Re: And so it begins....

Dwight Oakhurst:
Dwight shrugs, "I'm not opposed to bounty hunting or bodyguard work. I might take a repo job depending on what I have to get from whom."

"I might know of something then in the way of the latter but I will have to check.  Do you have a number you can be reached at?" she asks.

Two coffees and a slice of apple pie ala mode are delivered to the table by the waitress.  Joan nods to the waitress.  "Thank you."

Dwight nods, "Alright. I'll hear a pitch for a repo job if nothing else."

After taking a sip of his soykaf, he shots her his number and then smiles at her, "So you say you've never heard of the Texas Rangers or the fact that the Rangers have a CID?"

"Well no.  I know of the Rangers and I am aware of CID.  I have just never heard of that show.  History and ancient entertainments of century's past are not my strong suit.

"Though I think I heard once about a famous Texas Ranger, he was a Walker or something, a guy named Chuck Norris."

Dwight laughs, "The Lone Ranger has been around for nearly a hundred-fifty years now. As for 'Walker, Texas Ranger,' that was...something. Chuck Norris was just an actor what knew karate. He was made an honorary Ranger for that show though. My daddy and uncle Eugene both talk about it once in a while, but they tend to laugh more about it than anything else. Course, both of them served as part of the holding action at the second Battle of the Alamo."

In reply to Shaman (msg #51):

DS smiles, "I am on my way. Out." He signs off and turns to his sister, "Keep your comm up just in case I need you. This sounds simple enough. Stay here though. I may need you to bring a thing or two for me. Bye sis." He kisses her on the forehead then dashes to his room. He quickly changes into his armored clothing, grabbing his L36 with concealabe holster, several shuriken, straps on his forarm snap blades, and 2 flash bangs. Insures his comm is secured and protected and that the items he took are well hidden as he throws on his secure long coat, he dashes out the door to his bike. He fires it up, places his helmet on and speeds out without a second thought. There are many questions running through his mind but he places them to the back for later. Now, concentrate on the job at hand. He brings up the navigation system of his comm and enters the address to where he is to go. The directions flash up on his HUD as he makes his way, following the directions.

She nods politely, taking a sip of her drink.  "I see."  Her facial features change, becoming serious and while her tone is polite still, cleaarly she is changing the topic with her next statement.

"For this job, it will likely take a fair amount of time since no one has yet to find it in all the years that have passed since the Crash, I am more then willing to pay a retainer for your services but I expect results and will not suffer being taken for a ride.

"Furthermore, you will likely need to assemble a team of specialists to cover your bases.  I would expect you to lead this team given your background unless you find another who you believe would be better suited to act as the team's spokesperson."

The drive through the city is calmer then most nights, the storm seems to be keeping people off the streets or those that must venture into the storm busy scurrying about their business, just trying to push through and get done.

The rain is hard enough that even through the coat, Deathstrider feels rather damp as he pulls into the parkade and begins looking for the particular stall.

As the cowboy shaman listens, he keeps an eye on the unconscious man and a lookout for KE.

He listens to the woman's pitch he thinks it over, "Alright. Soon as KE shows up to pick this fella up, we can take this conversation somewhere else. You got me interested, but the details can wait."

She nods, a small smile gracing her lips enough to turn up the edges.  "That would be acceptable."  She finishes off her drink.

"Now if you will excuse me, I will be back shortly." she states as she rises out of the booth, glancing toward the back of the restaurant.

They dash across the street entering the diner quickly, they begin looking around...

Somewhat lost in thought, Deathstrider does not notice anything out of the ordinary as he looks for the handicap stall mentioned.  He almost misses it, his mind being elsewhere and all...

Re: And so it begins....

DS stops and turns his head to see the handicaped spot that he nearly missed. Backing up his bike, he parks in the spot. He dismounts the bike and walks over to the elevator and does as directed, pressing both the up and down buttons at once. He then walks back to his bike, mounts it and procedes to clean off his visor as he watches for whom he is to speak to. As he watches, he sends a private text to his sister, "Got any floor plans of this parking garage? Do they have security cameras you can access? Would be nice to have just in case this pick up goes to hell."

Dwight takes out his flashlight, holds it to the window where the KE officers can see, and then clicks it off and on three times.

When they come in he stands as he tips his hat to the gentlemen, "Evening, fellas. Got a guy that thought beating a woman was a good idea. She proved him wrong, but his buddy got away. I held him after seeing he has a sheet. The fact he also has a reward for his apprehension is a bonus. Not sure where the woman went. Didn't get the idea she wanted to press charges since she got the best of the fight." He then slowly takes out his ID and presents it, "Name's Dwight Oakhurst. Formerly of the Texas Ranger Criminal Investigation Division in Dallas."

"Ungh!  I have floor plans but there was a spider in the system.  They shut down the security cameras and pushed us all out of the system.  Watch yourself brother, something is not right there." she replies, clearly feeling the dumpshock.

Deathstrider's AR beeps then refreshes showing a flashing cursor labelled 'Floorplans'.

The older cop nods as he walks over.  "I am Officer Horton and this is Wallis.  You're far from home.  What are you doing in Seattle?"

His partner nods politely but Horton's tone is certainly one of professional courtesy and a slight tinge of jurisdictional suspicion.

The Texan nods and answers with a smile, "Pleased to meet you fellas. Been on walkabout for a couple years out this way. Come up through Pueblo, CalFree, Souix, and Salish country. Just wound up here little over a week ago." He then hooks a thumb over at the mook still out in the booth, "Like I said, him and a buddy decided to beat up a woman. I made a little noise, and she beat them up instead. I ran his face against the KE database. He's wanted by you fellas for questioning for a dust up at coffee shack, so I called it in as a private citizen. If I didn't, my totem wouldn't be too happy with me." Dwight smiles again, "I do like keeping the Ranger happy."

He motions for Dwight to stand so they can have access to the perp.  The older officer doesn't appear to react to any mention of Totems, taking it seemingly in stride while the younger officer frowns.

"He's only wanted for questioning and there isn't really a bounty on his head but I had a friend involved in that incident."

Dwight sees a nuyen transfer flashing icon appear in his AR with a query to accept.

After a few minutes of waiting, Deathstrider notices something odd.  He can just make out what looks like a leg in a moderately expensive pant leg behind a nearby car.  Whoever the leg belongs to, they appear to be lying on the ground.

He declines the transfer and says, "Donate that to a charity in your friend's name then or give it to the family of your friend. They need it more than I do. If there is any sort of reward for him after the questioning, have it go to the family with regards from myself and the two of you." He then asks, "Can I get you fellas some soykaf for the road?"

They both nod and the senior officer speaks again, "We will do that.  No but thank you for your offer."

He steps forward sliding the perp along the seat then lifting him to his feet.  The other officer steps forward to handle the perp out of the place.  They both look over their shoulders and nod once in thanks.

A couple of the customers watch as the officers leave but most mind their own business.

Joan returns a few minutes later, clearly having freshened up.  "May I offer you a ride to a more secure location where we can discuss the employment?"

Dwight steps toward the diner exit and holds the door for the woman as they leave.

DS sighs softly as he looks over to the elevator then back to the man. He dismounts his bike and slowly makes his way to the proned man. He shoots his sister a message, "Try to shoo that spider out. Something is not right here. I need eyes else where. I see a proned body. Expensive clothing. Will shoot you a pic soon as I can." He looks around more intently as he makes his way to the proned body carefully. His hand near his side arm, ready to draw at a moments notice.
