for the crystal. Igatho had shown at the meeting also, but was completely covered up in a tarp of sorts. On the way out of town, Holy buys a gallon of ice cream. When the four were out of town, Holy lifted the tarp and gave Igatho ice cream as promised. "Good girl! You managed to fool everyone at the meeting! Who's a sneaky baby? You're a sneaky baby!"

Igatho giggles and lets out that squeal babies tend to make when happy, then licks at the ice-cream.

Re: Coppernight Hold (Igatho and Holy)

Holy answers, "You heard the princess; none of us really have a choice - it is do or die. But if the world were safe, Igatho here is safer fighting at our side than ganged up on by a whole city of angry mob out to kill her because she was too rough with someone. In other words: It's either leave her alone to die, try to raise her in a city to die, leave her with her own kind who will raise her to kill innocent people, or take her in and raise her ourselves while we continue to try rescuing others. I did the research and even tested how she would do in isolation... she needs violence like you and I need eyes - Sure you can live without them, but it would be real hard to find direction."

With one hand, he is holding Igatho's hand, but with the other hand, he pets Kitau's hair.

Igatho smiles brightly at Holy and Kitau. She is OH so happy to make them proud.

"A better answer than most could hope for, I suppose."  Grimly just maybe has some issues with parents deciding life choices that involved life and death for you.

Holy and Kitau probably do not have 'we had to see if it worked before we did it ourselves' as part of their reasoning, though.

"Quite unfortunate for whoever is in our way.

Atop a low rise is an excavation site, partially protected by a high wooden fence. Rubble lies strewn about the area.

Igatho whispers, "I hear people..."

Holy glances to the other two and whispers, "Sounds like they're around Kit and I's size." he looks at Grimly. "Fell like scouting it out?"

When Holy and Grimly are in position, Kitau and Igatho approach. Their innocent approach is immediately met with attacks! No questions, just attacking. Two charge the giant and one charges Kitau. A slinger throws one of his pots! And out of all those attacks... only one manages to do any harm, piercing Igatho's skin and making her squeal.

From the other side of the area, Grimly swiftly (but not running, KEYWORDS!) approaches the largest batch of kobolds, coming to a stop as he sweeps his sickle in an arc in front of him.

Of the four Kobolds directly in front of the Monk, three of them collapse to the ground gurgling with slit throats as the last ducks away.  An entirely unrelated kobold is feeling their neck nervously, "Sometimes it takes a moment."

The remaining slingers both throw pots at Grimly out of panic. One pot hits him in the kidney for some pain, but really it's the stink that hurts worse. Rancid water.

Re: Coppernight Hold (Igatho and Holy)

Holymoley walks up to the edge of the excavation. He holds his staff in his right hand and reaches out with his left hand. When he turns his hand to face palmside up, spikes shoot up from the ground below the slingers! The slingers react fast, but two of them get scraped up!

Holymoley snaps his fingers a few times as if trying to get his magic to ignite or something. "Hmmm.." he says, mostly to himself.

Igatho PUNTS the nearby kobold and then uppercuts his midair self with her axe! The two halfs go falling to the ground and some blood rains down. Igatho then hurries down the stairs to the kobold who was "lucky" enough to dodge Holy's spikes.

The one minion to survive the initial onslaught rushes up behind Igatho to flank with his buddy and stabs at her, seeming to only scrape the outer layer of Igatho's skin. Or was that a layer of ice-frost on Iga's skin?

Re: Coppernight Hold (Igatho and Holy)

Holymoley waves his staff in Grimly's direction and Grimly's wounds close up and he feels good as new, albeit slightly more exhausted than when he woke up this morning.

Holy continues snapping his fingers. "Why won't it.. darn it. Sorry, Grimly! Sorry Igatho! Just hold on; I'll get the bad pot mojo off of you soon..."

Still on fire, Igatho growls and her eyes start to glow slightly. "BAD KOBOLDS!" She swings downward, execution style and the kobold meeps, managing to dodge aside! The axe causes a crack in the ground, but Igatho easily pulls it free.

Igatho then moves over to put herself between Kitau and the other slingers.

Then another slinger tosses a gluepot at Igatho, hitting her hard enough to actually get past her raging toughness. Igatho is crying like a tantrum toddler.

Re: Coppernight Hold (Igatho and Holy)

Holymoley snaps his fingers and the slinger next to Grimly spontaneously combusts in white flame, collapsing! "There we go." and the flames on Igatho die.

Igatho turns, still furious as frost clouds just spill off the giant and her eyes are glowing pure white. She screams "NOOOOO!!! DIIIIE!!!" and her axe starts getting covered in a thin layer of ice as it spills over from covering Igatho's skin. The baby demonstrates she can reach the kobold from where she is, despite being 10 feet away.

Igatho hacks the kobold who was GOING to run. Her swing goes upward, chopping the kobold in half vertically while knocking the kobold up before Igatho spins violently and BATS the two halves with her axe, chopping them into smaller pieces while sending the pieces everywhere! It literally rains body parts.

Half of the kobold's head lands at Kitau's feat, encased in ice. The other half of his head lands at Holy's feet, also encased in ice. His left arm lands in front of Grimly, the kobold arm blackened from frostbite. A gift for her family and friend!

You thought we were done describing this wonderful scene? The kobold's intestine lands on the fence, appearing as an icy wreath for decoration! Honestly, for all the parts flying everywhere, that's as much as can be kept track of during combat...

Grimly pulls back his left hand, and throws a punch from where he is.  This is somewhat more notable than usual because at the average stopping point his bones just keep going, the kobold's face ripped clean off before Grimly's bones snap back into place like nothing ever happened.

Which is what the monk acts like is the case, totally nothing out of the ordinary. really.

Igatho hears her mom's voice. She looks around, teeth gritted, and sees no threats. Her breathing begins slowing as Kitau kisses the baby, Igatho's wounds healing. The ice dies down a bit, slowly vanishing from the axe and Igatho's skin. "...no kobolds?" she asks, looking curious. Then flops to her butt and hugs Kitau. "Yay! Kobolds dead!"

Holy hops down from where he's at and says, "Thanks, Kitau. Though all I did was snap my fingers... Good job, everyone!" he waves a hand at Grimly's direction and the stink goes away. "Is everyone alright?"

Re: Coppernight Hold (Igatho and Holy)

Kitau's affections have thoroughly brought Igatho back from insanity to sane and really happy. She squeals happily and munches on a kobold. "Crunchy!"

Shaft: A large hole drops 20 feet to the top of a staircase leading to room 2. A sturdy rope ladder hangs from the southern lip. All Grimly sees below is a dirt floor.

Holy says, "We can rest now, so I advise we do so." he then heads over to Igatho and switches from cold logician mode to endearing daddy mode. "Rawr! Daddy TACKLE!" and leaps onto Igatho's belly. The giant plays along, flopping on her back and giggling while he raspberries her belly.

After some resting, Holy elects Grimly go scout things, "But we'll be RIGHT behind you. Meaning Kit and I should descend first and let you know if it is safe. If it isn't, Igatho can pull us up quickly. If it is, you and Igatho can come down."

Igatho calms down, sniffles, and says, "...all done?"

Holy says, "Not yet. I'm positive a crystal is here, based on the reports. Let's see..."

He peeks around the corner. "Yup. There's another room."

Re: Coppernight Hold (Igatho and Holy)

Holy just chuckles from Igatho's proclamation and giggles from Kitau yaying along.

He follows Kit and Iga to the doors. "Well I guess we open the door and be ready for attack?"

The chamber is decorated with a dwarven motif: carvings, paintings, and tapestries depict scenes of dwarven triumph and domesticity. Many of these once-fine works have been vandalized. At the south end of the room, a set of iron doors blocks further passage into the keep.

Several kobolds wielding short swords mill about. Set back into an alcove and resting on a raised stone is a large chair carved from oak—not quite a throne, but not far off either. Curled atop the chair on a pile of coins is a white dragon. She hisses commands to the kobolds. You can't see this yet, but you do hear the sounds of draconic being spoken from around the corner.

Another kobold positions himself, looking ready to attack, but does not go into melee yet.

Grimly manages to evade the attacks from minions, but fancy movement doesn't prevent the closest slyblade from hitting him (weakly) anyways.  The monk's bipolar dice in turn, make him-
A: noddle armed strike the slyblade.
B: miss literally half of his targets.
C: Proceed to bring the Slyblade to near death, with an additional case of more blood on the floor than inside his tiny kobold body.

OOC: two minions dead. Closest slyblade (A? B?) down to 16 HP, with 6 Ongoing DMG.

Re: Coppernight Hold (Igatho and Holy)

The slyblade Grimly missed hops around Kitau to flank her, but misses horribly.

Another kobold charges Kitau and nearly trips over himself, missing so bad he almost hurt himself!

The kobolds are hissing loudly in draconic. Too bad nobody in the team understands them.... does that make them emo?

Holy does the palm-up thing again and spikes shoot up from under the slyblades (who dodge it) and the minion near Grimly (who doesn't). The one kobold collapses dead.

Holy looks at his hand with an unimpressed frown.

Igatho heads over to flank one of the slyblades with Kitau. "Momma!" she says as if to say "look what I can do", but Murphy laughs and causes her to miss as horribly as the kobolds have been.

Three kobolds charge Igatho, all of them missing. Then the dragon comes up and shoots frost at the group. Once again, Igatho seems uneffected, but she kills one of her minions, downs Holy, and almost downs Kit and Grimly.

The slyblade stabs at Kitau and misses.

Re: Coppernight Hold (Igatho and Holy)

The slyblade tries to hit Kitau and gets an arm sliced off for it. "NO!" Igatho yells angrily!

Holy stands up. "...ow." and says, "Alright. That's enough." and steps forward, bursting with holy energy! All his allies' wounds close up (Grimly's wounds START to close) and the dragon and slyblade look weak-kneed!

Holy then says, "Thanks, Kitau! Now you heal up!" and all her wounds vanish. Then Holy snaps his fingers and two of the three remaining minions spontaneously combust, collapsing!

Kitau calls out for Igatho to "grab daddy!"

Igatho cleaves the slyblade's head off, then does as mommy asked. Then charges the dragon! "BAD DWAGGY!" and hacks deeply into the dragon! The dragon shrieks in pain!

The kobold swings and the dragon claws at Igatho and both do so in vain, hitting air as they find it hard to reach the baby's legs from their standpoint.

The dragon moves to try and run for it, but Igatho smashes the dragon again! Bone crunching can be heard.

The dragon is unable to flee, so it tries a last-ditch spite move! It does that nasty breathe again! But coughs and sputters. It claws at Igatho violently and only manages a little scratch.

Holy Moley glances while heading to the back caged area and says, "Good girl, Igatho. Good job, Kitau, Grimly. I'm gonna check back here for the crystal. One of you check the throne?"

With that, Holy finds the lever and opens the bars to reveal some captured dwarves. No sign of crystal back there.

But with a cursory search, anyone looking around the throne will find a crystal about the size of Holy's torso.

Holy Moley nods and says, "What she said. Let's see if we can get audience with the princess."

After some tarp-cover on Igatho again, the team manages to get audience with Adrie again. Holy then explains that he had hidden their fourth party member in the interest of not causing panic. "I didn't know there would be a gnoll and a kobold present at the meeting... or that people would somehow not panic over that. But here she is: Igatho."

And he unveils the baby giant. This affords a raised eyebrow from Adrie. Which soon morphs into a helpless smile. "Cute. Well... Let us see if touching the crystal will cause her to be chosen..."

Soon, Igatho touches Adrie's crystal and, like it did for the other three, it glows. "Looks like your child has been chosen. Know, then, that she has my protection whenever you teleport here."
