At the edge of the clearing

Eldor, you hear a brustling noise from the woods to your back.  With your elfin ears and years of experience you can tell it is still at least a hundred yards away but coming gradually in your direction.  It appears to be something big.

Re: At the edge of the clearing

Brejgun was growing weary. The day had been long and hard, and he longed to get out of the cold and into a warm place once again. He still saw no sign of pursuit, but he still remained uneasy. The reality of the events of the last days were all to clear now, the vulnerability of solitude and disconnectedness.

Also, he was beginnig to feel that all was not right with these woods, that the trees acted funny, but that still took a back seat to the more pressing concerns about finding somewhere he could hole up.

And was that suddenly becoming a possibility? The woods seemed to open up into a clearing where stood a hut - could he be that lucky? Finally some favour from the gods?

Re: At the edge of the clearing

Eldor quietly put down his axe and picked up his bow. Moving into the shadows of the trees just behind his position he notched an arrow and waited the arrival of his mysterious guest.

Re: At the edge of the clearing

[Private to Eldor Leaf-fall: You catch sight of a big human, rather bedraggled, pushing his way through the woods to the clearing.  He does not see you.   He hits the clearing a few yards from your position and you manage to line your bow up nicely with his neck.]

Brejgun bursts into the clearing, looking about himself warily.   The gloaming light shines in his eyes a little as the sun has sunk to kiss the treetops.

Re: At the edge of the clearing

[Private to GM: Eldor will keep his bow aimed at the new arrival and watch to see what he will do. If he move off in the direction of the old woman's hut he will then step out and confront the stranger.]

Re: At the edge of the clearing

[Private to Eldor Leaf-fall: Eldor please post your actions now]

As you step towards the hut you begin to hear voices in the distance.   They appear to be coming from some way beyond the hut, which blocks your view.

Re: At the edge of the clearing

" Stop where you are kind sir and do not turn round." Eldor said as he stepped out of the shadows of the trees behind the new comer.

"If you do not wish to have an arrow between your shoulders I suggest you state your business quickly and be gone. My mother hates visitors that turn up unannounced." Eldor moves a little further out into the clearing to get a better line on the stranger.

" And please keep your hands where they can easily be seen. I'm very good with my bow and I don't tend to miss." he added in a calm and matter of fact voice.

Re: At the edge of the clearing

[ooc: you were all brought up in some corner of Thuland so you all speak Visic pretty fluently.   The bowman's southern accent may sound strange to Brejgun's ears but added to the physical gestures I think he would get the message!]

Re: At the edge of the clearing

Brejgun is just about to veer to get a look at the people he can hear when the voice comes from behind. He freezes just an instant, then slowly brings up his hands to hold them chest high and a bit out to each side.

"Easy there, friend.", he says as he slowly turns. "Your mother need not be conc ...".

Brejgun stops talking as he lays eyes on the person behind him.

An Elf! What Devilry is this!?

The thought flashes through Brejgun's mind and his eyes dart worriedly about the trees in front of him.

Out of the frying pan and into the fire! Just my luck of late!

Brejgun takes a slow step back ...

Re: At the edge of the clearing

Eldor notices the look, he's seen it hundreds of times before, humans they're all the same.

" Firstly I'm not your friend as I don't know you, secondly you are on my mother's land thus you wish to speak with her."

He levels his bow with the man's chest " and thirdly you are creeping round like a murderer not a visitor. State your intent or I add you to the fertilizer I intend to spread on our vegetable patch later today."
