Re:  HEADING OUT...SEEING A BIT OF  IRONMOUND>

Early in the morning, one of  the  barmaids  makes her way up to the Arrow's  Floor. She  knocks on each door, a firm but  quiet voice, Awake...time  to break your fast, and ready for your Journey..."

Down stairs  kree  and  Reedrick  have  a  map spread over the table. They are talking  about somthing, reedrick taps an area  with  a thick finger, The elf  shakes his head  and points a slender  finger  at another  spot.

Next to the map table  is  a long  table  with pots of porriage, warm bread, butter  and  sauasges. There is even  some fish , for those who partake of seafood in the moring.

The  dwarf  chuckles, Aye, but  they don't like the meat enough ta go into the swamps, on this here side of the river...

Rolf follows along, his mouth shut and his eyes and ears open.  He still seems rather intense on the topic of slaying the catfolk.  Also, he looks like the idea of leaving the town is a happy one, by far a fellow who seems more at home in the wilds then among the relative ease and comfort of the town, any town.

Re:  HEADING OUT...SEEING A BIT OF  IRONMOUND>

The group  finishes thier morning meal, and all head up the  docks, West, towards the  Main river  gate, and the  Westard city gate. Looking across the river they can see   the rise of  "the Mound"  Ironmound was named for...not  far from there..the walls  and towers of the Emperor's  Palace.  The rgeat rivers is Busy, smaller fishing boats  ply the water..a few merchant vessels  are warping out of the docks  with help from Longboats.

The  Navel Ship Yard seems to be nearing the Launch of a three Masted warship, there is also  two smller  ships in docks being worked  on..reedrick points out  that those are prize vessels  taken in battles with  eitehr  Pirates or  Red Isles folks...In the Middle  of the  river, now  and again as  swirl can be seen, and  the jagged  ridges of  some serpantine creture.

Those be the  River Serpants..nasty beasties..none  knows how  big they get...out side the  City? there is rumored to be beasties Bigger then some of them warships...

When the knock sounds at the door, Merik finishes his morning prayers and head the the bath to splash some water on his face. He hastily does thus and heads back to his room. Sorting his gears, he dawns his armor and repacks his pack. His gear on he heads down to eat.

When the group sets out he is quiet, Listening to Reedrick trying to take in all the man says.

Re:  HEADING OUT...SEEING A BIT OF  IRONMOUND>

The  walk west, up the  docks until the  docks  end  an a small path leads to a street a few  yards  away. The group notices   several other  Inns  as  they walk up the  docks, some  to the East of  "the Plank" the one they past to the  west is called " Dockside Rest" it sits on the other  side of the small street Wave  St. ,Inn St is  to the east of The Plank, where  "the Bronze  Goblet"  sits ... Music  and  rough singing   can be heard, even at this time in the morning. Looking  towards the River they see  a number of  Ironmound Regulars  armed  with Heavy Crossbows. An Elf  with  a Longbow, wearing the same uniforem stands  near the  path, his  bow nocked  as his eyes  scan the bank...on the bank are several halflings   with chins  about thier ankles hefting  huge stones  to place onto the bank. other  have  sledges that that smack down onto the snones to set them firmly in place.

One  of the Halfling  Look up and shout  something at the group, questioning everything  from thier  birth, to thier manhood, to thier choice in lovers...One of  the  troopers  walks over to him, smacking him hard on the  back with the  butt of his crossbow, the HAlfling  falls, the elf's  Bow  and  the  other troopers  crossbows come up in unison...the  rest of the priosners  go back to work  while the  loudmouthed hlafling  tries to shake off the pain. reedrick shakes his head, should just be usin' them  for serpant bait!

a small sign on the street  that they now  walk up says  Ware St.  the past a  shop called   " Ships  Ahoy" that  appears to deal in items  for  use of  fishing   and pleaseure vessels..below, on the bank are many colored  rowboats and skifts that seem to be for  rent....another shop, Call ed " Furs "  is on the  south side of the street. There a re three North Men unloading  pelts  from a back of a two wheeled, horsedrawn cart...some might notice, there are pelts  form Cat folk there.... As  the near the Bigger Avenue, there is a shop  called " LAmps  and LAnterns" to the  north side of  the street are many  fine looking houses with  iron  or  wood fences and  some clumps of trees that  streets encircle..finally  at the  end, that meets  the Huge  cobbled  Aveneue is an Inn on the  corner called  "merchants  Rest"..the  Huge  avenue is called  North west ( or north east depending on what side of the drawbridge you are on) Way..here there  are dozens upon dozens  of  folks walking ,riding, ot gathered  about  talking...wagons  , carts and Buggys  go by, horse soldiers..adventure  folk on horses and nobles ride up  and down the  Avenue ..Good..its not  crowded  yet... the  elf  says, The dwarf nods  as he shoulders   through  some Adventure  folk who where gold armbands  with a red star on them...they part  ways when they see the  Dwarf, and deciede they have other places  to be..........

Just as a whistle from the east pieces the dull rumble Justin notes both elves and dwarves change and alertness. Absently allowing his hand to drop to rest on his sword pummel, he turns towards its origin. Noticing Fletcher and another man weaving their way towards the group.

"Greetings and well met Gerrad, I'm Justin" he responds taking the offered hand and giving it a hearty shake

Shaking hands, Gerrad looks across the group. Not in a manner as though sizing them up, but rather to assess who he is with.

Skills? I have many. I grew up on a farm, so I know something of the land and the seasons. But mainly I am a travelling performer by trade.

Gerrad Bows and with that flips back to a handstand, and further finally to his feet again. Perhaps I can be of use, springing traps on these 'cat-folk', or maybe there are greater foes for us to catch? Scanning the group, Gerrad looks at the assembly. So, what are you all doing here? Is this all for fun or profit?

The lanky warrior before looks somewhat ill at ease, obviously uncomfortable in the urban surroundings.  His studded leather armor is well crafted, but shows obvious use and he carries little, aside from a larch bastard sword and the stave of a long bow on his back, a smallish axe at his hip and a dagger strapped to his thigh.  A crude iron arrowhead is worn about his neck like a pendant, blunted and bent.

His gray eyes look at the newcomer for a long moment.  Finally, the head nods and a rough voice speaks up.  "Rolf Liefsen." he says by way of introduction, shaking his head in response to the question about who shall lead.

Re:  HEADING OUT...SEEING A BIT OF  IRONMOUND>

The  Bell rings  as the  stone arch settled into place  and  the Group walked south, over the Bridge. Those  who dared go near the  2 foot high stone wall could see the  water sparkling in the moring  sun...they could aslo see some strange swirls in the  water a time, and some large shadows gliding for a second  or so, before the vanished again.

They Pass The Western Gate Barraicks, some troops  where  well inside the compound, drilling and  Practicing...the there   were more Inns  about and some shops, the Crowds where thicker here  as folks  lIned up to get in and Out of the City through  one of the Two  Main Gates, Turning  aropund  and Looking  east, they could  see the  Huge  Avenue that Lead to the  Palace...walls surrounded the Palace  as did  a moat...from where they stood they could see formations  of Horse soldiers  patroling the  street, or rising  aboit  the Huge  Building...Just behind the PAlce.. but  near the Eastern end  of the City, they could  see  "The Mound" Ironmound  was named for..a few dots on the mound spoke of Tunnels, an a few buildings  where nestled on the Mound  as well.

Kree Poitned to the Boards  as he went to the Window of the Guard shed that stood  Right next to in...Reedrick looked over the papers, shaking his head  as he read some,..Here's one...Merchant's  daughter missing...one tenday...100 Gold  coins  offered  for information...500  for her body...1000 if brought  back safe!

There  was  an Young guard in the shed  as Kree presented  the charter  for stamping  with the Upgraded  names,..Take  that one off..he is no longer  with us...

The  Young Guard  sneered at Kree  and looked  out the window towards the others,..so? You folks are  the next victems huh? You'd be wise to follow  thsi other fellow out((..he  struck Tritsn's name  from the list))..maybe ya  all will libve  another  tenday!

THAT!...Will be enough Corpral... a sergent with a greying beard and a scar across his left cheek smiled  somewhat at Kree.,,,Going  out  to  Kill?  Or  be Killed?  he offered his  hand to Kree who took it  with a chuckle,we never go  out to be killed Myron... These  are New Arrows, we are going out to earn some coin, and killoff  some Cat folk..since you have  all your..um..'best' warriors  stuck behind nice  safe windows...

The Corpral was  about to say something  when the  Sergant glared  at him..handing the paper back to Kree. he  slammed the  window  down.

The Sergent nodded to Kree and took a step over to the Group...well met... and his eyes  judge  each person ne nods to the Thrall follower and adds,..This one  will either get you killed...or  get you rich...most times...you get a little of  both..

He rgins  as he  slaps Kree's  shoulder adding to the Group,..fair  luck to yuou all..Eta watch over you all..and Thrall aid  the strike  of your weapons!

There  were wagons, carts and groups  of  folks  waiting to be  left into the City. There were trios of Guardsmen who checked charters, looking  under wagons  and such... There was a man in ragged clothing  kneeling in the dirt, his hands behind his head., he  wore a red Bandana and he eys those around him with some hatered.

Reedrick waves  to them  before  re-entering the City, he shrugs off the arm of a young  guard  and begins to spout profanites at him, before  the other guards step  back and  allow him back in without any more  trouble.

Kree Points to a distant dot about 2 miles away of So, That is Bowshot...we shall go there  and spend the night, in the morning we will head there... he swings his  arm to the right ( north) where the Glistening  wide river  moves..another  dot is there, some  small ships  and some barges are there, That is the Bowshot Ferry..that will take  us to the Grasslands  where  we  will have   a much better chance on  hunting Catfolk...any  Cat folk on this side of the  River  will be  further South of us....andcloser to the  BlackTimber Forest..where my Village lies.

Gerrad turns to Kree: Who, or what are those?! Are they unfortunate recruits or simply the quarry we and others are expected to encounter?

Gerrad's face hardens a little as the caravan of death passes the party. Somewhere in his heart there has been a shift. This is a path in life that will draw Gerrad to use more than simple parlour tricks and acrobatics. His head lowers in thought as they continue on their journey.

Re:  HEADING OUT...SEEING A BIT OF  IRONMOUND>

Kree nods,  This  time  of  year, and  for the rest of  the spring, summer  and fall..there will be merchants, famrers  and travelers  about...in the winter  will be  those  who  bring in speiacl goods, folks traveling to see family for Holidays...but..there  will always be those like  us...who go out  to earn coin with thier  wits  and weapons...

The  elf  turns  a bit  as if he did not notice the  bodies before,..All those who passed us  were either Mercenaries, Companies, or  even  some  bravos who sat  at  an Inn one night, and deciede to be heroes after    afew Bard's  songs and many flaggons  of  ale..Those bodies on the Litters  are either  Comarades  they hpe to bring back...or perhaps bounties that have been collected...there is  a good  bet, we will look like that, next we head towards  Ironmound...

Soon,  a bunch of  horsemen  come riding hard towards  the City, 4 ironmound  troopers, they all bear wounds  and bandages, there  are two  riderless horses with them as well...THe  leader Reigns his horse in, not  far from the  and dismounts. A sergent, by his  look, his left leg is  a bit limp,  You..You men are Crimmson Arrows..aye? A painted  elf gave me this, to see if i might bring it to  The arrows in The Mound.  Kree  takes it   and opens it. He  reads it  for  a moment  and shakes his head, a dark smile on his face. He  reaches inside his tunic, pulls out  a small Purse and tosses it to the  sargent, Thank you..this is from  my brother-in-blood..might i ask you how  you came by your wounds?

The Sergent  frowns  at the purse  and makes to hand it back as  he answers,...we  ran afould  with River  pirates that had  a camp set up down this  side of the river..we thought them to be woodsmen, until we saw thier boats  hidden in the overhanging trees...I am thinking they attack at night, then make thier  way to the swamps, or head  to Olant...

Kree nods,  Thank you..and keep the coin..take your men to  The Walk The Plank...There wil be a dwarf there..Reedrick, by name..tell him  all you have told  me..and you and  your  fellows  enjoy the food and drink..."

The sergents nods with  a smile  and mounts up, the  men ride  hard towards  the City as Kree  says to the others,  Tental.  One of My brothers has found  a nest of  catfolk...he had heard  from Reedrcik we were on the way...who wants toharvest some cats?

You look like a man more comfortable away from these 'busier' areas. Am I right?

Gerrad considers his options as far work is concerned feeling he is probably better suited to hunting out pirates than wildlife.

Wherever we end up, it will be out of this hole I am hopeful.

Gerrad falls silent, looking back toward the docks every so often and then forward.

Pointing to the evergrowing Dot  of Bowshot, Kree  says,  If we seek to aid Tental against the Catfolk, we  will need to head towards   the Black Timber and  My  Village...if we wish to seek out the Pirates, we  must  go to the shores of the Storm, and work our  way down...we  will decided once  we reach bowshot, and  we can equipt  ourselevs accordingly.

There is   about  an hour  where  no traffic  passes them. But off  the Road is  a  small Tent set up...an older fellow dressed in plate is working  with some younger folks with blades  and shields..a fellow who might be  a squire works  on  some  weapons..a sigh posted in the ground  says "...Sir Matten of Harte..Blades lessons..and Blade  for hire."

the  sun begins  to work its  way behind  the  trees of  the Black Timber, some miles away. The  Village of  Bowshot is easier to see now, even in the fading  light.

There is  a Palisade  around the town, the  main Gates  stand open with a squad  of troopers milling  about . On the parapits  are archers and  in the  Towers are mounted heavy Crossbows. Each tower has a person  peering   about  with a Seaman's Telescope.

A Ring of  Large posts stand around  the  walls, a good 30 yards  out. a group  of  people are Lighting Brazers that sit  atop these posts  eluminating the area  around  the town. Though they are a good 500 yards   or better away...the group can hear a shout  and several of  the Gate  guards  ready themsleves  for  the Group's  approach. A small wagon  has  come  from the North and stopped at the  gate, while the guards speak with the  driver, and two more guards inspect the wagon..............

Merik walks with the others keeping an eye on the passerby's. Not knowing about traps, he listens to the others converse and takes special notes of the sizes of the Cat folk. "Where is the dry good store?" He asks the merchant when he suggests looking there. "Need to keep the food stores up and maybe get a pot, tea and honey."

outside of that?..my main contribution is practicing  my bow, so i might help defend  the palace from the battlements?... the sad thing is, if an enemy ever got that close, it would mean the  city has  fallen.

stepping up to the waist of the boat, she waves   Luthien away, so she might be able to Row..

Two kids  are fishing with battered poles, the bait they are using  is  in a broken wooded  Mug, they don't seem to be having as much  Luck...

Dala   uses  one   oar , to spin the boat towards them...  when they  reach the two kids, they look a bit scared.....You fish  here often?

the little girl nods her head, the  boy  has a tiny smile, he seems to be the oldest,This  is a good place, no one picks on us here, if  we  fish from the wall.... we.. aren't doing too  good  today...

Dala smiles... she stands up and gets  one of the serpents... she already had  whacked its head, to kill it...stand  by the wall there  and  Hold out your hands...

they moved back  the  full 10 yards to the wall....Catch!  she tossed the serpent and the   boy and girl grabbed for it, and , between the two of them, snagged it...

There...now?  You can say you caught it, and will not be lying! she picks up  what is left of thier own bait.. tightens the lid  and   tosses it to the wall so it  won't  fall into the  water...

That should help...set your line deeper..the bass  are going to  shade now...

A warden was walking  along he asked, 'Mlady? is everything alright?

quite!.... I am giving your  a mission,, Sir Warden... when these  children are done, you will escort them to thier  home... No one takes the serpent from them, Unless thier parents  wish to sell it...but it goes home with them, so thier parents  may make that choice..

..as you say, M'Lady, they will make it  home, with the serpent and anything  else they catch this day...

The Boy points at her, a flicker of information seeped into his head....You are  the pricness Rogue!

the warden looked away a bit  embarrassed...

Dala laughed,..is that what i am known as?

the little girl nodded her  head again her eyes alot bigger now.

The  Boy , embolden a bit , said, aye , Your Highness.....they say you were  born in the palace...but your  heart is in the streets...

Dala smiles a bit, clearly touched...I was... and it is....what does your father do?

he works  the  docks   near  the  inns, helping load  and unload  when they need people...

  and your mother?

she dyes  clothes  for  rich folks..but they don't pay her much

the clothing the kids   had  were rope-belted  rag pants and  homespun  shits., they were  clean...save for thier feed from walking in the  mud on the shore.

She Looks at the warden...You will deliver this message  to the  children's mother....she is to report to the  palace, with her  children in the morning... I might have an opening  with our clothing makers, where she might put her skills to good  use.... she winks at the kids, and good pay...we must go now..Warden? make sure the Mother
 Understands...

..I will not   fail you, M'lady, I swear  by  the Black Timber...
she waves  at the kids.. they stood there for a  few moment s watching her row.... The the warden gegan to  fuss with thier rods, showing them the best  way to rig  and cast...

Dala looked at  Luthien, one serpent is plenty for two people, and  we have enough other fish for a rather large course  meal!

the Last few  strokes   were all she had,  , she she shipped the oars, allowing it to glide through the water, as two workers  waited to help beach it.

Once the ship had anchored, he was obviously subjected to a few odd looks from the workers, who noticed she was rowing and not him. He was clearly not disabled, after all, and had a Knight's physique. Moreover, they saw him rowing out to begin with.

Luthien pays them no mind, and simply steps out of the boat, and offers Dala a hand to help her up.

The Princess, Tells  the workers to have the   catch wrapped  for transport.   The horses  were brought  around for them as the  fishing Tackle were  returned .

the  fish  and serpent  were  brought out , wrapped in heavy paper, , with a wicker basket it  for transport.

As the pair mount up, Luthien caught a  Glimpse of  Antok and another   guard,  stepping  behind a tree.

Re:  HEADING OUT...SEEING A BIT OF  IRONMOUND>

Luthien can't help but smile and shake his head. Of course they were on standby. It prevents Luthien from having to do ALL The protecting with his own sword if something goes wrong.

Her father loves her, this sort of thing can't really be avoided.

Nonetheless, they'll go back on their own. Presumably with a mostly secret escort.

Well, it can't be helped. Meanwhile, he leads the way to Tra's temple. He was serious about giving thanks. They are carrying fish, so he won't be able to spend too long in prayer. But he needs to make a point of going to pray before they finish getting back. Perhaps the temple has some ice handy for recently cost fish.

Luthien strides for the Temple...upon entering, he immediately heads for one of the pews, and kneels down to pray.

Aware that they're carrying fish and he can't stay too terribly long, he only stays around 20 minutes.

From there, he makes a donation to the Temple for the generosity of his goddess...

Before he finally returns to the horses so they can finish the journey back.

The Princess walks  around the Temple. looking  at Icons  and   statues... she  smiled  and shook her  head   as attendants  asked her if she needed help or had  questions.

When Luthien was finished, they walked out, she giggled,..Maybe  I should  go see the Sisters? Luck is  as important as  skill....

After Luthien makes his prayers, and his donation, he returns to Dala's side.

"By all means. The Captain was always fond of the sisters, himself. I was always more of a hunter, personally, but in such goals as we had, they were aligned with one purpose."

"Perhaps that is why we were such an effective team. I do not recall too many getting away from us when we were hunting them. In truth, for the truly wicked, it is likely the sisters already have an alliance with the huntress, and it happened long before I or the Captain were ever born."

He was enjoying the ride with her. Princess Rogue. He'll make a mental note of that one. There teasing to be found there. He'll have to make sure the other suitors never hear that one. He'll keep it for just them.
