Re: River

As the Arrow  arouse, they saw  some of the Patch folk were eating Porridge, that some of the  women  were  stirring in a large caldron .

Ereg and Lill were still in  her  hOuse , though Ora was sitting with another  woman and her small daughter as they ate.

Dime was washing his  wooden bowl as he asked Justin,..how shall we  travel... should  we  walk, or that the Boat... or  do we  give the boat to the Patch folks? Something like thaat is a rather god prize for them?.. while on watch, I have only seen a few longboats tied to the shore?

One of the Older Men who walked with a bit of a Limp was approaching them, he held  a cloth in his hand, two younger  men followed, one carried  a Bow, and  had the watchful look of a scout on his face. The other  had a rather large  axe on his back.

The Fellow  looked around the area...most folks were either busy  cleaning Up....eating, or already starting thier  chores.
.. You seem ta be the leader of  these folk, An'  we have seen the flyers Lill had put out....

He shook his head a bit, looking at the ground, then BAck to Justin, Patch Houses...well... they don't get much care from the high and the Mighty...... some guards now an' them come through.... but that, don't help after an attack is already 2 days old?

..so?..Brining back  a youner fella , ta maybe, help the PAtch grow. well.. that's a damn good thing.... we talked to the  three houses  down the road.. they are gonna join our  Patch.. i mean?  there's only two hosues worth of folk there.. but the thrid house  can be moved into..an' were gonna Build another in between for another set of  ypung ones whose  ta be married.. that will sorta  ...bridge us with the  last Patch..make us a bit bigger.

 The Bowman Cleared his throat...

..oh?.. Aye.. so.. before i blatter on.. we  wanna give ya this, instead of what Lill was gonna give you.. we  have some of these, from a battle a few years ago... Bowshot Guard Captain said, that if you take a Black and Cross out the mark?.. it's good  anywhere..since.. The Hargen's would slice off a Hand if they found one  damaged?.. but ya can still cash it it... we save them  for the Big trips to Iron mound before the winter, for getting  supplies  for the patch..  I know it ain't much... but i know its more then Lill has..

He hands   Justin  a cloth... unwrapping the Cloth is a HArgen silver Treasury bar...The  Patch leader adds softly,..The Ferry Gobs?... they tipped us off that some  Hargen slavers  were  headed up the Tou?..  so  we made a deal with them..an'   used   one of our long boats to ..sorta..get in thier  way.. while Gob Archers  hit them from the far side.... in the end, we  found 30 of these  bars... we gave Half to the Gobs... used the other half  for the patch... that was a couple years ago?...  so we used some up... but that one there... that one is yours...

The  Bar had  an "H" stylized  with a Crown...the  H was x-ed out by using  some blade  ... but still easy enough to see where it came from... for the Empire?  it was a Silver bar.... for Hargen..it was no a symbol, that  some one attacked their people...

Re: River

Justin glanced at the other arrows, then at the three men Rising he bowed to each in turn Good morrow Masters, we thank Thee anst all here for Thy generosity. In exchange we gift Thy Community yon Longboat, mind it were used by Slavers anst mayhap such a taint be associated to it.

ooc During their return in the Longboat would any of the arrows or Dim have noticed any identification mark/s on the Longboat that would put the owners at risk from slavers

Re: River

The men looked at eat other, another  boat?..why.. all we'd  haveta  do is clean it up  a Bit.  Some folk mark under the  benches, or  under the Hull , so'll we'll take a gander.. should  come in handy   fer going up to Ironmound, or even fishing...

..Thankee for that... an' ye tell teh Arrows , they always have a place Ta rest here, should they need it...  the older man and the MAn with the Axe  walks off... the  Scout stays a bit, when he's sure the others are out of hearing range he  steps a bit closer,

..you folks  did right  by Lill and us. So I'll tell you this... The Gobs  by the ferry wanted blood for thier  kin being  killed... They are a small clan, Some  elf  warrior  made a deal with them, long ago.. they live at the Very edge of the Black Timber, and  run that ferry.. they keep an eye out  for HArgen troops and  slavers and such.. there was a  that fellow that came with you the  first time?... we caught him  trying to steal from the Old One, sneakin' in her  house  while she did the  landry for  the folks......

..well he sorta  paid for his Misdeeds... when we showed the Body to the Gobs, they were  satisfied with the kill..... The Gobs  have cahnged thier name a few times 'cause of the slavers.. but now that they are rooted in the   Black Timber, thet called themsevles  The  Black Axe.. and they where the   new  insignia..or have it painted on thier  shields and  such... good thing to know.. incase you run across Gobs..in your travel.

Re: River

Hearing the demise of Javal, Myranda describes him to the Bowman for confirmation purposes. If it was him she declares The fellow was a deserter, lout and braggard, who deserved what he got, especially for attempting to rob poor folk.

Re: River

The Scout ( a human Lad) gave a slow  nod, his eyes shift to Myra,..well.. i said my piece. Arrows  have  a known friendly thing  going with them gobs, and they ain't been nothing, but good to us.... so.. I'm glad that he was worth somethin' in the end..... he was brought down with an arrow..seems  fitting...

When he turns and starts to walk away he says over his shoulder,..Black Axe Chief?... he's pretty sharp for a gob.. managed to make his   people think, one fella  could have been able to do all that things that happened there.... in the  end?.. it  don't matter  now.. what matters.. is what happens here on out... he puts his hand  in the air  and waves without lookign back.

Re: River

Justin thanked the Patchfolk for their kindness, as they headed off. The Youths disclosure, was indeed welcome news as was the details of the Goblins presence in the area. He wondered which Elf made this agreement with the small Clan and suspected it may have been Kree's father. All the more reason to make their way to the Village. Once the team had eaten he informed them of his decision to head to the Black Timber if They chose to accompany him the were welcome. Master Dimetrios hath Thee had opportunity to decide whether Thee wish to be apart of the Arrows or Nay.

Myranda gave Dime a Empathic half smile. The fellow was given an opportunity to accompany them but chose to decline this, offering to tag along and gain the privilege of association and possible intelligence at the arrows expense. Thank you Master Dime your offer is greatly appreciated. Taking point Myranda started towards the distant Forest, setting a good pace that allowed the less skilled an opportunity to test and improve their mode of travel.

If we press on the Sisters may permit us entry to the City, however they may arrange for us to spend some hours in the field awaiting entry, first in line when the gate opens in the morning.

The   4 can  feel a mixed bag of reactions... Most are  happy that the Arrows had  come through. Others  seem a bit jealous, that  those  'lowly ' patches  further  from Bowshot, seemed  lucky enough to hire  a Band of Mercs that got the job  done

Still others  seemed to view  them with a cautious eye.. there were, after all, people missing from the last time they saw them...
