Re: GW Inspired Video Games

Yeah the enemies in M2TW weren't varied enough.  If you played as scotland for example it would be quite some time before you fought anyone that didn't have a similar army composition to you.  While in Rome every nation was different, although some were different like the barbarians they had very individual bonuses.  You also had a feeling as the Romans that you were outnumbered all the time but you had superior training and tactics that if employed successfully would win the day.

Re: GW Inspired Video Games

Oh really? Last time I checked someone started it and then GW smacked it over the head with a ban-hammer.

If nayone knows of it's existence you'd make me a very happy camper (and probably annoy the wife too as a bonus!)

Re: GW Inspired Video Games

On a random note, several years after buying it I am on the last campaign mission of the original Dawn of War (Normal). I'm not good enough to win on hard modes. As a player, and I'm sure this will change (and I know it doesn't work in multiplay) I have found no base that cannot be solved by whirlwinds.  But the later missions take forever.

I found mark of chaos to be a letdown. The opening movie is great though.

The Call of Warhammer mod for Medieval Total War 2 is the best Warhammer Fantasy Battle video game out there. I haven't played Shadow of the Horned Rat though.

Brutally unforgiving.  Curse those squig hoppers!

Dark Omen was better, I thought, though it has been a long, long while since I played those games.  All I really remember about either of them is watching my regiments get pancaked by those twice-cursed squigs in SOTHR.

Re: GW Inspired Video Games

Dark Omen was better on the basis it had a difficulty curve. SOTR was more like a difficulty cliff, with the player at the bottom, and the rest of the game at the top.

I expect I will get Legendary Blood Bowl eventually.  Though I must be prepared to be bottom leaguer for the rest of my mortal days. ^^

Re: GW Inspired Video Games

Earlier today I saw a screenshot of Inquisitor Adrastia, an Imperial Guard hero character appearing in the new Dawn of War 2 expansion (Retribution).

I frothed a bit about this earlier on RPGnet, but I'll froth again here.  I think she looks -fabulous-.  And I'm stunningly impressed that Relic have managed to make a female character who looks feminine but badass, sexy yet without showing loads of flesh and cleavage.  She's not even wearing improbably high heels!  I wish that more female computer game characters are like this!

Re: GW Inspired Video Games

I have mixed feelings.  I've seen too much puritan witch hunter inspired art to say much else.  It does it's job, but just take the shiny off the sword and the I off the hat and you can see any number of her running through WAR any day of the week.

Re: GW Inspired Video Games

I'm dubious about my pre-order now, Game seemed to have made lots of changes to their website and my pre-order disappeared and came back but still haven't had any confirmation of it shipping ... although still early days yet, fingers crossed it comes for Friday though.
