Re: THE WALK THE PLANK

With another  swallow of  ale, ( and following refill),..Ahhh , see there Lad... That's were some of the bloody Rub came, when Kree...more or less..took over. The Arrows then? were just like any other Mercs... you got your contract... got your share, the rest went into  the coffers...but we weren't allowed no bad folk's contracts..and if  we found they were bad..while, we just ended the contract..kept  what we  found..and 'visited ' them.

..now?..lotsa  Merc groups don't like that.. they think we should take whatever pays..with coin being the only measure stick?.. But we dunna  do that..cause..we kill slavers and such on the way, just for the bleedin' fun...other merc  companies don't like that..cause..some of them, are peopel we kill?... Just look at the board behind the bar...every Arrow that brings back a Patch..or pin,..or whatever they mark themselves worth, gets a silver..its not much... it  the idea  ye brought somethin'back

..anyway?... we can't measure a Unit's  success, like some folks do...but?..ye have ta be pretty stupid to not tell the difference between  good teams  an' bad... he shrugs,..so?.. Carn does  what he does, an' unless  someone speaks out against them..like some villager..or oneof his own team.. we canna touch 'im...not yet...

"We could join Carn's unit to see from within how he leads and what he does, but I have the idea he would not like us a lot?" suggests Kr'wyn, although he is almost sure Carn would not have someone like Justin or Myranda near his operations, if he is as untrustworthy as they suspect.

Re: THE WALK THE PLANK

Myranda gives Krwyn a conspiratorial grin. I suspect that's what the Roller is angling towards. Starting a process of checks to weed out the bad leaders and improve overall effectiveness Taking a spoon of stew and chewing Myrander looked across the table hoping to be able to judge Reedrick's reaction to the comment she was about to make. Swallowing the mouth full of stew she decided it worth stating.  So Carn gets Arrows killed because of his incompetence, there's nothing that can be done unless a Patron or one of his team speak out. swallowing another spoonful Does the Arrows have a Charter of Requirements?

ooc any thoughts Cassi?

Taking a position so as to best view all gathered, Haildas stands dumbfounded as the words pour forth from the table.  He was not familiar with either the people nor places mentioned.  As thus, he continued to hold his tongue; a custom now well-established.  A moment of unease traveled through him as the 'pale' woman approached the table; he was not unaccustomed to such creatures.  Though by comparison, he had never encountered one that spoke...or didn't try to eat you on sight.  The more she spoke, the more he became entranced by her.  If she truly was what they said, he almost felt compelled to speak with her more in-depth.  For the time being, however, he would continue to hold his silent vigil.

Nara's   hooded ehad, turns slightly towards  Haildas, her  pale  chin reveals a slight  smile.

an equally pale  , but dainty hand  bips  sa honeyed  roll into the  hot cup and the  bloody bread  is bitten off.

Reedrick   frowns a bit  as he spoons another  ladel of stew into his Bowl,...in the grand  scheme o' things, we have  ta worry about   our Contracts, and protectin' the Empire..'course  The Timber  always comes first..but the Empire is a good second, an' them people who canna   protect themselves...dunna  get me wrong, there's folks out there who hate us worse then 3 day old serpent meat...but  the real folks of the realms... The poor folk, workin' folk...even most of the troops..sorta like us... you'll get City watch who aren't too happy with us... I blame Ivy and Kree fer that..goes  back to they days  when Ivy was thievin' and  Kree was  walkin' 'round the  hall o' the palace...

he shrugs,.. we  hafta let CArn Play out his hand.. if he's a traitor.. it'll take him a year ta die....

Nara say is a soft voice,..or longer...

..for the rest?... ye just  do yer  jobs, and kill folks who need kilt.

Haildas studies the woman with careless abandon, not caring who witnesses his staring.  Her meal was both revolting and intriguing and he was unable to prevent himself from watching like a small child stares at new wonders.  When he is finally able to regain himself...

"I...am sorry for staring but, I must ask...what precisely would you designate yourself and your kind?"

  Reedrick frowned at the Question.

Nara's smile grew, just a tad, again the soft voice almost whispered,..I am...my people are... Vampries... except  for  the two eldest...none of us  wished the curse...some are mere Children..two of them have been slain byt CArn's  unti.... The Elders are having trouble   reining in the  adults....They see  only that Arrows  attacked them...Kree recovered some Good will when he gave us the slaver offerings....but that does not take away the deaths of  our clan mates...

she spooned  a bit of  honey on another  bit of  roll. A thing pinky ring on her left hand sported  a tiny  ruby Arrow...Carn is   either  tryig to start a war with  My clan... a war, neither side  could win.... It would  break the treaty Kree has  forged with us... and Unless   a whole enst of hunting Vampires  on the  realm.... we would, of course , suffer through Attriton .. we would only be able to trun som many compared to how many we would lose.. But it would weaken the Arrows, and cause  concern for Merchants that travel overland, between here and Tou, and here and Trok

Re: THE WALK THE PLANK

Myranda rolls her eyes, at the futility of this situation, she's trying to suggest alternatives to address the issue with Carn, and is instructed to keep her mouth shut and do what she's told. 'No problems' she thinks; let Carn run a muck, she doesn't really care as long as the fellow doesn't get in her way.

Considering the discussion Myranda gives an intrigued slight smile, at the thought how the Sisters will enjoy toying with the situation; nudging it this way and that.
Ladling another serving of stew into her bowl she grabs a loaf of bread adds butter and honey then settles in to enjoy her meal. Occasionally watching Nara consume her blood meal. Slightly puzzled by the thought that the unfortunate woman/undead must get terribly tired of the same fare, very little variety.

Haildas listened intently as the pale woman spoke.  The rare encounters he had had with vampires before were never this...social.  He was curious to know more but given his status, he chose to remain silent on the issue.

"How extremely fascinating", was all he stated.

Kr'wyn is also fascinated by the meeting with the female vampire. He is not upset by the blood she consumes, as in the lands where he hails from, it is quite common among farmers to make and eat a delicious blood sausage, or black pudding as it is sometimes called.

Re: THE WALK THE PLANK

or her part, Cassandra listens carefully.  Clearly, the Arrow group was much larger than she imagined, although she's still not at all sure what they are talking about.  After all, who was this Kree fellow?  And were they all doing the same sort of thing or were there other types of missions that they were doing.

For a girl of the streets, this was quite a lot.  Accordingly, she failed to keep the look of utter confusion from her face.  And wished for a drink to appear.

Cassie looked around, then at the money set in front of her, then at the food she hadn't touched.  "I have a lot of questions, but I don't know if I will like the answers.  I ain't... ain't up on such things.  Nor her kind.  I just wanna help."

She pushed away the money.  "I didn't earn this.  If you want me to steal it, that's another thing, but I don't steal from the good folk.  So I guess I gotta do something to deserve this."

Reedrick Looked at  Justin when she said she   'didn't earn it. He gave the  fellow a deep frown, and says to Cassie,..well Girl? if  they just  signed  ya up..consider it  yer sign on bonus....

Nara breathed an answer,... My kind.....  we are of two branches.. one branch, are the dark and Evil that created us... the other..are us, who were  created, more or less, by accident.... we try not  to harm  people.. but we are gifted   with some as a  way to both feed us, and punsih those who are sent.

The Dwarf   sat back from his bowl  holding his ale in one  hand,.you'll get yer chance Lassie.. if ya stay around  , long 'nuff.

Re: THE WALK THE PLANK

Justin nodded at Reedricks comment, he hadn't much of an opportunity to mention this as Cassandra only just joined and the team didn't have the coin for any incentive Aye Master Reedrick be correct; yon coin be a sign up fee. Missy Cassie with this boon Thee shouldst aviail Thyself of some of Ironmound's interests. When an opportunity presents itself Justin will arrange for the slavers equipment to be either transferred to the Arrows Store or converted to coin for the unit.

Haildas kept his focus on the vampire woman consuming her warmed blood but with food; what a most curious sight indeed.  The prospect of studying, even if only on the surface, a creature of such magic was too much for him.

"If perchance, we happen to manage some free time, I would be very curious to ask you some questions, if I may ms...damn...not so good with names."

Cassie looked around as if she were a child offered candy, then she snatched the coins as if she were afraid they might disappear.  "Th-thank you, I shall... I shall try to be worthy of it."

She looked at Myranda.  Wolfing down several bites of food, as if she hadn't eaten in a while, she nodded.  She had specifically ignored the comment about how skinny she was, she knew that well.  "I... I would love that.  Please, lead the way."

She nodded at the others.  "Thank you, again."

Weaving her way past the tables and patrons Myranda lead the way out of the Walk. Once outside she offered Cassi her arm. Where do you want to go first, this city is huge. What with all the zig-zagging of streets, lanes and buildings, it takes a good two hours to get to the Temple district from here.

ooc is that about right?

Master Fetcher would you happen to know how quickly we could reach the Temple District if we tried galloping all the way. asked Myranda curious to know if anyone had tried it. It'd be interesting see how the locals take to that she quietly adds, giving Cassie a subtle wink.

But Cassie my dear; you have been notice by the Gods, Specifically the Sisters of Fate, do you think you've chanced upon the Crimsons wasn't orchestrated.

Wrinkling her noes at Fetchers mention of being carried off in an Orc cart. I suspect if something like that were to happen there'd be quite a load of bodies occupying several Carts...

Okey-doke lets see what the Merchants have to offer by way of enchanted trinkets
