BLACK TIMBER

After watching the stag head off and then realizing there is nothing he can do for the birds except let Brie bundle the deceased, he moves over to see about healing Shadow's injuries.

Orlin watches the deer go then turns to the runner. "The lizard hide could come in handy, and the bones are strong.  The Razor hawks are only interested in the meat right?"

Ivy Nods as he wipes off the foreclaw...... in the Forest, one shares when one can.... one takes  when  one needs... one gives, when  one does not need...

Brie speaks a variety of tongues that she's heard when out in the forest.  She sees the concern that the other birds around her are giving and she does her best to speak fowl language to explain that they will be taken to a place where they will be cares for and safe even if they can't fly any more.

Kree  slides  down the   creature, careful not  to get in the  way of the Harvesting    Birds.

He is chuckling as he nears Brie and the  confused  Razorhawks on the ground...I know  not, what you are syaing? But if you called for aid?... I think they are it?

Ivy  took his bald   and  cut the shafts of his that did not look salvageable ...whatever   any of you wish to take.. you best do it  now..if you want Hide you can  take from the haunches and  belly, they will not get there for a bit...

Brie looked from the confused birds to Kree and back to the birds chuckling.  I see, she said.  I'm still learning so much.  Never can tell whose going to show up.

She gives a laugh again and then mutters some fowl language and hands off the bundle to the strongest looking bird.  She tells it to take it to Razorhawk village and to find a quiet boy that he will tend to them.  She slips a small parchment in the bundle and mutters some more for them to take off.

She looks up to Kree and gives a girlish giggle.  So much I learned being out in the woods just meandering about, she said.

She then gathers the rest of her stuff up and reorganizing her pack quickly.  She goes to the creature and gathers the arrows that were standing out from the flesh.  She made sure to get her own and not someone else's, though she'd pull them out and hold onto them in case someone came wanting them.

I guess this was a once in a lifetime occasion, she says over her shoulder to Kree behind her.

well?... The Balck Timber   has alot to teach... and if  we go to the trace Wood.. we will even have  more to learn...  I have been roaming these lands  for a good   5 years.. there are alot of  stuff i do not know....

Ivy  Grins as she comes  up  to them,..Aye..But there  are alot of  folks that know you..one way or the other!

Brie couldn't help but poke back at Ivy's own jesting to Kree.

Aye, and I'm certain there's not a fair lass that hasn't heard of you either, Ivy, she says with a plain smile turning smirk.

Sounds like traveling this area would be rather interesting at a later time, she looks back to Kree and smiles giving him a wild adventurous look.

Brie turns and looks to Gareth and the additional arrows that she had gathered and was holding onto.  She hands them over and giggles at his comment.

I'm quite certain it won't be the last, she said.  If any of them are damaged, when we rest I can work on some of them if you have spare pieces.

She gives them a quick look over as he takes them and does with them as he pleases.

Otherwise, may have to wait to the next town to stock up or have them mended.

Kree grins,...you do not know the   thrill of  running through the deep forest here... when you have chased  slavers or bandits... it becomes a contest, between you and the tress.. who will get them first...Some elves..Like those of the ironwood, have lost sight of that..so thier trees , no longer are thier comrades... yet, the balance is..even the Humans who grow to live here..are touched by the   trees.

The he turns to the others,..if any here  want any spoils from the Forest Runner.. take it now, we will rest here... if not? we will be on our  way, and  leave the   Razorhawks to thier   task.

After tending to Shadow and casting a spell if necessary, Lafisual heads over to Brie and thanks her for the arrows.  He then shrugs and grabs a tooth.  After studying in a bit, he finds a place for it in his pouch.

Once all were  ready, Kree   whistled to get everyone's attention   and  they moved out. Shadowmist was  well healed  by Laf.  As they Left an Alpha watched them go..turning its head now  and then

We will travel another  Hour  or two... if the  farm is in sight, we will push on to get there.. esle wise, we will find a suitable spot...

Ivy placed his  claw in a belt pouch, though he had to wiggle the thing a bit to get it to fit.... Funny to see a forest runner  this  early in the day... they noramlly will not hunt, until right before, and right after, sunset?

...Hard to tell...maybe the riders woke them, made them hungry for horseflesh?

Luthien had observed the Forest Runner, and the others had killed it before he'd had to draw his bow. And then the Razorhawks saw fit to help. It was...very interesting.

Orlin tucked the thinner , more flexible belly hid under his arm.  The creature was big enough to give him plenty of skin and he wondered how long the razor hawks would take to dismantle it. "If it were closer to where we would camp, it would have been interesting to help the Razor hawks harvest the creature.  I've not seen birds as intelligent or compassionate as that before.  I wonder if they care for the young of the fallen."  He thinks, "Do they eat all of the soft tissue or just fat and muscle?"

while they walk, kree     turns, walking backwards to answer ,..very few, have ever made it to the canopy, where Razorhawks  dwell.. It is a Long way  up, that there are dangers in the tress, one would not think on?  Sages  say they  have  Cone  shaped  homes  made of  sticks and leaves.. the   Boughs  and Limbs help protect them from the elements.. and larger  Hunters of the air...... some say they have  sacks , made from vines, they store  food in... bad  food drips down to the forest floor?..none have had any word, on the working of a Razorhawk settlement ..because none have ever been able to stay long.

Kree Grins,  deftly stepping over a bough on the road with hardly seeing it,..That is  true,  orlin... but.. most things  coming from above, give   nesting settlements a wide  birth.... even the snakes that  live in the Canopy seem to shun , going to near.... there are alot of   snake  sketetons to be found when you walk the    forest, when not using the roads.

Kree  nods to Brie,..aye. mayhaps , next we come home..I know of only one area , under a settlement, we could  gather crests for arrow heads.

He turns, back forward,  As the group continues  down the grassy road , they can hear some  birds Call,  sometimes rustles, or down right crashing in the  forest.

once such Crash, Kree's arm points to the left of the road,..some fool of a sage, in Ironmound, was giving a Street corner  speech... he asked..' if a tree falls  and  noe one sees it, does it make a noise.."... you now know..it does...

Ivy shook his head,..sages... they are like spell flingers.. i think the  book dust  gets in thier  heads...

Once a  Long Plumed Bird Glided  silently across the road...Long Purple  feathers, with  spots of Yellow  feathers. Ivy Points...Its a Barrow Bird!

Kree frowns,..Barrow Birds  .... they hunt for burial mounds.. and feed of the  insets that eat the dead... some say..they too, eat the dead.... do not let the  colors fool you.. though they seem graceful.. they  will attack, if  disturbed..... Wild Elevs, and Humans   try to capture them.... in the city, they bring  great coin for people's  gardens and such, after thier wings are clipped.....some used them to help find  Barrows and such for looting...though they must be trained  early... Both Humans  and orcs will eat the birds.. But i am not one for  eating something..that eats dead humanoids ..

..some  say the feathers will add10 to 15 yards to a well made arrow... I have never seen an arrow flecthed  with such feathers.., so i cannot  agree, nor disagree

Kree nods....Aye, they do... but the wind is the bane of those  who seek feathers. Thatv is one reason i gather  feathers to  take back to CArr... at least, until  he gets the skills to hunt the trees himself.

there was a breeze at their level, ...above the  wind  was much more active.
