Basically, since the operative word so far has been "possession" the working assumption was that it's something akin to a ghost or spirit and can be exercised like one, but apparently it's actually been physically inserted and presumably has to be physically removed?

technically, a parasite. It has both an ephemeral and a physical presence. You'd have to cut it out of an infected person.

Informed turns that from a failure into a success. So, will an abjuration or other exorcism-esque action of some sort do anything helpful here, like maybe pacify the parasite to make cutting it out easier?

OOps. I missed that.

1. feeding some of what's in the syringe to the thing should pacify it,but other problems might arise there.

2. an exorcism might eb a tad too slow for your current needs, but if you manage to stop the thing from eating the driver from the inside it could make removing it from the corpse driver easier.

Any other hints on what besides feeding it might accomplish that? Since that was more or less functionally my question.

It's a hungry parasite-like thing. It is implanted, gestates, and bites its way out once its growth is done. Its only motivation right now is food. Its creator probably has some means of control over it, but right now there is no way for you to know what it is. Common control "instruments" include music, scents and command words. Zelda can think of a few commonly used modes of each. The chance of getting it right is quite low, however.

Remind me what Zoe's Dexterity + Medicine is? Your character description's gone blank for some reason.

Yeah, I've been trying to figure it out. Apparently it's something to do with non standard characters in the text, but I didn't think I had any.

Anyway, my dex plus medicine is 4 base, 7 transformed.

Hm, after factoring in free Fuoco* through Ministering Angel, Zoe and Zelda are actually tied at 8 dice... Before Zelda hypothetically buffs herself with Love Conquers All. So I'm thinking that Zelda does the surgery while Zoe stands by and Balms as needed to ensure the driver lives through this. That or we can do the surgery as a teamwork action in a mad dash to finish before whatever ongoing damage he's presumably taking right now wraps to full aggravated and insta-kills him, but I'm pretty sure Balm-as-needed has the better chance of success.

Also, I don't know about the rest of you, but feeding the parasite just a wee bit of Light from the syringe to buy time doesn't seem like the worst idea.

* Because if this isn't "taking great risks for great gains" then I don't know what is.

Probably the same as before, the thing though is that knowing about something is the sort of thing you need a decent reason to be able to roll more than once. Once we can actually see what the thing looks like would probably count, but at that point the only thing we really need to know is how to shoot it.
