Spell Casting rules (work in progress)
 For a start:

  My system of  spell points/spells is this.

  YOur IQ+ level = spell points.

  Or...Wis + level= spell points

  IE  IQ ( 11) + Level (4) = 15

  That is the number of spells you may cast per day. You may cast..ANY..of the spells you have LEARNED. You need not memorize certain spells. However...the time to get the rest to "refill" the manna..or have you god "re-bless" you will be a bit higher.

  This  may seem like it is a bit over excessive..but these are harsh lands..and weak spell casters aren't good for anyone.

 to clear things Up..<Red>YOU MAY CAST ANY SPELL, ANY LEVEL YOU HAVE LEARNED, THE  LEVEL OF THAT SPELL SHOULD BE DECUCTED FROM YOUR SPELL POINTS...SPELL POINTS  DO NOT  RECHARGE UNTIL YOU REST..IT TAKES  1 HOUR  TO GET 1 SPELL POINT BACK..</Re

 For Paladine .....move the 2e,progressions  for spells to 3rd level.( This will still provide a difference between the 2 holy warriors craft )

to clear things up...you  know as many spells as IQ..or Wisdom....if multi class you add  IQ and  WIS  DIVIDE  by 2...Pick spells from both classes to reach that number.

The object is to allow freedom of casting spells without making  spell folk overpowering.

 Because of the reason above. 0 level spells  count  as one point for spell cost...the only other option is to eliminate the 0 level spells  and I don't want to do that..yet.

Perhaps a spellcaster who has these benefits regains their level worth of spell points each night, meaning that they are still subject to attrition in larger scale conflicts but the 'day to day' of adventuring is more readilly covered AND it still means something to be a higher level caster... other than sometimes higher level spells.

or a set fraction... like 1/2 or 1/4 their total spell points a night, so that they do really take longer to recover a full store... but are less likely to have to use their full store every day... so more frequently have more power but not having to be always.

Divine Spells Wisdom + level = spell points.
 IE WIS (11) + Level (4) = 15

Additionaly as Paladins are able turn undead as clerics three levels below their existing level It makes sence to allow them to cast miracles as follows

still using 1 hour rest, per spell point recovery.

 IN THIS GAME:

  A Spellcaster  can dispel his own spells, if he  casts ( has) Dispel Magic...it counts  as one spell use per cast.

  IF...It is his spell, he is dospelling..it will Auto dispel.

  IF...it is another caster's spell, the  roll must be made, it doesn't matter if the other caster  wants it dispelled...The  Mana ( or whatever you wish to call it)..will not recognize 'friendly' dispel...only the owner gets   'auto-dispel'

 IF...another spell caster is about, Most  other Casters will be able  to sense them...

(( Clerics will sense  others  as well...seeing dark, grey or white aura ))

 the caster  who's  spell  is being dispelled...will know   who is dispelling, if they can see them..the "muzzle-flash"..if you will, will show...only other casters  can see the brief  flash of power

 I will add this  to the spell thread as well.

Until I can get the time and Motivation to set up the spell lists..

  use the spells  from from the 2e players hand Book.

  if you do not have the  2e players hand book you can use the Core players hand book spells..i know some of them are different, but the Core Book has  more " domain" type spells, which is closer to the way I want the spells to work for   mages/clerics and holywarriors  here.


the "levels " will be ( from 2e book)

Mages

TOTAL ablitiy points  up to 100= level 1 and 2  spells

   ""  ""      "      101-200=  level 3 and 4 spells

 "         "          201-300=  Level 5-6 spells

"   "      "          301-400 = level 7-8

"                     401 -600  Level 9 and may create spells.

...................................................................

Clerics

up to 100 level 1 and  2 spells

101-200   Level 3 and  4 spells

201-300   level 5 spells

301-400   level 6 spells

401-500   level  7 spells

501-600   May pray for Guidence  in creating   spells.

.............................................

Holy warriors

follow the same path as the   Clerics...except they can draw  One  Mage  spell from each level ( this needs to be noted on CS)

Well in second edition elven magic users(arcane magic) need only meditate for an hour an can re memorize mage spells but require 8 hours sleep like any cleric to repray for divine spells as per the elven racial abilities listed in the 2e book complete book of elves. It still takes elven mages an hour per level to rememorize a spell however

 there are a lot of Homebrew rules here, with  2e as a base.

 the spellcraft rules I have, are to make the  spellcasters more flexible , without making them too over powered.

alright, Thanks to Justin, we have a chart in the spells CAsting thread....yo more or less can gauge how many spells  a day you can cast.

keep this in mind...

1. you have  to  have a list of Spells you know..Just like old D&D.

2. You do not have to memorize/pray for spells you have the  power of the weave , or the blessings  of your god...

3. You do suffer loss of  power as each spell is cast, the level  number deducted from your spell points..when you reach 0..you cannot cast until you sleep to recharge ( either   from the weave,or your god's blessings...)

4. Spells you  did not 'learn' can be 'taught to you, but it will take coin and RP time
