Re: The Wolf's Head Tavern

Aramen gave Yana a quick kiss on the cheek.

"Relax, you are allowed to accept gifts from people. You don't have to explain. I was just curious, it was an odd thing for him to mention. Also I am not sure if I heard him right, but he said long life elixer, or something of the sort."

In reply to Black Fang (msg #939):

"Get used to it?  How does that happen?", Howard asked.  He has been nearly killed by a gun loaded with silver bullets before, he still bore the scars of the attack on his head, although his hat covered the wound.  "I wonder if there is any game to hunt in these woods, or if the game we find is safe to eat."

Ah, you've also been to other planar establishments? Have to ever been to the Shadow's Anchor Bar and Grill or perhaps the TimeCorps Steakhouse? Boone seems intrigued to meet someone else who seems well-travelled.

Yana nods, glad that Aramendel wasn't mad that she accepted Boone's gift.
She says, quietly:

Yes, it's an elixer that extends a human's life.  Given the man in my life....well, I decided that it might come in handy.

She smiled shyly.

By-tor looks over to Abraham and Bareback, glad that someone was interested.

"Yes... I have only heard tales of it in my land as containing some great fortune of some sort, some say it is gold, some say knowledge, among many other theories, but still more say it is just a story. Anyway, it doesn't matter to me what kind of person comes, just that they come to help along in the adventure that will likely be a dangerous one."

Re: The Wolf's Head Tavern

Aramen smiled at the lass. The ways she just referred to made him feel truly special. Still he was concerned. The choice to gain longevity should not be taken lightly.

"Yana, love. Did you drink the elixer yet? I do not wan to scare you away from the prospect of long life. It is a blessing, but I just want to warn you that there are a few things to know about the life. You will have to prepare yourself for the thought that you will probably out live everyone you befriend. It is a strange dynamic that could change who you are. Choices you make will have that much more impact."

He gives her a smile and brushes her cheek tenderly.

"But with all that, I do love the thought of having another 3 centuries with you, and long life is a nice thing for all the obvious reasons. I just wanted you to be informed."

Re: The Wolf's Head Tavern

Yana looks at the elf for a moment, with a shocked look on her young face.  Then she started to laugh.
She stopped a second or two later, giving Aramendel an affectionate kiss.

I'm sorry, Aramen!  I didn't mean to imply that three centuries with you would be a BAD thing, but....well, you're right.  I hadn't really thought this through, beyond how wonderful it would be to have centuries to do what I want.   I don't have any family left, but any friends, especially human friends, would fade away.

She sighs, still smiling, but more seriously.
I understand your concerns, my love, but I'm willing to "live" with my decision.  Shades, even if we aren't together that long (I AM  a difficult person to be around at times, or so I've been told), then I STILL want to have that time.  I want to live longer, to see more, to DO more.  It's what I want to do, Aramen.

As she pulled away from the kiss she sees his face is beaming.

"As what I hoped and expected, dear. I didn't want to dissuade you. I just wanted you to look at all angles. Sometimes when something looks glamorous we forget to think of everything. It really was quite a gift."

Re: The Wolf's Head Tavern

Speaking to By-Tor, Boone says I'll be glad to accompany you, but I have a committment to see to first. Boone looks over at the barkeep Does this establishment have a firing range or a room where the restrictions against weapons are relaxed? I need to teach this young gunner how to bounce bullets to hit targets indirectly, and the regular surfaces of a firing range would be just the ticket we need. If not, I've got a portable door in my backpack that can lead the two of us to my own workshop, but I'd prefer using the local facilities if possible.

The bartender looks at Boone with a queer eye.  "There aint nuthin like that ere.  And I wudn't try uzin yur portable door.  Pocket dimensions dont works so well ere.  If ya try, it might collapse and ya will loose everything in it."

Re: The Wolf's Head Tavern

I should have guessed that. I guess I'll have to take this lesson outside. Stay and chat awhile, By-tor. C'mon Ski, let's go outside and I'll try to instruct you in the skill. It takes a lot of practice to be able to figure out the angles, and playing billiards is a great help in visualizing the geometry involved, but I can at least instill the basics in you. Boone leads Ski outside. He tosses a few dollars onto the bar and takes a couple of whiskey bottles with him.

Yana nodded, relieved that her elven ranger was okay, both with her having the exiler of long life, and that she accepted it from Boone.

No pressure, Aramen.  I'm not saying that I know what the future will bring, just that I want a LOT of it!

She grins impishly.

"Planiverse?"  It almost sounds kind of silly when you say it like that.

She giggles.

She brings out the vial of elixer and unstoppers it.
The dark-haired lass takes the elf's hand and squeezes it hard.

Alright, then.  Bottom's Up!!!

She brings the vial to her lips to quaff it.

Parker steps over to Yana and Aramandel.  He had noted the conversation and watched as she downed this draught.  "A word of caution to the two of you, I do not know how experienced you are at traveling through the planes of your own world, but let me tell you, I have done a good deal of it.  The laws of magic and science are not the same on every plane, and I strongly suspect that they may not be the same on every world.  The elixer may work on your own world and it may not, but if you travel, you may go to a world where it doesn't work at all.  Stolen years may come upon you quite suddenly."

His smile actually seems warm and he purposely doesn't show his teeth.  "I am only telling you this out of concern."

"I don't think I'll want to miss this!" By-tor follows Boone to see what he is going to teach. By now By-tor had seen a lot, almost too much, things so alien that, by now he at least knew what a gun was, and knew that it would definetely be fun to see him do tricks with it!

Re: The Wolf's Head Tavern

After draining the elixir, Yana waited for some dramatic change or strange, magical feeling.
When nothing happened, she was somewhat dissappointed.  So much so that she almost missed Parker's advice.

Yana looked at the kobold, blinking in surprise.

Oh!  I...guess I'd never thought about that.

She smiled at the lizard-man.
Thank you, Master Parker, for your advice.  Given that I'll have so many more years then I thought I would, I'm not too worried about it now, but that will change soon enough.

I'll keep a close watch on it.  Thank you, Master Sorcerer.  Perhaps I'll investigate some magic to detect such things.
