Jan growled as he scrambled after the Assassin, claws reaching and jaws snapping as blood matted his fur.

The Alchemist felt light as a feather, his blood boiling hot in his veins and dripping off his body.

Seeing Jan covered in blood, and hoping all of it wasn't his, Miriam tried to buy him another few moments to finish off his foe, focused a magic-laced command on the assassin he was fighting, "Halt.".  She then took a few steps back.

Re: 2.2 Magnimar

Round 9
Catessa Fallowfield completes her summoning spell and suddenly a strange cat (Cheetah) appears next to Jan.  It proceeds to savagely attack the Mantis for 14 points of dam.  Meanwhile Murphis, lacking further specific orders, shakes the dead mantis 1 last time and then comes up behind Jan, curious about the big cat.

Jan attacks the invisible Mantis near him with animal-like fury, but the invisible mantis avoids all his attacks.
Jan missed on his 50/50 mis-chance for invisibility, sorry…

[Private to GM: ½ speed tanglefoot – for 3 more rounds]Talis tosses the alchemist fire on top of the bar, which begins to burn, adding wood smoke to the smell of burned troll and burned people..
[Private to GM: Talis at -4 hp and -2 con]

Tanrov boldly taunts the Mantis, and then backs up his words with a solid slash.  Crimson blood flows from a wound in the assassin, but he remains standing.

Logalog fires a scorching ray at the assassin attacking him, but misses.  The Mantis assassin gets an Aoo, but misses thanks to the mirror image spell.

Zer-wedula pulls out a wand and blast the bat into oblivion with magic missles.  With 4 con damage, Zer has definitely seen better days, though it isn’t as bad as some in the recent past.

Sammiya Koi[Private to Sammiya Koi: and Akihiro move after the halfelf assassin.   Sam has no clue as to where she went and Akihiro misses her ambush.  She springs forth (with an aoo) as the pair move by and lashes out at Sam with surprise…again.  However, she misjudges Sam’s skill and hits nothing but mist (misses by a lot).  This does giveaway her position and Sam and Akihiro attack,   Defending left Sam out of position and all her attacks miss, though Akihiro gets a nip in.]  The battle in the mist pauses, and then quickly resumes.  It sounds like they are playing cat and mouse, though who’s the cat and who’s the mouse?

Miriam's commands an assassin, who feels compelled to just stand around for a few seconds.

Grigori continues his inspiring speech, to bad he is inspiring the bad guys.  Otherwise he doesn’t move..

One Mantis assasin dies from Cat's animals and Jan, then the Cheetah runs upstairs (the cheetah vanishes in 6 rounds without returning).  Another is killed by Tanrov.  Grigori takes cover in the mist for a couple of rounds.  The halfling bartender proves most elusive.  He has greater invisibility on and can attack without becoming visible.  He focuses his attacks on Miriam and does 36 damage to her (over the course of several rounds) before Grigori comes out of the mist and throws some dust over him.  Visible, the halfling assasin dies as a volley of weapons and spells come his way.  Grigori casts a Calm Emotions spell and says "Good that's all of them.  Look, I'm not one of them and I want to make a deal.  I can help you if you help me.  But act quickly, we don't have much time."  He has no weapon out, but wears a rapier.

Situation; You are in an Inn, surrounded by the dead bodies of Red Mantis Assasins and various bystanders.  The halfling blight druid is gone.  Grigori is visible and waiting for a reply.  The bar is on fire.  The front doors are open.  There are 3 bystanders and 1 Mantis who are not obviously dead (they may be alive).

-What do you say to Grigori?
-What do you say to Logalog and Sam?
-How do Sam and Logalog introduce themselves?
-What are you focusing on? (example; search the bodies, help the injured, search other rooms, etc...)  List a couple.

Feeling the calm emotions sweep over, but not control him, Talis says "I knew I liked you when you didn't want to kill us right away (code yellow).  Why don't we collect the valuables around here and go someplace else to talk, like civilized beings."

To Logalog and Sam;

Grigori just shakes his head as he looks from Cat to Sam, "What are the odds?"  Then to Cat, "You must be Catessa Fallowfield, hero of Sandpoint.  Which would make you Garth, you Zer-wedula and "Aldern" must be Talis.  I had heard you were in town, but I never expected to meet you personally.  If you are here, that means Lord Aldern is dead.  Pity, he owed me some money."  Turning to Sam, he gives a slight bow "So that would make you Sammiya Koi.  I suspect your brother has flown the coop, so to speak.  But what I don't get is how he knew who you were" as he indicates Cat, Zer, Talis and Tanrov.

08:04, Today: Tanrov rolled 16 using 1d20+5. will save.

Tanrov is a little shock that this bard knows who we are, even if he doesn't show it other than an arched eyebrow and smeared frown.  All the more reason to capture him for questioning because even though he wasn't one of them he certainly helped them. So no one kill him because I would have to defend him if someone attacked

T/G thinks the half-orc mage is okay in a fight but is curious as to where he'll fit into our team, cough, cough, gaggling madly, I mean group.   He diffently isn't sure how a samurai is going to fit at all especially after watching the little showdown between the two Halflings.   If they don't stop I will probably have to go over there and knock their heads togerher. I would much rather have them mad at me.   The kid in me thinks, he also thinks that who doesn't love kids.  He, He   The samurai was very foolish in combat, I mean courageous in combat.

Tanrov/Garth agrees with both Talis and Miriam.   We should first check on all wounded especially us, bystanders than them, in that order, and when it comes to the Mantis we should either kill him or capture for questioning and then loot, loot, loot the bodies.

Re: 2.2 Magnimar

Usually fairly strong-willed, Miriam found her violent impulses quelled by Grigori's spell.  Of course, she wasn't really all that prone to violent acts when no one was threatening her or her allies, at least not anymore, so beyond minor annoyance, which faded quickly, she didn't feel all that put out about the situation.  Noting that the bar did appear to be on fire, she gestured and dumped a dozen gallons of water on it, hoping to keep the building from burning down, at least while they were talking.  She walked over toward Jan, who looked really beat up and applied a healing spell to his wounds, then turned to Grigori.  "I was willing to talk before, and I still am, now that the less reasonable people appear to have been dealt with."  She looked at Sammiya for a moment, quizzically. "You're related to the halfling druid that was attempting to kill us much of last night?", she asked as she began to walk around, checking on the condition of anyone in the bar who seemed to be a bystander rather than an enemy.

Grigori relaxes a little as no one tries to kill him right away.  He looks at Sam, "Magical fountain, interesting.  So was that what made him a vampire?Talis is correct, we need to get away from this place, the Mantis have some sort of failsafe enchantment that will destroy this place in the event of it being captured."  He steps away from the 2 dangerous looking halfling females when they start arguing.
[Private to Tanrov: Now that you think about it, you only knew that there were undead on the stage.  You just assumed it was the dog.  They both might have been undead.]

While Tanrov pulls the unconcsious Garundi sailors away from the burning bar, while Miriam starts creating water to douse the flames.  With a little help the flames are put out, but the smell of smoke, blood and death still fills the tavern.  Both sailors are alive and stable, but unconscious from the poison.  The man in the corner is also alive.  Grigori comments, "That is Lord Milstrom, a member of the Council of Ushers."

Grigori will direct Zer over to his table, "If you want a drink, that is where I keep the good stuff."

At Miriams comment ("the halfling druid that was attempting to kill us much of last night?") Grigori smiles, "So that's how he knew you.  Something to do with a house fire perhaps?"

Logalog looks as though he's trying to fend of a sneeze and shakes his head. Grigori's spell is trying to get a foothole in Logalog's head, but finds none.
"Just what I need," Logalog says to himself, " more addled whits. Why don't they ever just buy a guy a drink?"
Still grumbling, he turn's his attention to the rest of the room. The bar is full of two types of creatures : those prone and bleeding, and those standing and bleeding. Unfortunately, the dead and dying had more familiar faces. Not good. There was one among the living who he recognized, though.
" Grigori, while I appreciate not wanting to be eviscerated," Logalog says to the bard, " you best keep your tricks to yourself. It's been far too long since my will was my own, and I find anyone reaching for it...upsetting. You and I need to chat about how my employment to this Mantis infested dive came to be."
" As for the rest of you, " says Logalog to the group," I like the cut of your cloaks. Tracking down evil druids? Vampires, even? Heroism? Adventure? I find these as nutritional as bread and honey, and I'd like to know more about all of you"
     "For now,"
he continued,"let's continue that grand tradition of all those who fight evil in the name of good: loot the bodies! Doing good deeds is quite expensive...." He proceeds to do so, not thinking of the bar burning around him or the huge assumptions he was making about his new friends.

Jan whines as he feels his wounds heal, and he looks a a little dizzy for a seven foot plus wolf monster.

The Alchemist silently helps out the group when he can as he collects himself and calms down on his own, the pesky thoughts of calm being swept away by the strange mix sedatives and adrenaline.

It focuses his anger wonderfully as his heart palpitates on a slight off-beat, he glares down at the Bard Grigori.

"Schtop dot shtopid spell now or Hy vill eat you face." Jan declares simply as he pads up to the bard from the side and places a massive paw on the man's shoulder.

"Vait no, dey need you face...Please schtop or Hy vill eat you arms or someting." Jan smiles wide, still a bit out of it. His muzzle opened to reveal white fangs.

The Wolf-monster Alchemist makes sure he has a good firm non-painful grip on Gregori's shoulder.

When Logalog makes his comments, Grigori just nods.  He will give Talis and Logalog some directions on what to look for in their looting.

As Jan starts moving his direction, Grigori notices and quietly moves over to Miriam and Tanrov, helping them put out the fire.  When Jan grabs his shoulder and Cat starts pointing her spear Grigori listens to what Talis says and stares into Jan's eyes.  With coolness that belies his situation Grigori says, "You still don't get it, we need each other.  For while I helped, YOU'RE the ones who killed them.  Should they find out, we will all be on the Mantis hit lists.  And they never give up, ever.  I know them and together we might, just might have a chance.  So remove your hand from my shoulder and let me get to work."  While his tone is light, there is steel behind his words.
[Private to Tanrov: You get the sense that he is desperate, but telling the truth.]

Logalog and Talis find various loot.
I will detail it later.

Miriam and Tanrov collect the 3 unconscious survivors near the front door.  The 2 sailors are down in con and need some healing.  Lord Milstrom is just knocked out.  The dwarf waitress is also stable, but at negative hps.  With the fire out the bar is again very dim and smokey.

Cat, Sam and Jan are talking.

Zer finds some good bottles of wine and carefully puts them away for later.
