Re: GW Inspired Video Games

I wouldn't mind that, if you found a way to include the wargaming aspect of 40k that drew me to spend ungodly amounts of money on figures and paint in the first place.

Re: GW Inspired Video Games

I watched the trailer for game player on WH40K II on Steam. The game is available now.

I don't have the reflexes to be a good RTS player. I wish so badly it was a turn based approximation of the table top experience. I don't understand why they cannot do both.

Very impressive, but I know to stay away because I'll end up forgetting that lone unit off to the side and they'll get pinned down and killed because I will be busy on the other side trying to micromanage my guys and then I'll do what I Do with all RTS's I get (uninstall).

Re: GW Inspired Video Games

Dont diss DoW2 before you try it. Its actually less micromangament then ordinary RTS since there aint no base to defend.
And its even better that the Tyrnaid enemy must be the teleporting hive fleet that ate the squats, i mean the warp is clear and then BAM! Tyranids everywhere

Anyone who plays Warhammer  Online, want to get together regularly and game?

I play Order on Ostermark and Destruction on Pheonix Throne, but I'd be willing to check out your server. It's always better to queue up with a partner and work back to back. Maybe an Archmage/Swordmaster combo or something.

Re: GW Inspired Video Games

I'm getting a new laptop soon and I was wondering if anybody knows if the knew Dawn of war is worth getting? I know some people commented on the beta but what's the actual game like? I'm a big fan of Company of Heroes so is it actually worth getting seeing as a new CoH is coming out soon?

Re: GW Inspired Video Games

aparently, DOW II sucks ass in single-player, but the skirmish and multiplayer seem to be worth it. I liked the beta multiplayer.

Re: GW Inspired Video Games

I have been playing a lot of my Dwarven Slayer on Ostermark. I love this class. I didn't think I would, but it is a lot of fun.

I *REALLY* want to get that "Recruit two people" reward. If I can recruit two players to the game, I earn a Pet in the game.

Does anyone want a trial period? If so rmail me, and we'll work it out.

Re: GW Inspired Video Games

No kinda strange, you can already sign up for beta, or even play the fummble sight.  But just for PC, psp, x-box, and no ps3, very odd, but Cyanide did do all the graphics for fallout 3 and it had stream less visuals in my controller's opinion.

Re: GW Inspired Video Games

PSP?  Score!  Speaking of PSPs, I love mine and picked up the Warhammer Fantasy card game for it and man I have to say....it sucked!  The explanations on how to play were very poor and I spent most of the time confused...very confused....

I hope Bloodbowl is much better.

Re: GW Inspired Video Games

I GOT DoW2.

Funny, I really really liked the single player. I mean, its based around you, a force commander (whose name you choose) and five squads. The squads are:

Tarkus, leading 3 Tactical marines.
Thaddeus, leading 2 Assault Marines.
Avitus, leading 2 Devastator marines.
Cyrus, leading 2 scouts.

You also get a Vehicle

Davian Thule, Dreadnought.

Each squad has its own specialized role. Tactical is versitile close ranged firefights, Devastator is long range support fire, Assault is close combat, Dreadnought is even more close combat and Scouts are specialized anti-something units.

Don't write the scouts off though! Cyrus with High powered shot and a sniper rifle RIPS through Tyranids like no tomorrow. He kills a synapse creature and the gaunts go bezerk.

Even better, ALLIED IMPERIAL GUARD are in this game! And they actually support you in the game, for like, two missions! At the end!

Re: GW Inspired Video Games

I really enjoy DOW2, but I have to turn off my GW Vet functions, some of the things there are just a bit daft. The fact that there was a SM captain running around with a heavy bolter for a start, the game designers obviously heard about Codex, got a copy and used it to stopp their table from wobbling around.

But at least the marines are as good as they are meant to be in the fiction, 5 of them they can take down an entire ork mob, unlike the wargame where 5 marines can be bowled over by about 20 guardsmen with some long range cigarette lighters.

"Final Liberation"

Anyone remember this game?  It was a blast and chock full of mega-cheesy cut scenes like this one-

Re: GW Inspired Video Games

Commissar Holt, reporting! :D

As for DoW2... I'm loving it. I can allow the few changes, like Commanders with Heavy Bolters, etc, because, well, it allows for a lot more flexibility in your forces.

The single player rocks, especially since you can play it co-op with another player (each of you controlling half the units) and the multiplayer is fun too.

All in all, I'd highly recommend it.

Re: GW Inspired Video Games

Only problem i found with DoW2 is some of the later boss fights.
They mainly turn into hit and run actions where you blow a few shots then run away because the boss easily auto kills your marines with one swing

Re: GW Inspired Video Games

Yeah, and the fact they have a crap ton of hp so you have to repeatedly coming back. Took me like 50 minutes to do the Warboss mission, 20 getting to him, the rest hit and running.
