Sammiya made a tough choice, whether to let Akihiro hurt himself and try to end the main source of the problem or to stay with Akihiro and continue to protect him from himself. She chose to go after the leader. Hopping away from Akihiro, Sammiya thought to run around the end of the makeshift altar, but as she thought of it, it occurred to her that it was simply a table. Bending over, Sammiya ran forward trying to go under the table to get to the leader, who was still being pelted with magical bolts.

Sammiya Koi
rolled 17 using d20+8 for attack on leader.
rolled 6 using d6+3 for damage if hit.

     A maniacal grin comes across the rogues face as he gets to "...Stab the dog and cut the horse," in the Goblin Song and he looks at Akhirio.  He continues the refrain "...catch the pup.  Bonk the head to shut it up," and he takes a whack at Akirio with his sword.

Tanrov says "Miriam can you help me with a healing please."  Tanrov yells over the din of battle etc.  After being healed Tanrov will move forward 5', next to the samurai and put out the fire which is on him.   "Miriam watch out for the cultist beside you."

Jan has dropped to all fours, foaming at the mouth as he has a epileptic fit of some sort. He slams his bulky body into the guard rail around the stairs to his left and then he twists around to slam his head into the window to his right.

The Alchemist howls as slams his muzzles into the floor and grinds into it.

Round 9
Miriam bravely puts herself into harm’s way and heals Tanrov.

Murphis just grins and wags his tail at Zer, he doesn’t understand what just happened and holds no grudge.  Catessa Fallowfield feels the magic that is causing the strange actions cease and she becomes master of her own mind again.  She mounts Murphis and rides up stairs.  Once she has a good view of the battle she throws a magic stone from her amulet at the Leader, but misses.

Confused Talis keeps singing the disturbingly catchy goblin song while he whacks Akihiro for 5 damage.

Confused x2Sammiya Koi momentarily comes to her senses and jumps off her dog with great skill.  Moving under the table she and swings at the Leader, but alas, she shows less skill and misses.  Poor Akihiro continues chasing his tail, and catches it, chewing on himself for 9 damage.

ConfusedJan seems to mirror Akihiro and slams himself into railings and doors doing 5 damage to himself.

Tanrov moves forward so the samurai doesn’t get flanked and manages to put out the fire, though not before taking 5 more damage.

Logalog’s head finally clears of the confusion enchantment and he fires off a scorching ray at the Leader.  His aim is almost perfect and he forces the Leader to dodge out of the way, scorching the elf’s shoulder.

Zer-wedula continues firing magic missles.

The Leader, concentrates and casts another healing spell, and he looks to be almost back to full health.  With his health he regains his confidence, “I will kill you all and use your bodies to create undead followers.  Then shall I complete the list for my beloved Xanesha, and then she will reward me.  We will be happy together, forever.”  Definitely something strange is going on.

The Manager reacts to the Leaders statement by glaring at him, “So, all these ‘greed’ murders have been at the bidding of a woman!”  He turns away from the Leader and moves toward Cultist #2 and Miriam.  He seems to smile at Miriam, but it’s hard to see with most of his face covered.  Pulling a little figure off his bow, he tosses it over Miriam’s head where it transforms into a female lion and it attacks her.  “I don’t suppose we can make a deal?

female Lion hits with both claws, but misses with the crucial bite.  Miriam takes 15 damaqe.

Cultist 2 attacks Miriam with his razor, but doesn’t even come close.

Chewing up his own tail seemed to snap Akihiro out of his delusion. Whining from the pain, Akihiro spun around until he spotted Sammiya. He then darted under the table to get to her, where he then stck his nose between her legs as a queue for her to mount him.

Meanwhile, Sammiya lost her focus and the world suddenly ceased to make sense. The chaos all around her was incomprehensible at best. And then there was Akihiro trying to nuzzle in between her legs from behind and nearly knocking her over. It was all madness. Sammiya did the only thing that she could think of to do and that was to tell everyone to stop. Before she could do that however, she needed to remember how to speak.

Talis will look over at Sam and almost says something.  But he recognizes the confused look and briefly wonders if he looks like that when he is confused.  But no matter, right now he is not confused and Miriam is in trouble.  He will wait for Akihiro to move and slide over into his place.  Then, he will try to indicate to Logalog or Cat that flanking would be a really good idea right now.  After they have caused a distraction, he will strike.

To hit natural 20, hopefully confirmed with a 25
dam 9 +12 if confirmed +12 if flanking(sneak attack)

Cat had several plans running in head, but the lion attacking  Miriam muddled everything up. Much as she hated the idea, the beast had to be dealt with. Stepping forward as she resets her spear, she stabs at it.
Murph tires of attacking allies and goes after an occultist.

No real movement on Cat's part needed,  I think. Just in for effect/

"You've abandoned Father Skinsaw for the arms of a woman?  I don't know that he'll look very favorably on your lack of fidelity to him.  He's just never struck me as a forgiving sort of god.", Miriam commented, tartly, before sucking in a pained gasp as the lioness appeared and struck her from behind.  "What sort of deal did you have in mind?  Opening negotiations by trying to open the veins of the other party is an interesting technique, though I can't say it really puts me in a very favorable mood.", she replied, as she undid nearly all the damage the lioness had done with another pulse of divine energy.

12:48, Today: Miriam rolled 14 using 3d6. Channel. Excluding 3 most yada, yada...

Round 10
Miriam finds herself in the middle of a dangerous situation death cultist on one side and a lioness with murderous intent on the other.  So she sends out another healing wave and almost everyone feels at full hp.  Miriam also manages to avoid the fire burning nearby.
All the heroes heal 14 dam

Murphis and Catessa Fallowfield attack the lion threatening Miriam.  Cat manages to wound the beast while Murphis just manages to distract it.

Confused x2Sammiya Koi just stands there trying to talk, and failing.  Akihiro moves to defend his mistress.

Confused Talis momentarily comes to his senses and moves over to also attack the lion, and with the lion distracted by Cat and Murphis, he lands a perfect thust straight into the creatures heart.  As he pulls the blade out, it’s like he let the air out of a balloon and the lion collapses back into a figure.

ConfusedJan just growls and howls.

Tanrov luckily catches the Leader zigging when he should have zagged, forcing the BBEG to exert himself to avoid the deadly scimitar, leaving a deep scratch behind.

Zer-wedula lets go with the big guns and casts a lightning bolt.  The Leader is still really fast and manages to avoid the worst of the bolt, though it does leave him scorched and smoking.
The Leader does NOT have evasion or electrical resistance, but DOES make his ref save for ½ dam

As the lion is defeated and turns back into a figurine Logalog seems to be stunned.
[Private to Logalog: It's like a psychic shockwave attacks your soul when the lion "died".]

The Leader glares at his former minions, “and she is a messenger from Father Skinsaw, she said so herself.  Traitor, I don’t need you, I can finish these heroes by myself and then we will recruit new members.”.  He takes out his unholy symbol, and a wave of negative energy washes over everyone (except Zer, who is out of range), including the cultist and the Manager.  Rynshinn, the sacrifice, goes pale, is she dead?  It’s tough to tell.  [Private to Tanrov:  She is still alive, but barely]

The Manager looks rather pale as he shrugs, “I thought it would be a strong bargaining position.  I’ll tell you what, we leave.  You kill him (ie:the Leader).  Then we try to kill each other later.”  Putting words into action he tumbles quickly through Miriam’s space and starts moving toward the stairs.

Cultist 2 follows the Manager, and while he doesn’t show nearly the same level of skill, he manages to get the job done.

Try as she might, Sammiya could not figure out how to make words. Sounds she could make, forming actual words was escaping her. While trying to sort out how to form wors she had been trying to ignore the dog trying to get under her. That seemed to anger the dog and it bit its own hindquarters, an act that infuriated Sammiya since it was her dog. Raising her sword, Sammiya attacked Akihiro to make him stop.

Sammiya Koi:
rolled 11 using 1d8+4. Bite damage.
rolled 18,7 using d20+8,d6+3. Sam attack 1 and damage if hit.
rolled 9,4 using d20+3,d6+3. Sam attack 2 and damage if hit.


Both saved vs negative energy, half damage

After looking at the leader for a few moments, Tanrov ascertains that the leader is almost down and with this knowledge will attack the leader with an attack that weaken any other man.  He drops his shield and takes a 2-handed grip on his scimitar.

Miriam wards off the worst effects of the negative energy blast and steps away from the remaining foes as her friends deal with the lioness in summary fashion.  "Not very strong, apparently, and I can't say your deal seems particularly appealing.", she commented, unleashing another pulse of positive energy to counteract the effects of the leader's channeling.

Cat is starting to worry. Even if they survive this fight, she's not sure everyone will be all right. Plus, she's feeling a bit drained. Knowing it will only make things worse, she starts summoning another ally. Murph advances a few feet towards the cultist.

Round 11
Miriam channels positive energy to counter the Leaders negative energy.  The sensation of the negative and positive energies is strange, like your body doesn’t know if it hurts on not.
All the heroes heal 11 dam

Murphis and Catessa Fallowfield stop and Cat starts to cast a spell.  And she’s still casting the spell…
[Private to Catessa Fallowfield: Now, the 1st thing that happens on your turn is the creature is summoned, and you don't need to decide which creature you are summoning until then.  So if you want to change it to something other than a wolf, you can.  State an action for the summons and for Cat and Murphis.]

Tanrov’s luck proves more powerful than the Leaders skill as he again hit’s the Leader with his magical scimitar.  Scorched and tired, the Leader just can’t get out of the way and he takes a slashing wound that drops him to the ground.  The elf’s blood begins to cover the floor.

Zer-wedula bravely blocks the stairs while using his wand of magic missiles on the Manager.  The Manager is seriously hurt (0hp).

Logalog seems to be in a daze as he moves forward, drawn by the little figure sitting in the blood soaked sawdust.  Giving cultist #2 a swing which he misses.  The manager is too wounded to attack.  He reaches down and picks it up.  It seems to glow in the fire light.

Cultist 2 pauses and casts a healing spell (CLW) on the Manager, but gets distracted by the jaws of Murphis, who takes a good chunk out of him.  Seriously wounded, but still up, he somehow manages to tumble though Zers space and gets to the stairs.  Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than skilled.

The Manager says “Where’s that blasted Halfling?”  With the dog distracted by the Cultist, the Manager moves over to Zer.  “I can make it worth your while to get out of my way.  How about 100gold?

Rynshinn Povalli regains her normal color and wakes up from the positive energy.

Suddenly an air elemental comes flying up the cargo shaft.  It pauses and in strangely accented common (after all, it doesn’t have vocal cords) says “I’m right here and I told you they probably escaped the collapse.”.  Shosuro seems to survey the upper room, “What have they done to you sister?”  He casts a spell and an obscuring mist forms around him.

[Private to Zer-wedula: The tiny ball “demon” (from msg 73) also flies up the cargo shaft and bites Zer.  It seems to have healed the damage from the lightning bolt.  Zer takes 5 dam from the nasty looking teeth.  You doubt if this thing has been to a dentist…EVER.  Since it attacked, it is now visible, or it would be except for the *^$% mist.]
There is more sounds of combat from Zer's direction.

Akihiro stopped chewing on himself, so Sammiya left him alone and began to sheathe her sword but stopped when she noticed Tanrov close by. It was all his fault and now he was plotting to attack her. She understood now and rather than sheathing the katana, Sammiya whirled on Tanrov and attacked.

Sammiya Koi:
rolled 16,6 using d20+8,d6+3. Sam attack 1 and damage if hit.
rolled 18,9 using d20+3,d6+3. Sam attack 2 and damage if hit.

OOC: Ignore the crit verification roll on the die roller.

Fog. Cat really hates fog. Her summoned wolf should appear behind the manager, and goes to help Zer by trying to dispatch it. It, the wolf, can't be bribed. Murph goes to hunt the remaining cultist(#2?). Holding her spear at an at ready position, Cat steps forward towards where she thinks the dark druid was.
