1.5 Chapter 1 Epilogue

Upon return to Sandpoint the party notices a few new guards around, the Sheriff must have returned.  They are immediately summoned to see the council.  Still in their travel clothes, dirty from the trek back, the party stands before the assembled leadership of Sandpoint with a few interested others (Father Zantus and Ilsoari Gandethus).  At the last moment, Madame Mvashti even shows up.  This causes many to wonder, she hasn't attended a meeting in many years.  Others would have attended, but the meeting was kept small.  The mayor stands and asks "We are glad to see you have all returned.  Tell us, is the goblin threat over or must we prepare for war?  Tell us of your deeds."

Re: 1.5 Chapter 1 Epilogue

Cat leans against a wall, trying to figure out how much to share. "The goblin threat is over. They may go back to their old ways, but the recent threat is pass." She hopes. "We found the human that was uniting and inciting the tribes." No need to mention who she was. "She is dead, her plans for destruction are thwarted. The Thistletop chief is dead, as is his lieutenant. A less aggressive goblin now leads that tribe." She looks to the others to see if they want to add more.

Talis says, "The good news is the Thistletop goblins are now led by a druid with some wisdom.  The bad news is the Thistletop goblins are now led by a druid with some wisdom.  In closing, the danger is gone for now, until the next time someone comes along and unites the goblin tribes, which your children or grandchildren will have to face.  Deal with it now or deal with it later."

Re: 1.5 Chapter 1 Epilogue

When Cat starts with "The goblin threat is over" you can see a sense of relief come over most of the faces.  After Talis speaks that has changed to concern.  The Mayor speaks, "What do our other heroes have to say."

"The current goblin leader, Gogmurt", said Glum, "is wise as goblins go.  There's no point in anticipating a threat to your grandchildren, who knows... in our grandchildren's time all sorts of things may happen.  We may even ally with the goblins against Orcs or Drow or something worse.  I would say don't assume that safety will last forever but don't waste time trying to exterminate the goblins either.  Things tend to rush in where there's a vacuum, as their might be should the goblins disappear.  For the time being, you might want to try talking to Gogmurt."

Re: 1.5 Chapter 1 Epilogue

Several eyes light up with curiosity at the mention of a journal.  The Mayor continues, "I am relieved that it hasn't come to war and wish to thank you for your efforts.  Why don't you clean up and rest.  The Council will continue deliberations in a few minutes."  At her signal the council takes a break.

Ameiko comes up to Talis and lays a hand on his arm.  Her eyes are full of affection as she smiles, "I am so glad you are ok.  I have to stay here and attend this meeting but I will meet you later."

Father Zantus approaches Glum, "You speak with wisdom Master Glum."  Then in a quiet voice, "Was it really Nualia?  I feel so sorry for her."

Headmaster Ilsoari Gandethus comes up to speak with Zer-wedula about the journal and to arrange a later meeting.  "I am sure the others (the other wizards in town) would love to hear what you found."

Cat finds herself in the company of Madame Mvashti, "See this old woman you and you companions need too.  Bring what you have of this leader of Goblins.  See what the spirits say I will."  With that she hobbles off.

You also notice the Mayor talking with the Sheriff who leaves.

With their eye lingering on each other, Talis deeply bows and says "As you wish my Lady" and kisses her hand before leaving.  He heads out to his room, asking about local goings on for the last couple of days.

[Private to GM: He resolves to donate 10% to the church, particularly for a widows fund.]

Zer-wedula returns to his former lodgings which he assumes will be available for him, stopping on the way only to purchase a treat for Willi.

The next day he will seek out the scholars to review the journal.

Glum nods with uncharacteristic glumness.  "It was Nualia.  It's a sad thing but sometimes we find ourselves carried away with lust for this that and the other."  He shook his head sadly and then broke into a grin.  "Fancy a drink, Father Zantus?"

Re: 1.5 Chapter 1 Epilogue

Glum has a drink with Father Zantus.  They talk about Nualia and her sad life among other topics.  Father Zanthus offers Glum a place in the Cathedral to set up a shrine to his deity.

Zer-wedula finds himself the center of scholarly attention.  They eagerly ask questions about the dungeon and it's monsters.  Several offers of collaboration(book of history, magic, whatever interests Zer) are made.  There is some talk about how they could get access to the ruins under Thistletop.

Cat visits Madame Mvashti who tells her the spirits are still restless.  She wonders if Cat would help her try to find out why.

Talis gets visited by Ameiko Kaijitsu who wants him to manage the Glassworks for her.

The goblin threat is over and the city throws a festival with the heroes as the guests of honor.  Zer-wedula attracts much female attention.  There is some talk about contacting the goblins, though there is a contingent that wants to attack.

What would your characters like to do (but keep it local to the Sandpoint area)?  Please update the characters to 4th level and post them here.

Talis responds with a deep bow "It will be both an honor and joy my Lady."

Yes, Talis will become the manager of the Glassworks.  Surely there is an old retired glassworker around he can recruit to start teaching a new group of young recruits the glassworking trade.

more story to come....

Will edit in my 4th lvl character later....

Zer-wedula will tell the scholars all he remembers about the dungeon, including the old Thessalonian runes and the incredible fight with Malfeshnekor.  When not reciting the group's deeds for posterity he will make scrolls.

Glum will accept graciously his position in the cathedral and use it to teach youngsters moral philosophy, emphasizing the reasons for goodness, and the place of order in maintaining civilised life.  He will also lead them on cross-country runs and other muscular pursuits.  Some may even be good enough to begin training in the martial arts.

[I'll try to update my sheet over the weekend.]

Re: 1.5 Chapter 1 Epilogue

[Private to Zer-wedula: As many as you can afford.  I am looking for a "your character is settling in and getting on with life" thing.  Like what Talis and Glum wrote.
-Do you want a girlfriend?  Do you "play the field"?  etc...
-What do you do for a living?
-Hobbies?
Stuff like that.
]

Talis becomes manager of the Glassworks and recruits new workers (including several older orphans and a retired, mostly blind old guy to teach them).  He moves into the Glassworks.  Ameiko Kaijitsu and him have an "understanding", they are a pair, but not officially yet.  She needs some time to mourn her father and brother.  On his days off he likes to go on hunting trips, though he rarely brings back animals (ie: he hunts goblins).  He spends time at the Rusty Dragon with his girlfriend or the retired ranger/goblin hunter Daviren Hosk.  He is looking to acquire his old home/farm.

Glum moves in to the Cathedral and begins a working relationship as a teacher to the orphans at the Turandarok Academy.  He can often be found leading a group of them on physical excursions around town and the nearby countryside.  With his atypical not-glum outlook, the students like him and he becomes a popular teacher.  There are a few dwarf families (about 24 total) who welcome him to the community.
His advice is sought about Gogmurt and the goblins by several people, the political leaders (obviously) as well as some of the old scholarly guys.  They want him to help them gain access to the dungeons under Thistletop.

- does Glum have any vows of celibacy or chastity etc....
-do you help the scholars?  How do you help them?
-Would you be willing to head a diplomatic "team" and try to establish peaceful contact?

Because she's a cranky, strange old woman who needs some one competent to be her eyes, ears, arms and legs in the community.  She has a granddaughter who is her voice to the Varisian community.  Cat shall be her representative to the rest, and to run errands that are a little dangerous or require a druid.

-Where does Cat live; with MM or does she get a house or live nearby in the woods?
-there are a few halfling families (about 37 total), is she looking for (or at least open to the possibility of) a boyfriend or something like that.
-What does she do with her free time.  Does she have any hobbies?

Re: 1.5 Chapter 1 Epilogue

Zer-wedula settles back in to his lodgings and makes the scholarly rounds, dabbling in conversations here and there and taking advantage of the benefits of his celebrity.  He dallies with the ladies when the opportunity arises, but is not looking for long term attachments.  He figures his time in Sandpoint will someday end, and after the fight with Malfeshnekor has figured out that an adventurer's life is more than likely to end in a deep dungeon.

He does make it a point to participate in any plans being made to cleanse Thistletop entirely of goblins.

Re: 1.5 Chapter 1 Epilogue

Cat decides to live in the forest near town.  She is seen around town, running errands and talking with people.  She also keeps in contact with farmers and an eye on the goblins and such.

Zer-wedula lives the life of a bachelor playboy/wizard, living off the gold from the adventure.  Most of the young ladies he spends time with are not quite as forward as Shayliss Vinder.  While you can have fun and spend time with them, they aren't going to let you get to far.
You discover that Ven Vinder has a fearsome reputation as a brawler and a very short temper.  You begin to realize just how close you came to a beating when he caught you in the basement (You got luck with 2 good diplomacy rolls).  You may pursue a clandestine affair with her if you wish, but if it gets out you will have trouble.
Do you want an clandestine affair with Shayliss?
There is  brothel in town, do you patronize it?

Glum has only the monkly vow of poverty and a general respect for the Priesthood.  He is not chaste and his tendency to be obedient to the Church does not have the force of oath.

He helps the scholars by showing them how to correct their work before the teachers see it, and by explaining points to them.  He also teaches martial arts.

Of course, he's wiolling to head a diplomatic team and work toward peace.  Glum actually respects Gogmurt (although he wouldn't go as far as to say 'likes').
