Re: 6th OOC

That would put him at 14, yes. 9+2+3=14. Or he could burn one point and borrow a point from Roland who gets +2 for each point burned.

Oren is only one point away... If I can't borrow then I'll burn my own.

Re: 6th OOC

Since we're doing party-based init, I should go ahead and roll it. I switched to d6 vs d6 and will award ties to the party based on Oren's +2 init bonus. It didn't matter for this round. I have come to think that rolling init once every round increases tension, and that I like.

Works for me. Waiting for everyone to roll individually gets tedious.

Work is going to be nuts the next two days; I will likely not update again 'til Wednesday.

Re: 6th OOC

Question on warrior deeds:
At 1st level, the deed die is d3 and if the player rolls 3 or higher (i.e., 3) and hits, the deed succeeds.
At level 5, the deed die is d7. Does a roll of 3 (and a successful hit) still  mean the deed succeeds? If so, it seems that for high level characters, deeds would almost always succeed on a hit especially as the die gets bigger.
Is that right?

Re: 6th OOC

Yes -- with the results of the deed improving with the deed die roll until it hits 7 and plateaus. I have a couple of more modules lined up after this one so we should be able to see that in practice.

Since no one wants to land the killing blow, I will call this encounter and you may proceed.

Re: 6th OOC

I have removed Tom from the game. His desultory posts were insufficient to maintain his spot on the roster. Yes, this makes things harder for the rest of you. I suggest you make sure all of your magic items have been equipped.

It’s a good thing my posts are always right on time, or we’d really be screwed.

Re: 6th OOC

Folks, it's going to be one of "those weeks." Weekend trip coming up Thursday-Sunday which compresses my work week Monday-Wednesday.

I will be able to check in only every few days but will post when able; I just won't be able to post a lot. NPC me if needs be. Will check in IC later today.

Which corridor do you all want to take out of this cavern?

Is Tom’s expulsion up for discussion, or is your decision final?

Did you want to adopt him? One of you could run him, I suppose. I did like my final post for him, though.

In reply to Autarch (msg # 641):
Hmmm... What class is Tom? Maybe I could give him a go. At the very least, he'd give Krovas someone to argue with during slow posting times. : )

No, I’m referring to Tom’s player.  May the player return, or is the expulsion final?

Re: 6th OOC

It's final. It's already come up before. I'm not here to both DM and play.

I should be more explicit; I told him a ways back that if he wanted to play in this game that he would have to play more. He agreed. But he just hasn't over the intervening months. He's the last to post during combat if he posts at all.

These long-term RPOL games are like long-term relationships. While appetites don't have to be identical, they shouldn't be too far apart. If they are, there is too much friction and resentment.
