Re: Random thought
If there were to be a Blood Bowl RPG homebrew what would the forum suggest it look like?
I have in mind two varied ideas. The first is to keep it a D6 version and simple variant of the board game. The other is to use WHFRP second edition rules with some home-brewing.
A basic starting character would be per rules in WHFRP plus a bit of buffing up and a ridiculous Attribute in one category a free +10-+20 to DEX, STR, AGI etc. Then a sub-set of XP to be spent on Blood Bowl skills which would be Advanced Skils or Talents. Throw, Strip ball, Throw player etc.
As much as it would be easy to make it a D6 it would get in my mind stale extremely fast and there would be little variation of players on the pitch. I like the idea of a Rat-catcher with low skills turning pro as a Catcher in an arena type game. Not PvP but a set rules game.
I think the movement rules could be easily home-brewed to turn from feet into spaces on the pitch and tackling could be a WS test block a STR test, sometimes opposed. I just think in the end a fleshed out character would make a more fun PC to play than a D6 game where maybe there is some FUDGE to the rolls.
Just looking for thoughts and possible rules that come to mind. Would PC's like to have races such as Goblin, Orc and Skaven in the game or just the "Non-Evil" races on their team? What about Magic Users? Possible other positions such as Cheerleader or Assistant Coach or General Mangager? Would players rather start off as Star-Players or work their way there? Would PvP actually be a good idea? A regular 11 side or possibly a 7's a smaller scale Nuffle game?
A simple inquiry to the most deviant, dynamic and dexterous Warhammer minds this side of the Light Web.
Cheers.
