He is always free to attack with a ranged weapon if that's what you're asking.

Roland has no ranged weapon. Can he attack a tentacle in melee without having to approach its main "body?"

I think I'm going to call this for a few reasons. First, I've realized I don't enjoy DCC as a system. I enjoyed the funnel mechanic and Haley Stroh's adventures. Second, this module (not by Stroh) is a convoluted slog. Third, it's not even written for DCC which causes the intersection of two problems: I don't have a good feel for the challenge level of DCC and I have to translate this one to DCC.

Going forward, I'll probably only be running OSRIC-style adventures, maybe Arden Vul.
