Re: WFRP 3rd edition

And in the old world, who is going to waste brass making coins?  There is much more important stuff to use brass on.  Like steam tanks, and cannons.

Re: WFRP 3rd edition

Brass used on coins is hardly wasted brass. How would the towns and villages function without coin? It is, literally, the lifeblood of the Old World nations - were it not so, the anarcho-primitivist anti-capitalistic Northern Tribes would not be so intent on wiping the monetary order from the face of the Old World, no?

In reply to OrtHodox (msg #39):

Copper. Zinc is rare. Copper is common. Use the copper, leave out the brass.

Re: WFRP 3rd edition

Though I'd very much like to try the game, I have to admit that if I was going to be a GM in a game, I would probably use the same modified economy for 2ed that PsyckoSama is using.

Still looking for GM who is willing to make a PbP out of this =D

Thanks. I like to hear that the economy I'm using is well liked by my players. :)

Re: WFRP 3rd edition

Bronze: copper is rather soft and coins will loose their markings quickly. Plus, because they're soft, they're easily 'shaved'. Tin is not that uncommon, and bronze is a lot harder than copper.

Re: WFRP 3rd edition

Soft? Compared to what? Gold and Silver?

On the Mohs hardness scale copper is a 3. Gold and Silver are a 2.5. Relatively speaking it maintains its detailing and is harder to shave than either of those metals.

Your point has just been pwned... with SCIENCE! ;) ;) ;)

Re: WFRP 3rd edition

I think the issue is the dice system, the unique dice can make it a pain to run on here.

Re: WFRP 3rd edition

I've tried it a couple of times and was not overly impressed.  I really like a few aspects, but picking up 20 dice to roll one check makes it reallllyyyy slow and chunky.  Party cards are cool and I really like them.  My group is going back to 2nd edition as soon as my "vacation" ends and the 3rd edition guy finishes up.

Re: WFRP 3rd edition

Depends on the use of the narrative aspect of the dicepool.

Re: WFRP 3rd edition

I prefer second edition rules above third edition, although they do have some nice tweaks and tricks in it. I cheer the fact that critical hits can occur any time during combat, and not only when you are already close to Morr's Garden :)

I like the concept of dice pools above a single roll, but in third edition there are just to many dice (types). It gives you a great opportunity to tell your story as each die (type) is linked to something, but then again, construction your dice pool can become a burden.

Re: WFRP 3rd edition

I cannot confirm this from my game experience. it is simple, each players constructs their own dicepool and the gm only adds fortune/misfortune and challenge dice.

Re: WFRP 3rd edition

I've perused the rules, and I should be getting a copy of the game in the next couple of weeks.  I know there are a couple of different dice rollers out there, but if I can work out a good way to do the dice rolling here then I'm willing to give a go at running the game.

Re: WFRP 3rd edition

I can do that too.  As soon as I've gotten the set in I'll definitely see if I can scoop up enough players to make a game.

Re: WFRP 3rd edition

Okay, I've got my fantasy setup now.  I plan to start working tonight on setting up to play out the adventure included with the boxed set.  I'm going to be looking for 3-4 players that want to play the game, don't mind the GM making all the rolls, and haven't read/played the adventure.

If interested, even those that have expressed an interest, then please PM me and let me know.  Those players will receive an invitation first, then I'll advertise to fill any remaining slots.
