Chapter 2, Phase 3 Intermission - Nevermoor Aftermath

22nd Day of Ascending Water, RY 768
Late Evening

After taking a few hours to clean up, rest and care for their respective wounded, the Wavecrest Navy vessels and the Hirdu's Ambition converge to meet with the Spring Dryad II. Their highest ranking officers are welcomed aboard and led toward the Dryad's conference room, which has been tidied up in preparation for the evening's meeting.

Lasuri and his first mate, Jadira, sit at one end of the meeting table, playing host to their guests, who sit at either side of them. On their right are the surviving Wavecrest Navy captains, Captain Ganesh Irongall of the Shieldwarden and Captain Roche Fairwind of the Falchion. Captain Irongall is a brawny man with grey streaked black hair and a salt-and-pepper beard, while Captain Fairwind is younger and somewhat slighter, with short, dark purple hair cut to sweep across his tanned brow. Both are tattooed and bare-chested, as Wavecrest men often are, wearing decorated vests and ornate cloth bands slung diagonally across their chests to denote their ranks.

On their left sits the Captain of the Hirdu's Ambition, a squat, middle-aged man with dark hair and a greased mustache wearing a red and blue-trimmed coat over his heavily bandaged chest. Next to him is the young man Zeru mentioned earlier, who has requested to join him. The latter is of average height, with dark blue hair and an almost imperceptible silvery sheen to his skin that other Dragon-blooded would recognize as a characteristic of one of their own. [Private to Xander Lucian: that's you!]

The remaining seats are occupied by the other members of the Cobalt Alliance. Lasuri has of course encouraged every one of the Dragon-blooded officers to be present, as the discussion would very likely involve the last battle they participated in, as well as how they will proceed next.

OOC: I've opened this thread for those who are ready to move on. :) I'll leave the 'Isles of Nevermoor' open in the meantime. Also, let me know (PM) if there are any other mini threads you would like made.

Re: Chapter 2, Phase 3 Intermission - Nevermoor Aftermath

Kiana sits at the table, encouraged as she was by Lasuri and Jadira.  Her tore clothing had been repaired, but in favor of the meeting she had changed into her only formal outfit--a sleeveless red dress.  Save for the exposure of her arms, all other aspects of the dress were humble--there was a slit for easier movement, but it was hardly scandalous.  Those large White-Jade boots could be glimpsed through the slit when she walked to the table, and were easily visible if one simply looked at her feet.  The sister smashfist were nowhere to be seen, however.

Her black hair was pulled up, held together by two slender chop-sticks.  By all accounts she simply looked like a timid little teenager, certainly out of place among the burly and experienced men who made up most of the Alliance.  She sat up straight in her chair without nary a slouch, and once could easily imagine her at a much fancier to-do.  Her eyes glanced between Jadira and Lasuri, and occasionally to the others that table as she waited.

Re: Chapter 2, Phase 3 Intermission - Nevermoor Aftermath

Zeru sits at the table his trademark hat stop his head. He is currently leaning back, his hands laced behind his head. His eyes drift from Captain Hirdu, to the young man, across to the Navymen, and then across to Captain Lasuri, and Miss Thornbloom. To his right was a woman in a red-dress that he hadn't been introduced to yet, but he recognized from the sick bay, and the dour individual he met previously was at his left.

Here he was again, Zeru hated meetings, and yet every time there was one he wound up coming. He couldn't quite explain it, but he felt as if he should, even though his discomfort told him otherwise. He reached into his pocket and put Lucky Coral on the table. She liked meetings much more, and he didn't mind the company. He pets her head quietly, and waits for the meeting to begin.

OOC: To those who don't know, Lucky Coral is a lithe white cat with aqua spots.

Re: Chapter 2, Phase 3 Intermission - Nevermoor Aftermath

Despite his initial contact with Zuru, Kareth had discovered one thing in common with the man: neither of them particularly wanted to be here.  That much was evident from the looks on both their faces  However, Kareth felt that this captain and the young man Zeru mentioned earlier might either have... useful... information.  And so here he sat next to the captain of the Marlena as he played with his cat.  Kareth appeared to glare at the cute animal when it was first produced.  It wasn't as though the engineer particularly had any antipathy for the creature, glaring was just a force of habit for him.

He had managed to change his clothes before he came to meeting, however they looked much the same as his old ones: black trousers, a white shirt, and his black cloak.  His essence cannon hung at his belt and his short sword was by his cloak.  He had not had the opportunity to polish his breastplate as much as he would have liked, but it was clean enough even though it did not shine brightly in light.

When he entered the room just behind Zeru, he noted Kiana there too.  He had at least been around her enough to know her name, and he figured that Zeru had not yet been introduced to her.  Kareth took no action to rectify that situation.

Re: Chapter 2, Phase 3 Intermission - Nevermoor Aftermath

Captain Irongall in particular seems to be somewhat agitated with the wait. He grouses in his chair, coughs and clears his throat now and then, looking at Lasuri expectantly as if he might burst out into speech any moment.

His younger associate has a more curious, if guarded expression, scrutinizing every face at the table. Particularly the women, who are only exempt from the 'no women at sea' custom by way of their Dragon-blooded power. Captain Fairwind cannot be any older than Lasuri himself, and takes an interest in what he considers a fledgling organization -- one that, whether his elder might want to admit it or not, has saved the ill-prepared Wavecrest forces from an almost certain defeat.

Hirdu appears less agitated than simply excited. Now and then the mustachioed man starts tapping the table or jiggling his foot, earning glares across the table from Irongall.

"Perhaps you'll tell us--" Irongall finally opens his mouth...
"So should we get sta--" ...at the same time Captain Hirdu does.

The two men glare at one another and start again: "Captain Leomaris--" they burst out simultaneously; the salt-and-pepper bearded man's scowl deepens, while Hirdu coughs and ducks his head a little sheepishly, grooming nervously at his mustache.

Re: Chapter 2, Phase 3 Intermission - Nevermoor Aftermath

Zeru starts laughing heartily at the situation that the two prim and proper officials found themselves in. The more they tried to be serious, the less serious they seemed.

"Mau!"

At this simple piercing call, Zeru started laughing harder.

"I'm sorry I'm sorry, I'm stopping" He sighs, and stops laughing. "I apologize, but you have to admit that was funny..." He says seriously motioning towards the cat as if everyone should be able to understand it.

Re: Chapter 2, Phase 3 Intermission - Nevermoor Aftermath

Jadira looks comfortable in her seat, wearing her dark green coat with the contrasting floral pattern over a clean tunic and dark breeches. She has gathered her brown curls into a ponytail to keep the strands out of her face. First mate she might be, but her attitude is much less rigidly official than the Navy folk. The Cobalt Alliance is an organization, but it certainly isn't military.

She does not immediately address any of the guests, though Lasuri can very distinctly feel her body tensing up as she tries not to laugh out loud -- like Zeru just did! Uh-oh! Trying to keep her mind off the sudden attack of mirth, she looks across the table at Kiana and smiles widely, and nods to the other Cobalt members who have seated themselves.

And who's that new one with Hirdu, I wonder...?
