Also is the current monster within range for Endo to move and attack from the forecastle ladder?

Coily:
The Star of Nostro post says Olfred is on the main deck, but I was under the impression he was dragged to his death out a window into the sea below...

oh, right, yes. good times.
Coily:

Re: 6th OOC

Sorry, I think I got confused with the various descriptions and labels being tossed around.  What I meant was that he's attacking the creature that is attacking us right now, and which I thought you were referring to as the "kobold of the seas."  I'll edit my IC post to clarify.

Re: 6th OOC

So, yes, the Klabautermann, is a water kobold which I have given the epithet: Kobold of the Seas. There have some other references to this friend of sailors in the game.

The bipedal stone iguana could be referred to as a "great kobold." But that could be confusing.

I would have been interesting if, by destroying the figurehead, the monster had died as well ...

Re: 6th OOC

I finally had enough other things die down so that I could go through the IC forum, post by post, and take notes.

This has helped me understand things a bit better.  It's a challenge to try to make heads and tails out of the clues and situations!

I also want to say that I've really enjoyed the funny stuff (the Dahut molestations excepted, bad bad!) that has been posted.  DCC remains a very difficult game over play-by-post, because of all the deaths ... you almost have to treat the characters as if its cartoonish.

I think we've got a decent chance against the Skrag if we band together.

Fixing the ship and getting home, well, that's tomorrow's problem!

With this being the case in point, there are three written records as such:
  • Ship's ledger found in the locker in the Poop Deck. Just recited by Endo. Edited to reflect current number of islanders still in vegetative states.
  • The First Mate Conant's final log entries.
  • The Captain's Log. This will take about ten minutes to read.

Umm, yes, we probably should read this right away.  I believe *checks notes* Fouillis has the logbook.

For searching the crates to get a wheel to fix the helm, any volunteers?  With the usual RPOL die roller shenanigans forthcoming, we'll need someone with good AGI and lots of luck to burn to avoid Death By Crate.

Re: 6th OOC

The crew of the Star of Nostro have secured the cargo crates and barrels so meticulously that any attempt to retrieve an item without first securing the adjoining containers results in an avalanche of crates and barrels coming down on the PCs.

Canadian Ingenuity:
Proposal: use 10' pole, ropes, chains and other implements to reduce the DCs on those checks  :)

I would think that that 10' pole or length of chain in the hands of a landlubber would have just as much chance as triggering the avalanche as just trying to secure them by hand--if not greater.

So just roll, already :).

Re: 6th OOC

All should declare what they plan to do with their next turn.

Noted!  (*gulp*)

Posting in OOC so we can co-ordinate a little:

Y: as an Animal Trainer I'm hoping she has the right background for the +2 ambush bonus, if so she'll make the die roll on that *gulp 2.0*.  She has an idea that involves fresh livers as bait.  She will need help with traps as mechanical devices aren't her thing (hint hint, chestmaker)

X: is going to assist Y and help organise the ambush, i.e., find people who want to fight and make sure they have weapons.  He's a woodsman, he sees the monster as a big tree that has to be cut down.  Choppy choppy.

Z: is a coward and not going to fight but he IS going to try to read the charts.  Endo want to help too?  Might be good to have some redundancy in this life-saving endeavour?

Also: can any character sing or play music?

Ecla - Kat can play the fiddle, though he'll want an explanation before he pulls it out.

GM - can we help each other on rolls here?  Like, say, if either of my folks want to lend Yolanda a hand with the trapping?

Re: 6th OOC

For clarity: there is nothing to indicate the creature descended into the bilge through the barred hatch as the ick is limited to a small area away from the hatch. This transmutation has been witnessed before.

To wit: Yolanda watched the creature dissolve before her very eyes.

Did you all know that the Japanese had kamikaze subs and boats as well as aircraft? Bonzai, indeed.

Re: 6th OOC

Questions three:
1) Did we see lifeboats anywhere in our previous explorations?
No lifeboats.
2) Can individuals burn luck to improve INIT?
Yes, the one who made the roll for the group.
3) Diving into the water and then swimming under the ship and popping up around is at least possible, yes?
The ship is moving too fast for that; you'd need to be tethered. You're not in deep waters either, so you risk being shredded by a reef. I wouldn't do it.

As I understand it, it will take an islander 2 full rounds to escape from the bilge: 1 to get near the platform and the next to reach it and climb the ladder.
