Re: WFRP players wanted

Do we post here to ask for a GM, aswell as for players? I mean, I'd really love to play, but there is a general derth of starter games on the site, and I have concepts for Brettonian Knight or Empire Transvestite Gunslinger (not as crazy as it sounds). :)

Would anyone be up for running a game for beginners?

Pacing is hard.  I have lost many a player that have not wanted to post as required.  I love your game=:) Raven is tons of fun to play, but because I post A LOT more than most in my games I have been a bit more quiet and patient and trying to give others a chance.  I really enjoy the tension=:)

Re: WFRP players wanted

Alright, my new game:

link to another game

It is meant to be large, so I can accept a good amount of players. The one catch is that it is adult, so you must confirm that your are at least 18 years old AND the age of majority in your own country, whatever that age may be.

This game is going to (hopefully) consist of 3 parties. Ideally I want one in Kislev, one in the Empire, and one in Bretonnia, but we all know how ideals work out...

Anyway, the three groups may or may not meet, but their actions will affect, in small or big ways, the rest of the old world, and as a result, the other parties.

If your are interested, please take a look, and not that I am also looking for Co-GMs to help me with it.

Re: WFRP players wanted

I been thinking about combining several ideas I have had in the past into this one.

Warhammer 1660: The New World

Set about 2 centuries AFTER the typical Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay Campaign.

One of the Border Princes (your benefactor) is commissioning explorers and settlers to travel to the "New World". Already, there are a few colonies from Estalia, Albion, Marienberg and Brettonia.

First Phase of the Game: Decide what you are bringing with you to the new world.

Second Phase of the Game: colonize, we'll settle and explore. You'll send out frontiersmen, deal with local natives.

However, unlike a more historical campaign, you could very well unconver ancient slaaneshi artifacts of mystical importance, come across wild goblin tribes, discover a portal to the dark elf cities, etc.

Re: WFRP players wanted

In defence of my fellow GM, I think Winds had a number of very slow or unreliable posters to contend with. His biggest fault has probably been in indulging them by allowing a lot of time for them to post before moving the thread on, which is frustrating for the more frequent posters like yourself. I've probably erred the other way and moved things on too fast (I'm Whisperer - GM of the Kislev group), frustrating slower posters, but it's a difficult balance to get right.

Thanks for the defense, Revmark... To also speak up, here: my life is not one that is conducive to a consistent posting schedule. In addition to the issue he mentioned (which I need to work on, I admit) there is the fluctuating nature of my timetable due to my self-employed status. My schedule is not the same from week to week, and as rl must come first, there are inevitably going to be lapses in my pace. It is an unavoidable fact of my life right now.

Looking for two players for the Kislev group in Darius' Balance of Power game, which is a big multi-region game which we hope to be able to develop cross-overs within. I've had two players fall by the wayside and sadly the replacements I had lined up have dropped off before completing characters. We are a reasonably fast-paced group. Potential players should be prepared to post around once a day mon-fri under normal circumstances. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

I'm looking for players for my campaign [Paths of the Damned].  It's still in the early stage of the campaign.  The game has been running for a few months but progress has been slow due to lack of posting.

I'm seeking about 5 to 6 regular posters who are passingly familiar with WFRP2 rules (or are willing to read them) and can commit to at least one IC post per day.

Re: WFRP players wanted

"WFRP: The Kolpin Chronicles
The year is 2526, four years after the Storm of Chaos swept through the land and the effects are still being felt. Beastmen roam the dark woods, wrecking terror and misery wherever they go. Goblins and Orcs infest the mountain passes and Eastern empire, whilst all manner of fanciful and terrible beasts wander under Morrslieb on dark nights.

In your village of Raddis, located on the Kolpin river in Talabecland, terrible things are afoot. One dark night and the abduction of one little girl is all it takes for four local lads to cast aside the safety of their families for the threats and perils of the Empire.

Will YOU succumb to disease? Pain? Mutilation? Even Death?
Or, perhaps, will you enter the Kolpin Chronicles?"

Basically, I am looking for four players to play village lads set out to find one of their little sisters who was stolen away in the night. Characters must be 16 or 17 and Human Male with a village career. Expect all sorts of dangerous, bizarre and downright yokel occurances on this most noble of quests.

The Campaign will last for a fair while, with ideally 2 posts a day but the minimum will be one.

I am playing TEW and my players are now in the middle of the second adventure, somewhere trudging through the muck under Bogenhafen.

Unfortunately at least 2 players are going missing in action and I like to replace them.
At stake is a very strong Woodsman named Henrik Oswald and a Halfling Valet named Walter.

I prefer to continue with these characters so that the game flow is not interrupted. Introducing new characters in the middle of a sewer expedition is a bit strange. But if you can make it plausible.

ATTENTION!

Player wanted to fulfill the role of a orphaned, but friendly hunter from the small Talabecland village of Raddis. He currently has 250 Experience and is in the company of not only his village chums but an OGRE who they met on their journey to save a neibhours young daughter. His description is as follows:

At five foot ten feet and approximately 155 lbs is tall but thin, there is something frail about the boy, although his eyes seem to possess of a strong will. His long brown hair and green eyes with light growth that the boy has recently developed compliment is handsome face. Like nearly everyone else in town Rolf dresses in simple clothes of browns and greens.

As a hunter he does have a few furs to help him make it through cold days and nights spent sleeping out in the woods. A hunter the boy is almost never without his bow and arrows.

Having lost his father to war and his mother and siblings to disease during the Storm of Chaos, Rolf managed to survive with only one of his father's bows to save him from starvation and predation. Living in in the run down remains of his family's home, Rolf continues to ply his trade as a hunter. Much better as a stalker than a trapper most of his time is spent hunting bigger game.

Unlike some other hunters Rolf is a gregarious young man who enjoys the company of others. His outgoing personality has allowed him to ingratiate himself with a number of families, where he manages to find a meal or get his clothes mended in exchange for doing some chores or for some meat or hides. Rolf also spends some of his free time at the shrine to Taal and Ralya, often making offering thanks for their bounty.

Players wanted to take over a couple of existing characters in an ongoing evil pc themed game set in the Chaos Wastes in the Warhammer setting. The characters are a beastman and a warrior (with red fur!). It is an adult rated game.

Re: WFRP players wanted

Balder Refsgaard
Balder would look like a regular human boy if not for the shaggy red fur covering his body. He has the look of the marauders he was born to, but a smaller frame. This smaller frame lead to him being him being outcast from his village. He is determined to become a warrior for Khorne. In his human days he had blonde haired with blue eyes...now his blue eyes are in stark contrast of his red hair.

Khraz Bloodhoof (Beastman Truegor)

An Undivided male Bestigor from the Forests of Kislev a natural scout and bloodhungry warrior.

Viktor Weinrich
Viktor Weinrich exhibits no outward signs of mutation, and as such it is a simple matter for him to pass as a normal Human.  His hair is the color of corn, cut short for functionality rather than style.  He has dark brown eyes that smolder with wicked intelligence, though the flames of insanity have yet to fully bloom.  Though he is short, standing only 5'5", he is extremely light on his feet.

For the last few years Viktor has served the powers of Chaos in small ways, concealing his Chaos-granted abilities and operating within the boundaries of the Empire.  Recently, however, he has heeded the call of the North, and has abandoned his meager trappings and begun a journey to the Northern Wastes to serve the powers more directly.

(Viktors character has never posted so you can do what you like with that pc)

All characters are open to alot of your own input as per background and attitudes.

So far in the campaign, the pc's have escaped from enslavement and sacrifice by murdering their captors and turning on the other fellow survivors and slaves. They have formed themselves into a small warband under the command of Oskarr the Bloody, Of the Many Arms who won leadership by rite of combat, and with the discovery of a map with directions to a temple known as 'The Cradle' the group have delayed/fought off hunting dogs, wild flesh ravens and at the moment are fleeing a larger warband by heading into the 'Causeway of a Thousand Cuts'...

Victor sounds like a fun contrast to the others, less 'KILL! MAIM! BURN!' and a schemer using his better educated mind than muscle as opposed to the others in the party. That and of course the culture shock, I take it he was a fairly well to do man before taking off to the North? I'm definitely thinking of a sorceress or mad scientist vibe from him, wanting to become something better to get back at a world that he feels does not give him the due it deserves.

Judgment (was Suffer Not The Witch)

As posted earlier...

Judgment
The Storm has passed and the Empire is weak. Beset from within and without, the heretics are growing at an unprecedented pace, no longer hiding from the sun. Witches, heresies, mutants and foul chaos monsters infest the lands of the once-great Empire. Necromancy and black magic has begun to erode the face of strength that the Empire has shown to the world. It can not be ignored any longer. The Emperor has made a decree… the Witch-Finder General, Magisters of the Colleges and Grand Theogonist can only agree, faced with a growing threat. Three years ago, Emperor Karl-Franz forms the Inquisition. Granted powers beyond those of land-holding gentry, beyond those of prosecutors and wardens, the Inquisitors are sworn to defend the Empire from the Enemy Within and Without. There are no more than fifty, no less than ten, their true numbers being a state secret. Formed of determined men and women, clergy, warriors, scholars, thieves, and wizards.

You are a member of the Imperial Inquisition either as one of the sworn Inquisitors or a member of an Inquisitor’s retinue. You are hardened, trained and dedicated to the cause. Your mandate is broad but simple: suffer not the witch, the heretic, or the mutant to live. Nobles quake with your passing, commoners cry as the door opens to your rosette, and the Enemy… they fight you at every turn.
((Basically, this is Dark Heresy-Ascension in the Warhammer world. Your player characters form the Inquisitor and his/her Retinue and scour the Empire seeking out corruption, evil and the supernatural. And burning it.
I would be using advanced characters for this, second career likely, and rules from Dark Heresy and Ascension. Specifically, Influence and Peer talents, along with reputation and some selected goodies so that you have a chance against some of the foes. In the lines of Ascension, you are no longer bungling adventurers but die-hard foes of evil… and they know it. Your opposition will be strong, lives will be brief, glories that will never be known, and scars both inside and out.))

I'm opening up recruitment for this game. I imagine a start date of January but figured since I'm still working on the specific chargen stuff and background posts might as well get everyone in and chatting about their ideas.

At this time, it's Mature but I expect an Adult rating may surface due to the nature of the game such as pyres, torture, blood and demon-stuff. So I have set the RTJ requirements as fulfilling Adult games.

(This would not be for reasons of smooching in dark corners of the intrawebz.)

RTJ information here...
link to a message in another game

Please note that I'm only looking for two/three people at this point. Not first-come, first-added although anyone passed over will be put on the replacement list. I expect character generation to take a bit of time since I want the group to discuss their characters and their focus, and I'll need to answer some questions about the game and how Influence, Requisitioning and such will work.

Anyone requesting the Inquisitor position would be best served by owning Ascension and being familiar with the WFRP setting. I can help out a bit but I can't be explaining everything on a regular basis.

Note: This game will not conform to canon or approved timelines.

Roles open in my sequel to the Welmarcht court, 'Mists of Memory'.

In 'Mist of Memory' you play the child of one of the original characters, searching to find out the cause of troubling dreams experienced by your parents about their adventuring past.

Standard rules (Being able to post once a day and informing me if you're going to be away for abit) apply.
Feel free to PM with character ideas in first careers (Ideally middle-upper class, but everything is negotiable ;)

Re: Looking for a game pm me if anyone is starting one Pls.

I am currently looking for 6 players to play through the WFRP 1e campaign: The Enemy Within. I came to WFRP as the second edition was released and I have not had the chance to play through this old first edition campaign. So this will be my first run through of the campaign! As well as GMing I intend to play, so I am looking for 5 more players to make a full party.

I like to play my games of WFRP with as much realism and detail as I can, therefore I am looking for players who like to write descriptive posts with an attention to detail.

If you are interested please copy and paste the following into a RTJ and answer to the best of you ability:

1. Why are you interested in starting a WFRP 2 game on Rpol?

2. What is your experience of WFRP? Which of the main campaigns have you played through?

3. Have you played many games of WFRP on Rpol before? How many Rpol games do you currently play in?

4. Which WFRP 1 and WFRP 2 books do you own or have access to?

5. Please provide an example of your in-character writing style or a link to a game you currently play in.

6. Please detail the character you would like to play: You may choose a name, career, background, appearance and trappings. Please give full details of all of the above, the more detail the better. However do not roll characteristics since those will need to be done with the Rpol dice roller.

Would you mind allowing visitors to read your games, too ?

Naturally GMs ask for a writing example of potential players, but I think it should go both ways.

Why not allow potential players to check out the style etc. of a particular GM before they write an RTJ and drop out a couple of weeks later because it’s not to their taste ?
I think this would greatly reduce player fluctuation, no ?

I think you got an interesting point there Denalor.

I have tried GM'ing here as well and I found myself unable to keep the attention of my players so the game slowly turned to an halt and I had to call it finished.

I finished another game to it's end and I know that most of those players enjoyed the experience. But it showed me that as RPol GM, I am not good enough.

Re: WFRP players wanted

The Age of Reckoning has begun.  Following Malekith's invasion of Ulthuan a storm of vengeance has spread across the six cities of Naggaroth.  Morathi, Queen and seeress of Naggaroth, has launched a crusade against the followers of Khaine.  Hellebron, current religious leader of the Cult of Khaine, responded by marshaling her forces and soon war commenced.

As the country is ripped apart by civil war Witch King Malekith remains aloof, content to allow his country ignite in a civil war the likes never before seen since the time of the Sundering.  Kin slaying and strife is abound, but so far no city has been touched by the licking flames of war.

The question remains, how will you impact this time of woe?

+ + + + + +

This is a free-form game that takes place about half a year after the Age of Reckoning begins.  I'm looking for mature player's capable of portraying Dark Elf characters engulfed in civil war.  The bulk of my player's can be highborn, but I will more than likely only allow one or two.  The rest will have to either be lowborn or retainer's of another highborn, guild, or religious cult.  As long as you are creative I'll allow pretty much anything, within reason of course.

If you express interest in this game feel free to RTJ post-taste, but be sure to read all my Notices thoroughly as they explain quite a bit about druchii society and other interesting pieces of information.  In addition, this game is rated Adult.  With that said make sure you are of age and fulfill all needed requirements upon entry, otherwise I will not allow you to participate.  I rate it thus due to the nature of druchii society, though understand I am not overly fond of sexual content or overly abusive vulgarity.

As always, thanks and goodnight!

Player wanted for WHFRP 2ndedition-Chaos Wastes game. (adult rated) It is already well established with a good solid group playing evil characters as part of a burdgeoning warband led by Tsar Oskarr of the Many Arms. You can play tribal chaos marauders, beastmen, chaos dwarfs, dark elf, empire traitors, norse etc but i'm easy as long as it's a good concept that suits the feel. They are about to do a raid on Kislev so get in for some slaves and bloodshed!

I can stretch to 2-3 as we have 4 now who have been from the start, with one having a brutal character death.  it has worked with that many before as its part of a warband so theres lots of people around, wives, slaves etc. if someone leaves in rl i generally npc them into the background and it doesnt cause much hassle. post rate is usually between 1 and four posts a day, but can have the odd day or two with nothing, but thats generqlly rl or computer probs. We try not to hold the game up with every rule in larger combats as its slows stuff down too much if your waiting on someones action it seems to work pretty well.

Looking for 2 possibly 3 more to round out a completely new party.  Campaign is just starting.  Currently I have a Bright Wizard and a Dwarf warrior (Shieldbreaker on the Champion path).  Ideally I'd like to get a wilderness focused character, a theif type, and one other.

System I'll be using is 2nd ed.

Re: Players Wanted

Currently looking to run a WHFB campaign, though nothing system wise. It'll be mostly freeform, maybe I'll roll to determine if certain things work based on writing etc.

It'll take place in Sylvania as the group forms a party of Mercenaries led by a DMNPC (A witch hunter) as they travel into the accursed lands to search for a Necromancer that has been reputedly raising the dead.

It'll be adult oriented and I'd like to have a group of 3-6 players. Things I'll not allow, full-on Chaos Warriors (no Witch Hunter would have them), Cultists etc. Nothing to do with the Dark Gods, however if someone were to make a Kurgan or a Norscan who fled the North to pursue a life of blood and gold (being a merc) I'd allow it.

Re: Players Wanted

In reply to Araxosch (msg #130):

Freeform all the way.

I'd be looking for experienced adventurers, so Mercenaries, Trackers, perhaps a Priest of Sigmar/(or other gods)

I might do some rolling myself to have a more balanced outcome, so if for example I write.

"Karl saw the massive beastman's axe gleam in the light of Morssleib, the eyes of the creature burning with a desire to maim and rip him to shreds. It's teeth bared as it growled before charging, the hooved feet into which his twisted legs ending propelling him forward. Head lowered down for a charge as it's horns seemed to grow thicker, though perhaps that was just a figment of Karl's imagination"

and you respond with

"Karl sidesteps and slashes him", then I'd probably roll lets say a d6, if it were 4+ he'd hit and it'd work, and anything below would fail and result in him getting rammed with the beastman's horns.

Though if you were to respond with something more well-written.

"Karl's eyes narrowed as he took in his opponent, standing a full head above him the beast's corded muscles tightened as it launched himself forward. Clearly aimed at him as it bowed down, the bestial instincts of the creature not clearly faded he was reminded of the few goats he had seen. Waiting for the moment he side-stepped the beast narrowly, twisting his body out of the way and slicing downwards in an attempt to cut through the beast's leg"

Then I would probably just say, success. Though doing extremely athletic things, like running up a tree, doing a backflip and then a twist through the air before cutting the beastman's head off. Uhm.. yeah that wouldn't work.

Hope that wasn't to tl/dr

Anyone starting up a WFRP game or have one running that has room for another player? A few of the games I've played in have dropped to almost zero posting progress and thusly I am on the prowl for games which are active.

I'm quite familiar with the system, slightly less familiar with the setting, and have a very steady posting schedule of at least once per day. Please let me know via rMail or this forum if you think I would fit in.

Thanks!

Starting up a game, but it's a little different that normal.

It's a WFRP game but set in the land of Skyrim / Morrowind.

The rules will be WFRP but you will have some extra race options, and the world in general will be different. I've attached a link to the game and completely open to answering any questions. We are just at the character creation stage so hurry and get in while you can.

I expect a post rate of at least 3 posts a week. If you cannot live up to that don't request access. I'm tired of games dying or slowly crawling.

Thanks

In reply to kingkut (msg #136):

Hello,

Had a player bow out who is playing in my Skyrim / WFRP hybrid. He isn't into the rpol style playing so it wasn't a game based decision. Currently he was playing a Breton Hedge Wizard. He is currently travelling aboard a caravan bound for Riften.

No knowledge of Skyrim , Oblivion or the Elderscrolls is needed, I'm willing to hash that out with the new player. You must however understand the WFRP system. I'll pick the best applicant and will be starting with them asap.

I am up to someone taking him over, or creating a whole new story and character. There is only a few stipulations.

1. You must be able to create a character and a interesting background asap.
2. You must provide any sort of writing sample.
3. Must be able to post daily or bi daily.
4. Must be an adult and submit name , Date of Birth, and if you are allowed to play adult games in your area.

Seeing popular demand for it, I'm putting together a game of Death on the Reik, using 2nd Edition rules.

I will probably accept no more than 6 players. New and experienced players are both welcome. Those who are familiar with The Enemy Within campaign, I ask that you refrain from acting on player knowledge over character knowledge.

Bear in mind this is an Adult-rated game, due to some of the subject material that comes up, so you will need to provide me with your name, date of birth, and confirmation that you are allowed to play adult games in your area.

The intention of this game is ultimately to continue onward through the Enemy Within campaign.

Please be sure to read the RTJ guidelines first. Thanks!

Oh, well thank you! I remember that player handouts were one of the joys of playing Call of Cthulhu, and since GW were trying to go with that same kind of vibe when they wrote The Enemy Within, it would be a shame not to use them. I enjoy making that kind of stuff, anyway.

I'm looking for a replacement player asap! We are just starting the adventure. I am looking for a replacement for this character.

Name: Delos
Race: Dunmer (Dark elf)
Career Path: Bounty Hunter

BACKGROUND:
Delos was born on the Island of Vvardenfell, in the town of Balmora. His mother worked in the local tavern, and Delos, in spite of (or some would say due to) his small stature, became known as a bully. He was careful never to be caught in his actions, always punching, or stealing when no-one was looking. His action caught the Morag Tong, who kept an eye on him as he grew. He showed promise, and after he reached a certain age, he was allowed to shadow a Morag Tong agent. He had been training with them for nearly a year, and Delos was excited about field work. It was on this mission, to take out a Rouge Telvanni agent that things went wrong. The Tong assassin was hit with paralysis and Delos was thrown across the room, and onto a platform. The wizard smiled cruely and muttered a few words, hurtling Delos across space.

He found himself freezing, on a similar platform, in a dilapidated and abandoned study. Sneaking around, he found himself alone, in a shack. Opening the front door, he found himself on the vast plains of what he would learn was Skyrim.

PLAYERS WANTED

Wanted: Player to assume role of a young soldier, Heinrich Ackermann. From the small village of Raddis along the Kolpin, he embarked with four childhood friends to rescue Gretta, a young girl stolen from the village. Their adventures took them to Altdorf where they managed to rescue the young girl, but at the cost of their own innocence.

Scarred both emotionally and physically with a burnt face, Heinrich and his friend Rolf decided not to return instead taking the Emperor's shilling in Talabheim. After barely two months in service his company was ambushed on patrol by beastman, leaving him injured. With Rolf, his comrade and friend who had helped him survive the slaughter, the two have made it back to Talabheim to warn the Elector Count of the encroaching beastmen forces.

Heinrich is lad at heart, brawling, drinking and whoring with the best of them. However, he displays a raw hatred in battle which has been noted as overzealous. The memory of Vera, his fancy in Raddis presumably moved on now stays at the back of his mind.

Given that you are taking on a pre-made character, I'm quite happy for you to re-roll the fate points. A fresh start if you will. Please PM for more details.

Re: PLAYERS WANTED

I am considering to run a fully fledged and long term campaign based mostly(that means with a few alterations where fitting) of Paths of the Damned.
It will be Second Edition, with RAW ruleset for character advancement.
That means the following order of books(adventures):
- Core: Through the Drakwald(modified a tad).
- Ashes of Middenheim.
- Spires of Altdorf.
- Forge of Nuln.

I have run two different WFRP games on this site with some or quite a bit of success, and will extend this to running a game I a fond off.

Expect it to be dark and gritty, with a heavy emphasis of believable NPC's - named or not. They have a life, a soul, goals and ambitions, but also troubles of their own. If you cross them, they may make your life harsh. No action is without reaction.
Hence, a world that is gradually turning darker and where depravity, conflict and unjust is a daily occurrence. Personally this has always been a charm for me about Warhammer, and one which I will try to parlay.

Would there be an interest, player wise in this considering the beginning from scratch to perhaps greatness or great defeat?

Re: PLAYERS WANTED

Do read the Premises, though.
Your
Old
World
Will
Vary
Specifically: only humans.

Have 1 (maybe 2) slots free.

The game is running since Aug 18, i.e. the Game Info has not been updated since then but should be read anyway.

The Group has investigated and ended a disease in southern Wissenland (near Kreutzhofen), ending a ritual that corrupted an ancient elven holy site and spawned Nurglings and Plaguebearers to spread the disease. The group has taken some elven artefacts from the site which seemingly had been used in the thwarted ritual. They wanted to learn more about these artefacts. The disease seemed to have originated in Bretonnia but the Montdidier Pass has been closed off by both the Elves of Athel Loren and the Dwarves of the nearby holds.

The Group thus headed east to Sonnefurt where they investigated a murder mystery and saved the scapegoat murderess. Everyone then believed the true culprit had been killed, everyone but the characters. But they were unable to unravel the uneasiness they all felt about a potential man behind the scene and travelled on to Wusterburg.

The Group is currently at Wusterburg, it is 19. Pflugzeit 2515 I.C., and they are about to consult a scholar who knows more about Elves and hopefully can provide some further insight...

Expected posting rate is 1x/d - 3/w

The Group currently is composed of
Dieter von Baden (Investigator)
Franz Mueller (Soldier)
Heldric Kuhn (Villager)
Sebastien Bauer (Hunter)

A new character would start at 1.000 XP

XPs are distributed according to
  1. Session End is at ~100 IC Post Count total (excluding GM Posts)
  2. Everyone with at least 10% IC Post Contribution will get 30 XP.
Less than 10% will result in linear reduction
  3. A further 50 XP x characters distributed according to
    Criteria%
    IC Word Count60
    IC Post Count30
    IC GM Impression10
I.e. with 4 active players the amount is 200XP
  4. Addtional XP are allocated when achieving Short Term Ambitions

Re: PLAYERS WANTED

In reply to Denalor (msg # 179):

Well, one player completely disappeared, seemingly from the whole site and not just my game.

COVID-19 is obviously causing major troubles, too, even on this free time hobby.

So, once again, I would like to add some characters, 1, maybe 2.

The Group currently is composed of
 Dieter von Baden (Investigator)
 Franz Mueller (Soldier)
 Heldric Kuhn (Villager)
 Karin Sprunghaft (Entertainer)
 Sebastien Bauer (Hunter)

Right now - after a month of inactivity - only Dieter and Heldric seem to be able to post again.

So what happened in the last 5 RL months ?
Only a day has passed in game, it is 20th Pflugzeit 2515IC
Quite a lot, I should say.

West, at the edge of the Barony of Mackensen was a mystery forest that few people dared to enter as rumours of elves and other strange faeries abounded that did not allow entry into their wood, much as in Athel Loren, the large realm of the Wood Elves between the Empire and Bretonia.
However, a prospecting party of miners had actually entered at the beginning of spring and returned with news of rich ores to be found beneath the dark canopies. The rumour spread quickly and the surrounding nobles were each claiming the forest to be within their own borders. Obviously, there was truth in that, as seemingly the forest was large enough to touch each of these baronies. Each noble has sent armed forces to enforce that claim.
The forest seems to have spread further as trees now cover regions that were previously barren land and plains. This has effectively closed down any traffic (and thus trade) with the settlements upriver as any river barges are being ambushed, the clear intent being murder and not robbery.
Baron Von Eigenhof's soldiers were slaughtered by creatures of the forest, Von Kalb's mercenaries have turned into marauders and harrass the southern lands of the Barony Mackensen, seemingly for private reasons as the captain of that force had previously been loyal to Mackensen but had been dismiseed from service. Of the other two factions no news were heard.
The group also learned that the prospectors venturing into the Forest of the Lost had retrieved magical items.
Consulting with a scholar and a wizard the group learned the Forest of the Lost, also called Athel Brocelon, seems to be ruled by a Dryad Queen who is vengeful and hates humans. Clearly the Queen is angered by the intrusion of the prospectors and more so by the armies closing in on her realm and she intends to fight back.
The dryads are a dying race and the Queen used to change human children to become dryads with her magic and an artefact, the Lute of Wisdom. There is a myth that the Lute of Wisdom was stolen a long time ago by one of the changed. The time scope is a mystery, however.
The Elven Artefacts retrieved by the group at the very edge of Wissenland more than a month ago have been investigated by both the scholar and the wizard. Clearly the symbolism involved is of growth, health, recovery and fate. And they are magical, though also tainted by the ritual of the Nurgle sorcerer.
The group also learned a seeming resolution of the murders in Sonnefurt. All along they had suspected that the Freiherr Bader was involved in the murders and in Wusterburg they learned that the war hero is homosexual and may have murdered in Sonnefurt out of fear that his tendencies become widely known. The group has learned that Baroness Katarina von Heisenberg's soldiers are led by the Freiherr and maybe the hated noble comes within their reach again.
Meanwhile, a murder occured in the dock area of Wusterburg. The victim a prostitute who has unearthly traits and was obviously much older than she appeared to be.
The group intends to venture forth into the Forest of the Lost to offer the Elven Artefacts to the Queen of the Dryads, hoping to appease her to relent from waging war on the humans.

Re: PLAYERS WANTED

In reply to Denalor (msg # 182):

Dieter here. I wanted to chime in to say that Delanor is one of the better GMs I've played for in my 10 years on RPOL. He has well thought out and executed story lines that require some deduction and skepticism to suss out.

The RL issues with the group have been sporadic and since covid, a few have been radio silent.

It's been a great game and if you are a consistent player who loves some good role playing I urge you to check it out.

Re: PLAYERS WANTED

I am assuming it's a 4th Ed game, and while I haven't really gotten to try it, I would very much like to, if you'd consider having a noobie. I played 2e and I'm familiar with the concepts, just never did the execution of playing properly.

Re: PLAYERS WANTED

Well, thanks Croatoan :D

Yup, it is 4th Ed as seen in post #179 above ;)

Follow the link, read what is there, determine whether this is the type of game you'd like to play in.

You need to understand that the game started as a mere "Check-the-new-rules", using an adventure I had drafted when 2nd Edition had been released.
Also, that it had been an "upon-invitation-only" game since I am pretty annoyed by drop-outs from various other games I had staged in the last 10 years here on RPoL. And those invited I have known for several years. Even so, by now we are almost a completely new Crew. Of the original set-out only two remain, Franz and Sebastien, and of those only Franz can truly be considered active as Sebastien simply has too much on his plate, it seems. It is neigh impossible to absent for some time and then think one can just enter again. Too much is happening, too much is connected. This is not a complaint, but simply a fact. If you get the feeling "oh damn, I need to post in that game", feeling harried, then this is not enjoyment but chore.
I have become very sensitive about dropping-out which is why I keep nudging potential players to truly read through the threads revealed.
I need consistent players who really realize that dedication is a requirement to truly enjoy the game.
See my comment here on this 'game' Forum in General thread, post 925.
If you just 'want to try out that new system' then maybe this is not the game for you. I keep telling that to avoid disappointment on both sides.
Oh, also: I have no issues at all with people not knowing the system, this is not a criteria for me.

Re: PLAYERS WANTED

Yea, I can have the self-knowledge that I can admit that I don't like high-speed pacing or posting in PbP games. I usually like taking my time with it. So if that is how this game is, then I'll skip applying for it, for my own and for your sakes. Thanks for the clearup though, being honest is nice beforehand.

Re: PLAYERS WANTED

OMG, totally unexpected rush of RTJs. Why unexpected? Last time I recruited I had such meagre response.
Thanks everybody.
Unfortunately I cannot take so many but I will definitely keep evryone who RTJ'ed on my list in case in need more or replacement players.
For now, though, recruiting is closed again.
