Re: 6th OOC

I guess I’ll roll d30 and ignore any results above 27.

Update: I rolled all of my spells and their mercurial effects.  Somehow I managed to not roll a single offensive combat spell....

Now rolling up my goon.  Will choose highest str.

Re: 6th OOC

True.  And... sweet.

I think both of my characters are about ready to roll, except for my familiar.  Shall I roll it, or do you want to handle that?

Hi all. My prime attribute will be strength as I plan on being a warrior.

All right, I scrapped the thief in favor of a cleric. Someone needs to keep you lot alive.

Welcome, new player!

Re: 6th OOC

Hey, all. Happy 4th, I guess, for my fellow Americans inclined to celebrate it. Outside of Boston, I was treated to a Blue Angels fly over. That was enough for me!

A couple of you are new to my games so I'll talk a little bit about the desired pace. Weekend posting is optional. That said, if everybody posts on the weekend, I will post as well. I might just use a weekend post to advance the game as well. Three or so posts during the week would be good. That said, this adventure could have a lot of dialogue, so we'll see how that goes.

Here are a few extras for this run:

*This adventure is inspired by a major non-American work of literature. The first to identify it via PM will get a reward.

*The first player to use three English words (not in one sentence) unknown to me will get a reward. Don't be too cheeky about this. I suppose poor Neftas cannot compete in this, at least with his dialogue.

*Finally, the player whom I deem to have done the best detective work will also get a reward.

Go now. The game is foot.

Re: 6th OOC

Ah, no, I just neglected to look into it.

OK, before the events described in the first post, I would assume Betrugar had had the opportunity to attempt to summon a familiar at least once. If you don't get a 12 or better on the result, you can make a luck check to see if you had the opportunity to recover and try again before the shipwreck. If the first (or second) attempt succeeds, just proceed to the relevant tables to generate your familiar.

Re: 6th OOC

I failed my Find Familiar roll and then bungled my luck check, so it looks like I’ll have to wait.

Re: 6th OOC

That's a successful luck check; you wanted to roll under luck. No modifier, though.

Some might argue that the player makes up for what the character lacks.  I don't believe I will be this easily dissuaded from your erudition competition.

Re: 6th OOC

Well, Clark Ashton Smith would have won the competition on the first page of one of his stories, "The Coming of the White Worm", which had:
--welkin--
--sortilege--
--coracles--

Prob no update until tomorrow late afternoon or evening.

Ah.  Should I roll Find Familiar again, then?

Re: 6th OOC

Yes. It means you were fortunate enough to have had time enough to recover from the first attempt to try again before the current events.

Yes, yes. Ye shall learn the ways of my baroque expression. I've loved the word "ligature" ever since I saw Nick Cave's Australian movie, The Proposition.

Sorry, I think I lost a day last weekend when I went for a run the day before the heat advisory. Upper 70's would appear to be my limit.
