Re: Miyu's Comfy Chocolate Chat Corner

You can't autofire into melee unless you want to hit everyone in that melee. You're also at hefty penalties (-4 to fire into a grapple and -2 for a prone target) so you already get to learn just how awesome Trickshot is.

So, uh... Reroll I guess since you forgot to check "Record each die" again.

Or you could just go for it, and I'll have to put Shira back together again ;p

I also came up with an upgrade to get around that that I was planning on submitting for ST approval once I'm ready to buy it myself.

Re: Miyu's Comfy Chocolate Chat Corner

Here's the upgrade as I currently have it "written" in my head:

Upgrade: Smart

The Noble halves all penalties for shooting into close combat. If she also has the Multiple upgrade then she may avoid specific combatants even when using autofire (but not when using covering fire).

Autofire with this upgrade still ends up levying a penalty equal to the total number of people in your firing arc (with an additional -1 for each friendly grappler), the difference being that you won't hit anyone you don't want to. It also of course has utility when making single shots.

...I'm just going to roll Weaponry and do a melee attack.

Re: Miyu's Comfy Chocolate Chat Corner

Good plan, you get a +2 bonus to melee attacks against prone targets and Shira Holding him means he's denied his Defense.

EDIT:

Drachenstern:
4 bashing damage, or 7 if Specchio applies.

Of course it does. First rule of Specchio, if you ever can't justify/rationalize applying it for free then you don't deserve to have it. ;)

(Speaking of which, when you invoke Barrier Jacket you're considered to be targeting yourself so you definitely could have applied Specchio then and not taken damage from the glass. It's too late at this point to fix that though especially since Zoe just spent her turn healing said damage.)

Worst cold in ages. Once the splitting headache and runny nose and nausea are gone I should be able to form a coherent post. Well, at least as coherent as possible, heh.

Re: Miyu's Comfy Chocolate Chat Corner

Rules question: if I invoke Fuoco to grapple this guy and deal damage (I'm trying to combine the Damage and Break Off Maneuvers with an exceptional success), do I get my bonus damage to Fuoco?

I argue this is a freebie invocation, since I'm taking risks and trying to beat this guy senseless.

Re: Miyu's Comfy Chocolate Chat Corner

Successfully breaking free is reflexive, so you can either exceptional to Damage + Break Free like you just rolled for, or you can Break Free as your only grapple move and then attack him normally. The latter of which I'd recommend because Kensai does not enhance grapples* (that's what Empty Hands is for).

Also, why does the status box still say the driver has one wound? We've definitely dealt at least close to 1.5 times his health at this point (i.e.- enough for him to currently be filled about halfway with lethal and the rest of the way with bashing).

* Mostly. If you successfully Control Weapon then you can add your weapon bonus to your Damage moves from then on, but that's it.

Re: Miyu's Comfy Chocolate Chat Corner

So then is that the driver's wound count or the entity's wound count? If the latter then I'm really not sure what we did to have hurt it at all yet. Accidentally happened upon its Bane without realizing maybe?

Anyways, I'm pretty sure the driver's bleeding out after Zoe's attack just now so I'm gonna change tack a bit and get ready to start abjuring. Once someone with Occult dots tells Zelda in-character that that's what she should be doing and roughly how, of course.

Re: Miyu's Comfy Chocolate Chat Corner

Just so you know, I did an Occult roll (with specialty applied) to figure out what this thing is and how to defeat it.

12:17, Today: Drachenstern rolled 2 successes using 6d10 with the World of Darkness nWoD system with a target of 8, rerolling 10s ((8,5,3,8,4,4)).

Re: Miyu's Comfy Chocolate Chat Corner

Shira and the driver were both still prone, but okay.

Also, is no one going to bite and tell the Occult 0 girl how to do an abjuration? :/

EDIT: Just remembered Zelda is still Informed so I can resolve that to auto-succeed the Occult check myself if I really need to, I'd rather like to save that for the actual abjuration or some later step of the exorcism, though.

nope, Shira did the break away maneuver (so not grappled any more) + damage. All in all the thing took 13 damage. that ought to be enough to propel things through the air, no?

Actually Drachenstern did the roll and I included things in a private line to her, so hold on to that.

Dropping them prone was a specific move performed during the grapple and standing up is normally its own (instant) action, but whatever. Not complaining, just wondering.

I mean the possessing/controlling entity, since Shirley just called it a "parasite" and I've been working under the assumption that it's an ephemeral entity. Is it one?
