Re: Pyros

Ducking back out of the smithy, the big warrior takes a moment to assess the situation outside.  Seeing that Catessa and her dog have a goblin well flanked and any more chefs in that kitchen could spoil the soup, he then moves west down the street towards the sound of the goblin singing, wary as he moves for any goblins that might jump out at him.

Seeing Talis prone on the ground though, Garth moves in his direction to see what if anything he might do for the fallen man.

"Now", said Glum in goblin, "You may just have saved your life", but of course, as he says this, he continues to rain blows upon the hapless goblin singer.  The first clear blow misses, "If you surrender like a good girl, you may live to fight another day".  The second blow does not miss and glum strikes her firmly.  "What do you say?" he asks.

Zer-wedula steps out of the smithy with a loaded crossbow and an itchy trigger finger.  He sees the dwarf is flailing madly at a female goblin and concludes that chivalry is alive and well.

Talis is in his familiar prone position.

The halfling and her dog seem to be trying to sandwich the last goblin.

Even though he swears he can hear an on looker urging him to shoot into one of the melees, he instead begins to carefully pick his way around the fights towards the two sleeping goblins.

Cat is relieved when the goblin goes down.  She quickly moves to Talis and lets the others deal with the last goblin.  But she gives Garious the ok to take out the last goblin.  Garious eagerly charges the singer, his jaws wide for the bite.

Spoiler text: (Highlight or hover over the text to view)
If it's ok with you, DM: from now on I am going to roll twice for each roll.  The first one will not count (I've tried it elsewhere and it seems to help).  I don't see another solution.  I still haven't rolled anything higher than a 14 on d20.  And other rolls seem low to average too.

*smacks head* this die roller is buggy.

13:07, Today: Catessa Fallowfield rolled 5 using 1d8+1.
13:17, Today: Catessa Fallowfield rolled 22 = 19 + 3 using 1d20. Garious Bite. +3

Re: Pyros

Round 5
Zer-wedula moves out up next to sleeping gobin5

Round 6
Talis is visited by 3 ghosts, battles past, present and future...sorry, wrong story.  Still down and not moving.
[Private to Talis Revain: Well, you'll be happy to know, my policy is going to be "death can happen".  I doubt if it will today because Cat has healing spells.]

Catessa & Garious cares for Talis with a spell that heals the worst of his wounds and brings him back to consciousness<again, at 0 hp>.  Meanwhile, Garious lopes over to the singer, carefully avoiding the cart on fire.
[Private to Catessa Fallowfield: Too many distraction for him to charge straight alone, but I used that 19 for the Aoo]

Naomi moves toward the sleeping goblins and shoots goblin6, who doesn't wake up (probably ever again), 7 dam.

Glum underestimates the singers quickness and misses with the same routine.  Even with the big dog of Cats suddenly appearing next to him, snarling at the goblin singer.
<Stud leather+16(+)dex+small=minimum of 17ac>

singer regains her composure "These boys less good, but me better and you DIE! ", and then the big dog comes snarling in her face.  "No he say longshanks easy prey..." and she turns to run away.  But instead of just fleeing, she started drawing an arrow.  This momentary lapse was all Garious and Glum needed.  The dogs attack causes a brief scream, which is cut short by Glums throat hit, 9 and 5 dam.  She goes down, spitting up copious amounts of blood.
<Instead of taking the withdraw action, she was going to move, then shoot her bow.  This provoked Aoo's, both of which hit.  Remember, not all opponents are as stupid as goblins.  In fact, not all goblins are this stupid.>

Goblin5 The carts fire has grown large enough to start causing dam, he takes 1 dam and wakes up.

Garth Looks around and notices goblin5 waking up, while the singer just went down.  He moves over to attack goblin5.  Just before he does he hears Zer-wedula say "I think we should take one alive for questioning".  Since this is sound military strategy, Garth uses the flat to bludgeon the goblin unconscious and then drags him away from the fire.

Out Of Combat
The Cart fire is now doing 1 dam to anyone within about 5' (see the dotted line on the game map).
You have 1 unconscious, slightly singed goblin as a prisoner.
Talis is awake at 0hp.

Now that the goblins are dead, a group of locals led by a woman(Cheliaxian, much stronger than average) come in to make sure the fire doesn't get out of control.  The woman goes over to the pile of weapons and starts handing them out to the people with her (mostly men still dressed in their finest festival clothes).
"Thank Torag you came when you did, when I saw the fire I was afraid those vermin had lit my shop on fire.  My name is Lt... I mean Savah Bevaniky."  You notice she doesn't take one for herself.

There is still plenty of chaos noise with goblins running amok.  But from your vantage point you can see the tide starting to turn.  By 1s and 2s, the citizens have made it to shelter and are starting to arm themselves, with the braver souls beginning to group into small bands.  It isn't over, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.  You figure this would be a good place (lots of armed people) to take stock, bind some wounds and otherwise collect yourselves before more goblins come.

Cat sighs with relief.  Things were starting to turn desperate.  But the arrival of Savah bought the group some time.  Talis starts to move but Cat hold him down and says "You're not out of the woods yet, Talis.  Any strain and your injuries could reopen.  Lie  still until I finish please, or it will all be for naught."

Calla chants the same prayer as before.  her hands glow softly with a bluish light, and most of Talis's remaining wounds close up.  She smiles happily at Talis, with a prayer of thanksgiving to Sarenrae.  She takes her hands off Talis and says "You may get up now, Talis.  You should be almost as good as new."

Ok.  I'm not going to do the double rolls after this.  The dice roller seems to have gotten better, and I didn't actually need the second rolls.  And they seem to be duplicates anyway.  Apparently, it needs a bit more than 3 seconds to clear the roll.  I rolled much faster than that in the test and got less duplicates.

Re: Pyros

Talis regained consciousness with a headache. For the second time today, he groaned at his own foolishness. "My uncle was right, I should have taken up wizardry." Sitting upright, he noticed the people around him, glad for the second time to have reliable company. He made a mental note to repay them for their benevolence, if he ever got the chance. "I am in your debt, miss. And yours a well, Zer. I would be dead twice over if not for both of your efforts. I am indebted, whether you wish me to be or not." Rising to his feet, Talis retrieved his sword, letting it rest against a shoulder, while he examined his wounds with the other hand. His armor now had two great, blood stained cuts in it, and a few minor scratches from near misses. He would need to get that fixed, soon. Talis was becomign painfully aware that real combat was nothing like the street fights in Riddleport, where the enemy was by himself, and a fast blade meant victory.

"Has the git talked yet?  If not, I can always lend a bit of persuasion." The warrior grins and draws his sword across his throat in a mock display.

The sun is just below the horizon and the last light of day is beginning to fade away.  Savah certainly seems to have some experience with command.  After setting up guards watching the roads and a couple to tie up the goblin pow, she spends a few moments in her shop and comes out with a few things.  "Say do you have any more healing mojo, the big guy seems to be hurting some.  Here, you seem to have some skill with that blade, try this one.  It's not quite finished, but the edge will hold and the balance is better.  I think this is about your size."  She looks him up and down before she loans Garth a chain shirt and a mw bastard sword.  "You might need more than 1 bolt to go hunting."  As she hands Zer-wedula a case of bolts as she eyes the crossbow.  "We'll set up a blocking point here to limit north/south access on High Street.  Here, why don't you wake him up and see what he has to say, since you speak the language."  Handing a bucket of water to Glum.  You also notice how many are staring at Naomi.
