If I get in on this pig battle, do I roll initiative first? And are my swords d6 damage?

yes and yes.

Meet or exceed init 4 to act first next round (it'll take a round to get from the poop deck to the main deck).

Re: 6th OOC

Hey, all. I just wanted to give you all a bit of an update.

As for this adventure, I think we're about 2/3's of the way through. Survival is not guaranteed.

As for the pandemic in the US, we're in early days and survival is not guaranteed. My wife just flew back from LA where she had been visiting our daughter over spring break (my daughter flies back tomorrow). We've stopped all socializing. Both of us can do our jobs remotely (she will finish teaching her classes online; mine can be done via phone/text). That is to say I can keep my job but only be occasionally effective at it. In most respects I can't do care coordination.

I suspect this will last months rather than weeks. As for the ensuing economic depression, years rather than months.

It’s crazy.  And things may change a lot as a result.

Re: 6th OOC

Every day there's new shit going on.  Our city just declared that as of tomorrow morning no one should leave their house at all except for the minimum necessary "life sustaining activities," as they've been calling it.  I've also gotten set up for therapy via video chat, so we'll see how that goes.  My wife works at a hospital, so even though she doesn't have any direct involvement with patients they're still expecting her to show up in person.

I'm curious if people who have been playing post-apocalyptic games in recent months have suddenly found that they're losing their appeal...

I’m finding it harder to focus on Rpol in general with everything that’s going on.  But this will probably change.

Cling to whatever reserves of sanity you might possess.

Coily plans to post today so I'll update after he does.

The Three Strangers are doing essential finance work and can't focus on the game right now.

I'm starting a game of Final Fantasy Tactics on my PS3, a game deeply rooted, evidently, in the zodiac. I want to match my main (male scorpio) with female Taurasi for best matches. Strange, that's my match in rl. But just one of them.

Re: 6th OOC

Would there have been decks of cards on pre-industrial sailing ships? Dice for sure.

Not sure.  Tarot cards, maybe.

Also depends on how closely we want to stick to real-world technological limits - no reason a fantasy world couldn't have relatively advanced printing.

Re: 6th OOC

I don't think they were mass produced until the … 19th century. As such, they were probably luxury items like books. Dunno. I just asked because I watched Portrait of a Lady on Fire and one night, the lady, the maid, and the painter play cards--and it was clear they were the lady's (pre-revolution France).

Hey all :)  My plan is to hit the die roller and then read the IC thread before posting up.  If anyone is interested in having relative(s), let me know!

Re: 6th OOC

Welcome to the game, Ecla!  I wouldn't object to having a relative or two in the game if you wanted to go that route.  Especially if you roll up a dwarf - a protective cousin might help explain how Neftas has made it this far in life without getting killed already!

Re: 6th OOC

Thanks :)  My trio practically rolled themselves as a woodsman and his adopted sister; however it's possible people may know Zobart as he is older and also a gambler who has probably tried to swindle everyone he's met lately.  Go ahead, toss him overboard, I won't mind  *grin*

It occurred to me just now that these "luck checks" might be modified by Luck stats, in which case -1 to each of those rolls but they still pass the DC 10  (whew)

Correct.

So only two unexplored locations: the fo’c’sle and the stern-port door. This is not counting the sealed off bilge.

Re: 6th OOC

It's a spacious cabin with a simple bed, wardrobe, and locker for storing personal effects. There is evidence that it has recently been used as a makeshift tattoo parlor: spilled ink, preparatory sketches, the whiff of hairspray.

I believe this is Dahut's boudoir .. unsearched?

Assuming the others tell X & co about the crates, the trio's next stop will be there.  After that ... my vote is the upper deck/forecastle.  Does that include a crow's nest?

Re: 6th OOC

Actually, it's the First Mate's room which doubles as a tattoo parlor (with all of the accoutrements). Two of the islanders do sport gnarly tattoos.

Right the Crow's Nest. I added that location to the Star of Nostro post. It is separate from the f'c'sle.

You would be able to recover your gear from the lockers in the crew's berthing. If you wish to search the ship supplies, you need to make a DC 10 Agility Check to secure the crates (+2 for the smuggler in the group (Kovac)).

The Star of Nostro post says Olfred is on the main deck, but I was under the impression he was dragged to his death out a window into the sea below...
